Harbaugh on Michael Vick

Ravens coach John Harbaugh was vague when asked about the team's interest in Michael Vick, who was granted a conditional reinstatement by the NFL.

"We’ve had long discussions about Michael Vick and we have a feeling about how he would impact our team and not impact our team," Harbaugh said. "We have a course of action that you can ask Ozzie [Newsome, general manager] about."

Newsome told The Sun on Tuesday, "We have three quarterbacks that we like."

Would the Ravens perhaps look at Vick if he switched from quarterback to wide receiver?

If the Ravens pick up Vick I will boycott all Ravens games from that point. I have always loved animals and this dispicable human being should never become a member of this fine Cities football team.
I've followed the Colts since 1954, enough is enough. Find someone else to throw a stupid football.

Oh stop your crying you tree hugger. He is a man trying to make a living like you and I. I don't think the Ravens need him, but I'm tired of all the tree huggers saying that their going to protest any team that hires Vick. Some people have nothing better to do with their lives. The man just spent 2 years or more in jail. I feel he has done his time. Leave Vick alone.

That's nice, Patrick. You can stay at home and love your animals, while the Ravens play at M&T without you.

I guess second chances are only ok for wife beaters, drug dealers, and drunks.

The court system is in place to decide guilt and to prescribe the incarceration duration. Now that the court system has ruled, as abhorrent as anyone may think his behavior was, he has done his time and has a right to seek gainful employment.

Just because it is a ridiculously high paying job can have nothing to do with what jobs he has a right to hold. Society has no right to continue to sit on a person after they have made their pass through the legal system. In fact, to continue to punish a person inevitably drives that person to further criminal acts. Example: OJ. Sure they should have gotten him the first time, but they didn't. So they kept right on squeezing him by going after every nickel he had and eliminating his sources of income. Surprise, surprise, he wound up breaking the law again.

This is America, where people have the right to make a living with whatever skillset that they have. A lawyer, physician, or law enforcement officer may not resume their previous vocation after such a conviction because of the public trust involved. But this particular barbarian simply plays a kid's game that we all take a bit too seriously.

Should his sentence have been longer? Sure, but it wasn't. So people, get over it already.

Can I have your tickets then?

Vick would be an excellent candidate as a WR and/or punt/kick returner. The name of the game is....WIN. For every season ticket holder that may pull out there would be 5 more who would want in.

I can second the feeling on animals... but at the same time.. the guy's been to prison. He lost of ton of contract money. He's paid a severe price. He's going to play somewhere. If he can help the team, why not here? (only as a WR though, let's be honest...not looking for another erratic quarterback)

Patrick, he is no more dispicable than men who kill deer then cut their heads off, stuff 'em and hang them up in their homes on the wall like trophies. You make the call!

Sure, let the drug dealers/addicts, murderers, rapists, and wife beaters play, but cruelty to some dogs!?!?!?! An immediate ban for life is obviously in order.

As to his ability to play WR, I think getting a legitimate WR is needed, and all these half@$$ solutions will not amount to anything.

Do you love animals more than people? He made a mistake that he probably grew up thinking was ok, just as a lot of people do who are involved in dog fighting. People kill all kinds of animals every day. Animals are not equal to human beings!!!We are talking about football!!! You can boycott all you want to, but as soon as he dives across that goal line you will be cheering again. What about all of the other athletes who have manslughter(Ray Lewis) and gun and domestic Violence charges. Speak up on that. You still watch Ray every Sunday right?Me personally, I really could care less about a dog. There are more important things we should be worrying about like the environment and human beings!

I love the conditional tolerance of Ravens fans: a commenter on this post will support a double-murderer at Linebacker but not a dog killer? Oh, the hypocrisy. I love animals as well and I find nothing more incredible than peoples' inability to let a man try to get his life back together. Perhaps everyone who commits a crime should be terminally unemployed. I'm sure they'll make FAR better decisions with no ability to rehabilitate themselves.

Baltimore isn't a great fit for Vick, but he deserves to go somewhere. I would ask most "fans" to check their own history with felons before casting too many stones.

Signing Vick would be a great idea. Hey, is Rae Carruth out of prison yet? Maybe Ozzie should speak to his agent too.

I say let the man earn a living! He did his time, he doesn't need to be blackballed from this, he is a professional football player. Let him play. If the Ravens brought him in as a receiver I would welcome him. Bring it on, Vick is one of the best athletes of his generation I say lets experience it and move on.

If the Ravens hire Vick, I too will boycott all Raven games.

really patrick? nice one... but it's plenty okay if you cover up for a friend who murdered someone; as long as you can make a stupid tackle? people make mistakes and people can change their lives. who are you, or any of us for that matter, to judge? the legal system ran it's course. go ahead and boycott, i'll take your seat.

