Which Ravens will be limited in minicamp?

Starting right guard Marshal Yanda will be limited in the Ravens’ minicamp this weekend and likely will be placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of training camp.

Yanda had surgery in October to repair the medial and posterior collateral ligaments in his right knee and then underwent surgery for his torn anterior cruciate ligament in December.

Until Yanda is ready, the Ravens are expected to go with Chris Chester at right guard.

The Ravens’ cornerback group will also have a number of players limited because of injury: Fabian Washington (shoulder surgery), Samari Rolle (groin), Chris Carr (shoulder surgery), Frank Walker (shoulder surgery) and Derrick Martin (shoulder). Some could wear red jerseys to help them avoid any contact.

Wide receiver Derrick Mason (shoulder surgery) won’t participate in minicamp as a precautionary measure. The Ravens are interested in how much receiver Demetrius Williams (ankle) can handle.

Others who could be limited are: running back Willis McGahee, who recently had a procedure to clean out his knee; tight end Todd Heap (back); receiver Mark Clayton (unknown) and linebacker Antwan Barnes (chest).

I really feel this season is going to be a "sink or swim" season for both Demetrius Williams and Yamon Figurs. While Demetrius has the size many want to see in an NFL receiver, Yamon has the speed. These two need to step up in a big way if they want to remain a part of the Ravens organization or play any role in the NFL.

I think inviting Porter is a good idea..you never know, he might turn it around. I like the rookie free agents we picked up as well. Thoughts on them Jamison?

The best undrafted rookie is Georgia outside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. I think he would have been drafted in the fourth round if he didn't have some character issues. Of all the undrafted guys, Ellerbe is my favorite to make the team.

Other guys to watch: Florida State kicker Graham Gano (even though I predict Hauschka will be the kicker this season) and Minnesota defensive end Willie VanDeSteeg.

I just read who the Ravens were bringing in this weekend to try out for WR. Read their stats and you'll know why they are all looking for a job. Abysmal.

Todd Heap limited at minicamp? Stop the presses!

I'm excited to see how the WR corp will fill out and who will be the front runner to replace BS. Not to mention future replacements for Ray and Pryce.

I am completely SHOCKED that Heap is showing up on the injury report.

It is nice to see that Willis decided to have the procedure on his knee during the off season and not at the start of training camp.

What are the thoughts on the wr Eron Riley from Duke/

I am pumped about Ellerbe. He could be good depth behind Ray and Gooden.

GHT,
The WRs they are bringing in are not as bad as their numbers show. Porter was injured the majority of last year. He was decent in Oakland a few years back, but suffered from.... well being in Oakland.
DJ Hackett was pretty good in Seattle as well. Again, he had a down year last year after going to Carolina. I think injuries got him too.

Why is no one making any mention of Marvin Harrison?? Is he too expensive?? These other WR's that are coming in have worse stats than the ones we already have!!! I would stick with what we have, before signing a whiner like Porter!

Here I am again, having to defend Todd Heap. The main reason he is constantly injured is because he plays with no regard to his personal safety. He doesn't duck hits, he hits back. When he catches the ball, he plays like a warrior delivering blows rather than stepping out of bounds. Once the Ravens let him run routes instead of constantly blocking, all you haters will be changing your tune.

Re: "thoughts on Eron Riley from Duke" by Sean

He's got ALL of the physical traits (tall and fast) and is versatile being a KR as well as WR...here's his bio:

BUT he played for Duke and I heard he may have a character issue?

I'm surprised that Sizzles arm and shoulder have completely healed.I'm not buying this non report about it,yet, but at least it is'nt being highlighted at this time. Please,I have a cranky back so Todd Heap has to live with it like some of us;no surprise.

BRENT-
harrison's game is very similar to mason. veteran guy, lots of moves, a few injuries, not a burner but crafty and reliable, not a field stretcher and then there's the extra baggage from the whole shooting incident. he could definitely help solidify the wr roster but in the immediate long term who knows.

money might be the issue there. believe me, if NO other team went knocking on harrison's door then somebody must know something else too.

porter was in oakland so let's give him a break regardless.

the other guys i have no clue about.

and heap can be a hero again if he ever makes it to the field and doesn't have to block. seriously, if the ravens ran a receiver deep then had heap just in between running a shallow post over the dead middle like every team does to us he would be a pro bowler again easily.

What's with all the players getting shoulder surgery? Did they get a group discount?

I'm predicting Riley could be a diamond-in-the-rough: 2,400 yards/22 touchdown catches/4.36 speed @ Pro Day.....which would have been the 4th fastest time at the Combine. And, 6-3/210 lbs. There is your speedster.

10-11 injured players and it's not even mini camp. This is going to be a tough season.

Derrick Martin's biggest "limitation" is his severe lack of talent. What's the