What Vick's last "paying his dues" should be is a steel cage death match like they do in wresting. He and two trained to fight pit bulls and him. Then after say 10 minutes or less he would know what the little PETS he threw into the cage to warm up, his pit bulls felt like. After that, then he would deserve a 2nd chance - to do it again!

I had always wondered if his value at WR was something worth looking at.

GET HIM!! I don't understand the big deal about Vick. He served his time, he payed his price; now let the man get on with his life! His speed and agility would be great as a reciever or a Brian Westbrook/Reggie Bush style back.

We all welcomed Ray back with open arms after he was involved in the death of a HUMAN. If you really have more of a problem with someone killing dogs than someone killing people, you have more issues than Michael Vick.

Harbaugh is barking up the wrong tree on this one although going on the road to Cleveland to face the dogpound could be an interesting game.

If you're about to leave over a player who has served more than enough time and whose culture you will never understand then this "Cities" team doesn't want you.

If you boycott, can I by your tickets?

I'm apalled at even a restricted reinstatement. All physcologist info i've seen & heard say this kind of person never loses the desire to inflict damage completely, or eventually moves on to human victims. I hope no team signs him, he is despicibile.I believe in 2nd chances, but not related to violence, & death

Patrick, that is a ridiculous sentiment. I like animals too, but whats done is done and he paid his time, so let it go. If he would of raped someone you wouldn't be on here complaining, but because it involved animals, people like you take up this holy crusade. I'm not saying I want Vick, but good lord, let the dog fighting thing go, I don't care how long you've been following the Colts.

I'm sitting here reading some of the comments and people talking about they will boycott the Ravens if they get Michael Vick. I understand he did something that was wrong. I'm a huge lover of animals especially dogs. I have a couple pit bulls in my family who I love dearly and could never see any harm being done to but again you all act like he took human lives. If it's easy for you all to forgive Ray Lewis who was caught in a murder trial and other people who have been involved in Manslaughter of an innocent life then what's so hard about forgiven Michael Vick. To me you all act like animals because only GOD can judge and he deserves a second chance.

I grew up watching dog fighting.. and I didn't think it was a bad thing.. that is what i was taught... vick the same way... he did his time.. he paid his debt to society... lets give him a chance as a wr or kick returner. I think Baltimore is a great fit. Vick is very well liked in the african-american community and its a city that has a large population of african-americans. he would be welcomed with open arms by ALL.. but he better perform like everyone else or i will boo his behind like i do corey ivy

vick would be another fitzgerald . at wr He served his time get over it

Vick should be banned for life. I will show up with signs protesting every single game if he's signed. If I spent two years in jail the only place I'd be able to get a job would be construction or fast food. Sorry, but it's a privilege to be able to work for the best companies in this country and he lost that privilege with his dispicable behavior.

Hey, if Vick wants to come and play reciever for us then I'm all for it. All the PETA members need to shut up and get a life. He killed some dogs, so what, they're animals and we're humans, that's how it works. We kill all sorts of other animals, but as soon as something bad happens to a dog the worlds gonna end. Just get over it and move on.

I don't know what teams are worrying about with PR. The only fans that they would lose are the fans wives and guys like Patrick up at the top there, but those tickets would be replaced very quickly by more devoted fans.

The NFL did the right thing by suspending Vick for a couple games because he would be the biggest story going into Week 1, which is something the NFL doesn't want and understandably so.

What people are forgetting is Vick isn't A BAD QB. He's a perfectly fine QB with a great arm. Maybe we could make him the next Antwaan Randel El, who knows, but the point is, he should be running the Wildcat. Maybe as a WR, he can throw the ball on a reverse. who knows.

Vick wasn't in jail just for killing dogs. He was in jail for masterminding an illegal interstate gambling ring for profit, which also included torturing and killing defenseless animals.

Vick doesn't have a "right" to play in the NFL. If this happened to you, when you got released from jail would you go to your boss and say "ok, I did my time, I have a right to earn a living. you have to hire me back now"....Of course not.

I love all the responses to people boycotting the Ravens if they pick up Vick. The guy's life was completely ruined and he spent more time in jail than most people that abuse children do so I think he paid his debt. Stop complaining or keep complaining and sell your tickets. I'm assuming all you people out there yelling about Vick are angels and have never done anything wrong in your life....

I personally would be more likely to boycott the season because it would be a dumb move...I wouldn't actually boycott, but you get my point. Seriously people you are out of your mind for thinking this makes us a better team. Its not like we would be bringing in a media circus around a talented receiver. Having Vick here would add an unneeded distraction from a player that might be able to play receiver. We are better off getting a veteran scrub who knows how to run routes and catch instead of someone who has never played the position against good competition and has been sitting in a jail cell for two years.

I don't particularly want Michael Vick either, Patrick, but didn't he pay his debt to society? Isn't that the way it's supposed to work?

Whenever I'm at M&T or the Yards I'm kind of partial to Italian sausages, hot dogs and barbecue. Maybe you or someone you know is too. Perhaps you should start boycotting the Ravens and Orioles right now. While you're at it lobby them to not allow Esskay employes through the gates. And cuss out Boog Powell and picket every restaurant in which a Raven holds an interest. Dogs are great, except when one is being menaced by or bitten by them, as I have been. Hogs and pigs are tasty, and we slaughter them nearly daily. And they're more intelligent than dogs.

Heinous crimes aside for a moment (and it was heinous), Vick has never really proven that he has the football intelligence to really have a consistent impact on the field. Great athlete - yes. Great football player? One of the best college players of all time but that doesn't always transfer to the next level.

This is the same guy who smoked dope during the two weeks leading up to a drug test before he went in front of the judge. Contrary to popular belief, most NFL caliber players do have a modicum of intelligence to play their position at the highest level. If you don't think so, check out a playbook for an O-lineman sometime and tell me what you think.

Personally, I don't even think he is worth wasting the time on. He never established himself as even an average NFL QB and there are established answers already out there at receiver.

And for the record - getting into a fight in a club with convicted felons who also have weapons on them is bad judgement. The fact that someone died in the process is not surprising but would you defend your friends or walk away? Throwing two dogs into a ring to fight to the death and then hanging, electrocuting or drowning those that don't perform is Hannibal Lectorish.

You have to love people such as Brian, who considers Patrick to be a "tree hugger" (apparently a perjorative term for some odd reason).

Brian feels that Vick has done his time. I wonder how the dog he electrocuted - or the dog he drowned - or the dog he shot - or the dog whose head he crushed against the ground - feels about Vick doing his time. Who is getting a second chance and who is not?

Back to Fox News for you, Brian. The truth is out there.

Michael Vick has been convicted and labeled. Over the passed decades I have seen Americans more forgiving, showing their love for murderers, rapist and athletes that have committed more heinous violation of law, yet no one has made half the stink for them as they are for Michael Vick. Athletes has illegal possess and illegal firearms and drugs yet they are allowed to play. I think we are sending mix messages. Michael should be given a second chance. If not we should no longer ask why rehabilitation is failing in American society today. Aaron Krigger Sr.

I pity all the players on any team that Vick may play on. These players have worked extremely hard to get to where they are today. Vick will be like a circus sideshow. The booing and chanting will follow Vick everywhere, and will be a complete distraction for the entire team.

Goodell took the easy way out. The real decision needs to be made by the team owners, and fans.

Hey, I love animals as much as the next guy, but man, I hope they do pick him up as a WR for league minimum. Not that I think he'll be a major game changer, but it would increase the chances of a naked PETA protest.

Remember the saying people, meat is murder.

Tasty, tasty murder.

I wil be very carefull to boo Vick everytime he walks on to our field.

Remember that Michael Vick tortured and killed innocent dogs for his own sick pleasure. He's a sadist and a horrible man that doesn't deserve to play Professional Football.

Should Vick come to the Ravens? No
We have Flacco and not to forget Troy Smith who I think is an excellent quarterback. What we all know we need is a big time receiver not a quarterback masquerading as one. Spend the money and get Marshall, then try to get Mason back or hope Plaxico can play one more year.
Should he and will he play in the NFL?
Absolutely. If he was a true big time receiver we would be and should be first in line to pick him up.
For Patrick and the others talking about giving up you seats. Be Real. I'm going to the grave with my seats. Lower Level. it don't get better than that. I'm getting butterflies just waiting for the season to begin

Just because he paid his dues means we have to welcome Vick back? Screw him he is a worthless piece of garbage, and it is my right to feel that way. Yes there are a ton of shady players in the NFL that have done horrible things. I don't like most of them either. If someone wants to boycott then who are you to tell him he can't? So for all those who say "it's just an animal", feel lucky it wasn't you who vick was torturing in his back yard.

RM,

If the players can't handle some booing or chanting, they shouldn't be playing football. Circus + Booing + Chanting = Another season as a Yankee.

I'm amazed at the responses I am reading. Had this not been Earth, I would've sworn I was in Heaven surrounded by Angels who never did anything wrong or made a mistake. Think for a second if no one ever showed you mercy for things you did in your past. Where would you be? In jail without the freedom of writing about this subject.

So, because a dog once bit you, it's okay to torture and kill them as Michael Vick so callously did???

Pigs are killed for food while Vick's dogs were tortured and killed for no other reason but for the pleasure of Michael Vick and his sadistic buddies.

Your supposed "reasoning" makes no sense.

You kidding me?

A couple bars of "Who Let The Dogs Out' and Vick would be long gone.

Who are we to stand in judgement on another human being? Did anyone make us God? Sure he made a mistake, he is human like everyone else and if everyone take a look at themselves, you will find some flaws too that you would want forgiveness for. Right now the Ravens need all the help they can get, so why not give him a chance. Wouldn't you want someone to give you a chance to redeem yourself.

Here is what you need to consider. I am a PSL owner. How many people on this board have owned Lower Level PSL's for 10+ years?? I pay over $2000/year for Raven ticket. So I essentailly am a stock holder.

What every PSL owner, fan, and Baltimorean should ask, for my investment into the team, financial, emotional, what have you, do you feel the players on the field are worthy of your investment. Ray Lewis made mistakes, but he paid his price. Michael Vick made a mistake, and paid a price. But, would I feel comfortable saying I endorse his actions by paying $200 to watch him for 4 hours on Sunday, I dont' know.

I agree that Vick has served the sentence given to him and that should be sufficient for that crime. The question I have is why would the Ravens want to bring in someone who's had questionable character for some time? He would do nothing but upset the majority of the fan base and eventually be more trouble than he's worth. Don't even consider it!

A man who was convicted of raping a five year old girl was recently given one year in prison in Texas. Michael Vick was given twice the sentence and has lost many millions of dollars. As a Virginian I have heard of the Vick family and both Michael and his brother have done some pretty dumb things. But he did serve his time and he remains a very talented athlete. Leave him alone and let him work.

Since none of you are the head of of the NFL and make hiring decisions for that organization...Shut up. I've loved animals my whole life. We have a house full of pets. I thought his act was awful. But, you aren't the judge and jury and your opinions don't matter. He lost 23 months of his life, his reputation and 100 million dollars. Now you want to take away any chance for him to redeem himself. You are all just as sick. Enough. The man paid the price. If he slips again, he should be banned for life. But give him the benefit of the doubt to prove he has changed and get off your high horses. Should he just lay down and commit suicide? Or maybe you self-righteous people who never do anything wrong can stone him on the fifty yard line to satiate your thirst for blood.

After reading these comments about Michael Vick you guys need to find a life, How is it that one man directly affected your life I dont see how yes it was wrong but to treat this man this way come on do you really think the Ravens care what you think they will just sell your tickets to somebody who really likes the game for what it is and not what the person has done outside of the game I do have one thought though will Ray have to change his Jingle from Any dogs in the house to No more dogs in the House

It is funny that all of these bleeding heart animal lovers probably cheer for Ray Lewis, despite his implications in a murder, yet would not cheer for a man who killed animals, not a person. We should just go trade for Leonard Little and Dante Stallworth too. If Ray got a second chance (deservedly so), so should Vick.

There was a great article in this paper how a mother was upset that when two pitbulls were set on fire that there was an immediate 25K award offering and people walking the streets to investigate and find the people who did this.

Ironic considering her son was shot a year or two early and the investigation is dead with NO reward money and no leads. Get over Mike Vick and Tell PETA to crawl back into the cave, parent's basement or spaceship that they live in. SPCA wants the guy to have a second chance why shouldn't they.
If he wants to be the #3 QB who also starts at wide receiver wide receiver SIGN HIM RIGHT NOW! Everyone loves a redemption story and Ray Lewis Proves this. He served his time and time to move on.

Screw PETA and the IDIOTS like patrick, who to Quote Dennis Miller, would walk across a homeless person sleeping in their own pee to spray red paint on a person wearing a fur coat!

Pat,
If we adopt your standard of logic, I don't think any of the pork eating, beef eating, poultry eating, fowl eating, sports hunters, fans and players alike should be permitted to play or watch ANY sport...

I like dogs too but I like people a lot more and given the choice between ANY animal/pet, and a humanoid, I'd prefer to give a human a second chance even if it is a knucklehead like Michael Vick.

You are, however, entitled to your opinion like the rest of us but I'd be willing to bet that if the Ravens, however unlikely, were to bring him in, that you would, in fact, peek at your wide screen on Sundays to watch the Ravens.

Just trying to keep it real...

Sorry Patrick, I guess you'll stay home while the Ravens try to repeat a season just as exciting as last years. My best friend by far has whiskers, a big snoout, four paws, is a great sniffer, a top pisser, and the greatest of friends. That said Vick was over punished. Let him make his amends and move on. He paid his price. As a old white man, I hope he makes it as a positive, community helping human being.

leave Vick alone, he did his time..... I do not like the idea about dog fighting however he has paid the price for what he did. I too belong to PETA, that is people eating tasty animals

I'm thinking that the NFL doesn't need any more negative stuff, but the season is starting again. Which means we'll have a whole new batch of misfits to make fun of. Let MV play out his last year or two! Then he can go back to gambling or whatever.

Only God can judge! Who are you people that are so self righteous. Wow! Why don't you dog lovers and PETA representatives start fussing about all the good ole' boys that go hunting every week. Hunting is celebrated! Vick was wrong! He paid his debt to society and has to live with what he's done in the past. Let the man move on and make the rest of his life positive. Let's Go Ravens! I would cut Troy Smith in a heartbeat and replace him with Michael Vick. We are going to have to be super creative on offense this year.

I love the conditional tolerance of Ravens fans: a commenter on this post will support a double-murderer at Linebacker but not a dog killer?

Well RB, that just shows your level of obsurdness, and ignorance. Ray was never a "double-murderer" as you stated so get some correct info before making yourself look really foolish. And to each their own. Someone who might not like to hear about dogs being killed but i bet that that person hasn't done a thing to help to prevent it.

So RB, as it is, you and Patrick are one in the same in your way of thinking. Way to go!

Hey Fang Guy, your an idiot. Vick didn't kill humans or babys there dogs. The pounds across America kill billions of dogs every week. If he killed a human then it would be different. As I have heard they want to cut down on cat and dog population anyway. Vick did more time then some petifiles and your gooing to complain. Go to work and make some money and forget about it.

If you are on the same side as PETA on anything you can pretty much rest assured that you are on the wrong side of an issue. Those people value the life of an any as much as the life of a human.

Also, Ray Lewis was only even charged in the first place because he was a celebrity. That topic has been discussed ad naseum, no reason to rehash it. Especially when the things most people are saying on here are entirely divorced from the facts of the situation.

This is the greatest and funniest blog response I've ever seen on here. Clearly Vick isn't coming here. Clearly. No chance would Oz & Harbs risk the team chemistry with something like this.

I completely agree with the 'debt paid to society' people. Playing the NFL isn't a right, it's a blessing for those that have talent. Gimme a break about your "rights".

I am completely disgusted by what he did but, the wife-beaters, rapists, etc in the NFL need to be banned too before Vick is kept away. He was made an example of. The guy has lost everything and hopefully has learned something from it.

If he was kept out, he is very likely to get back into bad behaviors b/c he doesn't have an education to allow him to get a good job (sorry, its the truth, not a stab at VT).

Fang Guy is questioning how dogs would feel about Vick's reinstatement!!! You've got to be kidding me. Let me guess...you boycotted the NBA playoffs because Kobe was charged with rape then paid the woman off? And you boycotted the Cleveland Browns last season because Jamal Lewis ran for them. Well, this year I'm sure you'll boycott the Cleveland Browns, the city of Cleveland and the color brown if Dante Stalleworth steps foot on the field. Oh wait...Kobe, Jamal, and Dante's actions only affected humans...so they're the good guys.

Its funny to me how all of the Vick haters didn't address the earlier comment about hunting and killing deer, then bragging about it by cutting of the heads and hanging them on the walls of homes, restaurants, etc. Fang Guy and others, what do you think Bambi's folks are saying as they're being slaughtered for fun, sport, food and snack (jerky)?

Vick isn't sorry about what he did, but he is sorry he got caught. It was his upbringing. He does not value the lives of dogs. If he has been doing it long enough, I doubt jail time changed his mind. It is similar to terrorists not valuing their lives or that of others.

Also, dog fighting is different from hunting. Hunting isn't the practice of training animals to kill other animals. When you hunt, hopefully you eat your kill.

Give him a shot to comeback. You don't have to look up to them off the field, just enjoy what they do on the field. In Vick's case, I don't think he is all that great of a QB.

Stop being self righteous and holier than thou.

I don't even think it remotely feasible that Vick would come here and play WR. We don't need him at QB. I always have and still do think he's over-rated. He's a great athlete yes, but and over-rated QB. He tries to be the whole team and good D's shut him down. Notice that Atlanta is better now that he's gone. I am a dog lover so I personally can't stand the guy, but he paid dearly for what he did and does have the right to make a living. I just hope it's on another team. I can always hope we have a dog-loving linebacker that puts him on a stretcher.

Oh, and I'm not defending the gun-happy Deer-hunter referred to earlier, but I do need to point out that at least they (the legal ones), or someone they know, eats what they kill. Vick and his boys just strung up dogs from a tree and beat them to death because they weren't any good for fighting and I seriously doubt they ate them. There's a sound difference there. So, whoever said "that's the same thing" is a moron.

Everybody need to grow up and let the past be the past. This man served 2 years in prison and he paid paid for what he did.the man made a mistake and now he is trying get on with his life.Crime is a part of life, and it been going on since the beggining of time.

Everybody need to grow up.Crime been going since the begining of time, and this man has served his time.Let the past be the past. You got people on tv hunting deer and all kinds of animals for a sport and hanging there heads on the wall.So what is the differents, murder is murder.you eat animals so you just as bad as he is.

Remember this. Vick will be a Viking now Brett has stayed retired.

wildcat with the dogman; let the fans scream as he sweeps left-pivots on his right-flicks it back to joeflo and then....freedom ring.
get real-it's limited time shopping

All you Vick haters "get over yourselves" the man done the "time" no more should be asked, boycott if you must, but who truly care, stop purchasing game day tickets, "you wont put a dent in the bottom line" stay home who cares, "no one that matters" who is going to miss you, "NO ONE"

The details that got to me then and stay with me today involve the swimming pool that was used to kill some of the dogs. Jumper cables were clipped onto the ears of underperforming dogs, then, just like with a car, the cables were connected to the terminals of car batteries before lifting and tossing the shamed dogs into the water. Most of Vick’s dogs were small – 40lbs or so – so tossing them in would’ve been fast and easy work for thick athlete arms. We don’t know how many suffered this premeditated murder, but the damage to the pool walls tells a story. It seems that while they were scrambling to escape, they scratched and clawed at the pool liner and bit at the dented aluminum sides like a hungry dog on a tin can. Ravens don't need Vick he is more trouble than he's worth. His incarceration did not rehabilitate him or make him smarter.

First of all, Mike Vick is too short to play wide receiver. Second of all, I don't think the Ravens would pursue him, just because of the bad PR. I think Harbaugh is just throwing something out there so people don't focus on the Mason situation so much.

In other news, friend of a friend own's a moving company which which just was hired to move everything from Mason's house to Tennessee...

I understand why so many feel so passionate about dogs but they should understand that many southern african americans were once forbidden to even own dogs and Vick is from the south so some of those age old prohibitions may be the root of his actions. It was once against the law in many states including maryland for free blacks to own a dog without a special license and and in mississippi it was illegal for african americans to even own a dog. That was the past... Vick committed a crime, was convicted, he served his time, he is now free and since the commissioner has deemed that he can play he should be allowed to do so. If he can contribute to our team or any other he should be given a tryout. BTW, who is that 3rd string QB?

Judgement day has come and gone. I've read majority of the comments and feel that on average VICK can play for the RAVENS.

The END...

P.S.
Go RAVENS!

Let's all join hands and get it done for another Super Bowl run.

I agree with many of the people who posted. As horrific as it may seem to some, what he did is done. His dues have been paid and he deserves a right to play football. These men are not role models and shouldn't be made out to be. They're highly paid athletes most of which come from urban areas. In many of these areas it's almost like a third world country coming up. The difference between right and wrong may be skewed in accordance to your own. I don't like him, but he should be able to return to his craft if he can get a job just like the rest of us.....and he will.

Stop with the Ray Lewis arguments already ..... Ray was NOT convicted of a felony crime. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor obstruction of justice charge. There was no evidence his role was anything other than trying to break up the fight. Michael Vick is a convicted felon.

I love dogs and hate what he did. If he came here he could help the team and help the community help stop dog fighting. A condition of his release is that he help stop dog fighting. Baltimore has a serious dog fighting that rarely is talked about on the news. He could help stop, not encourage dog fighting. It could only help stop the problem.

He did his time.
Would you hire the wife beater or the drunk that killed a kid.
The point is he makes poor choices on and off the field.

Everyone here threatening to drop their PSLs.... please do so with haste. I urge you to make your feelings known as soon as possible.

There are thousands of people behind you (ahem) who are waiting for your knee-jerk reactions. Don't make them wait any longer. Your "protest" will be forgotten in about 5 seconds when your abandoned PSL is purchased by the next guy on the list.

I wouldn't care one bit if Vick came to Baltimore. I can almost assure you he'd have more of an impact than Figurs as a receiver... and bring a lower price tag.

I think that all of the people here who say that Vick is dispicable are despicable for being unable to spell properly.

Also: everyone who says "he doesn't have the right to the job" are missing the point. Your boss wouldn't hire you back after a felony because he can probably find a hundred knuckleheads just like you. Like it or not, Vick is a proven elite NFL athlete. Guess what? Those don't come around very often!

The moralizing around Mike Vick is hilarious. If Ray Lewis proves anything, it's that there's no one so righteous as a reformed sinner, and everyone loves a redemption story -- so long as that redemption story involves winning on Sunday.

I for one would not spend a nickel on the Ravens with Vick in the uniform. I'd feel the same way if it was a rapist or child abuser.

The distinction for me between Vick's case and a drunk driver is intent. Vick engaged in planned and sustained barbarism. He also was involved in illegal gambling. A no-no for professional sport.

Yes, he's served his time and has a right to seek gainful employment, but it is not a requirement to give him a job. It is also not my duty to forget his crime.

The Ravens talk of high character players. Vick does not fit that mold.

We don't need Vick. We love our Ravens. He would be a blemish on our team.

Sorry no sympathies here for Vick. Let him go to the UFL. If the little guy goes to prison the only job he would get would be working at fast food. Will boycott all Ravens games and become a Steelers fan! Lets get the facts straight Ray did not murder anyone. Two other people did! The Ravens have three good QBS. Now they need a good WR and it is not Vick! I hope John Hardbaugh and the Ravens organization is reading these comments!

let vick play for us hes a good fast player he did the time so let it go hes a good player every makes mistake if u boycott the ravens cuz of ick u aint no raven fan if ur real fan tick with them through thick and thin

People kill all sorts of animals each day illegal or legal for instance would if u accidentally run over ur state bird thats killin an animal or run over a deer on the highway. They have duck season and deer season. is that ok to kill animals no its not.
Everyone who goes to Las Vegas gambles doesnt mean its not good if someone bets on Dallas beating patroits or patriots beating the Giants thats called gambling also.
Vick planned the dogs fightin maybe or yea but at least he didnt kill a human being who CANNOT BE REPLACED give him a chance and leave him alone.
there are many people who commit crimes each day and get away with it or get coght and dont serve time they jus pay a ticket. we eat cows deer jerky and other animals thats the same as eatin a dog. eat wat u kill ok would that be ok if they fought dogs and then we eat the dead dog no that wouldnt be alrite its the same thing as killin a cow then we eat it, so if they eat the dead dog would everyone be happy??? but served his time so he deserves to play football

Michael fought dogs who can be replaced but a human being who was killed by Donte Stallworth
is not a big deal.
He didnt mean to kill the person but u cant replace a person.
Vick deserves a second chance like everyone else, Plaxico Burress has not served time yet
but right away vick does. Stallworth gets a month in jail and 8 yrs of probation
is not good for killin someone
he was lucky he didnt go for life. But Vick goes for a year and a half then home confinement and house arrest
he did a lot to serve time now let him play football and everyone leave him alone and besides he is a good QB he can bring alot to the table and everyone knows that. He can run probably faster than the other QBs and he can also pass give him a second chance and leave him alone

Hah. Yeah, stay home. That will end dogfighting forever, I'm sure.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't do it!!!!!!!

There have been players in the NFL that have done way worse than bet on dog fighting like Vick. and no one is giving them as hard of a time like Vick is getting, most people look at them like heroes and their crimes were against humans so a dogs life is more important than a humans? who am i speaking of ? research it.

i repeat, check this out: the ring of it goes to the song WhoLetTheDogsOut:
wildcat moves about, WOhOhOhOh; joeflo flips it out, WOhOhOhOh; dogman runs it out, WOhOhOhOh; (or does he, why not threaten to throw it!) it's vickman that's WhoOhOhOh.
winningisgreedy

Hey Patrick,
Lets start up a vegetarian league.

Everyone here wants to get to the Superbowl so badly they don't care how we do it. No one is interested in the integrity of the men we put on the field apparently. Vick is more than just a dog torturer and murderer he's an all around s****y guy. He's stolen money from his company's 401K, charity foundation and a rolex from a TSA security guard. This isn't the type of man I am going to pay a dollar towards supporting.

If you all want to win any way possible go ahead and take this scumbag but I would rather support a losing team of decent talented guys than win with a team of thugs.

baltimore is the absolute worst place vick could be. with all the recent acts of violence against animals in this city...PHOENIX, the pitbull that was doused in gasoline and set on fire, the cat that was chained to a post with fireworks under it's head...we don't need mike vick here making it seem okay, like it's not a big deal..all you have to do is serve a little sentence and life goes on, you get to be a big football star again, to the troubled youth and sick people in this city that abuse animals.

if you went to jail for the things he did...the dog fighting, the whole crime ring he had going on...would you be able to get your job back?? you'd be flipping burgers.

the bottom line is what's done mayb be done but it was still despicable and he is NOT going to be a good representative for this city.

Ah, the loyalty of Baltimore fans never ceases to amaze me. One second they're defending Ray Lewis, by yelling the word Aquitted to anyone who's ever questioned his past. The next second, they're calling him a murderer for the chance to get this @$$hole Vick.
I live in Baltimore, and it's one of the worst cities I can imagine. The ONLY thing to root for here is a sports team, so they take it very seriously. I love the Ravens so much it hurts, but there's no way I can support a team who would hire a dog killer. I think it's a whole other level of cruelty than wife-beating and drug dealing, although I don't think anyone accused of those crimes should be playing either. There's plenty of hardworking men out there who'd love a shot at taking their place. Maybe if you gave them stricter penalties, they'd stay out of trouble (same goes for criminals in Baltimore City, ironically.)
I'd put dogfighting up there with pedophile, because it's basically causing harm to something with no voice.
Yes, he did his time. Yes, he should be able to be employed. But let the man bang a hammer or flip burgers. He doesn't deserve anything.

Unbelievable comments. What Michael Vick did to dogs is in no way comparable to humane euthanasia of unwanted pets or even hunting of wildlife. Torture (let's hook up jumper cables and throw dogs in a pool to fry?) is something enjoyed by a sick mind. "Growing up with it" is not an excuse. The man didn't live in a cave all of this life - he was clearly capable of understanding how vulgar the activity was and didn't care.

He's far from alone when it comes to pro-athletes who think they're above the law and commit heinous crimes. I don't think any of them should [have] bee[n] allowed to play and rake in big bucks.

It will be an embarrassment to the city of Baltimore if the Ravens pick him up.

I'm pretty sure there is no cure for "psychopath". A psychopath can never be made to feel the horror of murder. Vick is not someone who killed out of self defense or with a split decision in reaction to something. He knew exactly what he was doing everytime he did it and allowed the murdering to happen. He does not deserve to know the priveledge of playing on a professional football team. What an awful message that would be to send to our children! If Vick needs a job I'm sure he can find one somewhere else.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE OZZIE!!! GO GET VICK!!! Michael Vick in Baltimore!!! YES!!!

ok. it is very clear that vick is not ganna be picked up as a QB. all we have to do is take a look back to last year and what Flacco did as a rookie and the ravens track record is that u do not give up on your QB. Flacco is hear to stay as starting QB. and if you are really thinking of boycotting the games give away your tickets because you are a retard and do not deserve to go to the ravens games

micheal vick is a dog murderer and doesnt deserve to play on any team i think he should be banned from the nfl

If the Ravens pick up Vick, my seats will be empty.

Patrick, you and all of your followers are insensitive "Jerks". So, the man made a mistake and served his time. If God forgave him, why can't we? I believe he is still a great player, and we can use another great football player with a strong arm and scrambling abilities, whether he is a qb or wide receiver. Baltimore wants Mr. Vick! So, GO GET HIM OZZIE NEWSOME!!

it doesnt make sense football wise. but he deserves to play in the nfl.

Just think of how cool it would be if both Vick and Flacco were in the backfield for the same play? It opens many possibilities for a struggling offense. Personally, though, I wish the Bears hadn't passed on him. What if Cutler gets hurt by a cheap shot like the Chiefs defender did to Tom Brady last year? Chicago hasn't had a reliable QB in over 20 years.

Most of you seem to be missing the point here. What Michael did was not a singular incident which can be attributed to a momentary lapse in judgment. If he had been attending a dog fight that got busted or if he was simply giving money to his brother and his brother was the criminal, then I could understand making excuses for this man. But that is simply not the case. He knowingly did something illegal, and continued doing it each and every day. He beat and tortured living things ON PURPOSE. He is a criminal, not a first time offender. He has served his time and has a right to enter into society. But he does not have a right to work in the NFL and be in a position where he even has the possibility of being idolized. And by the way, the argument of "He killed dogs not humans, come on people" is small minded and unfair. You are not comparing apples to apples. You cannot compare an accident that was irresponsible and ended in harm to an intention to inflict harm to an innocent living things simply for your own pleasure.

i dont think mike vick should ever play nfl again. i love the ravens but i will to stop liking them if they hire mike vic. the man had a good job making millions and he still had a huge roll in dog fighting. if you ask me 2 years is not long enough. and to the person who made the comment about having nothing better to do i guess thats why mike did the dog fighting lol. i think he should have to work a normal job and not have the privlage of being in the nfl.

Vick should be allowed to play. Not caring about him killing a few dogs, could care less about their lives, now when he kills a human being, then i will change my thought about Vick, but until then, all you animals lovers, eat a d***.

It would be ironic to watch Vick do the "any dogs in the house" chant with Ray Lewis...

the heck with whether Vick is an angel or a demon discussion...how many Superbowls have we made it to with our "different QB every season" approach since 2000? Zero! right...let's focus on our season and keeping Ray and Joe Flacco at the front of this team!

Stallworth is lucky he didn't run over a Pitt-bull god forbid! He would never see the light of day let alone play in the NFL again...those who despise vick and never want to see him do good again are new milleniuem racist(new breed) vick is a human with a super natural athletic ability who has lost everything. I would pay to see him try and make his 10 mill a year back
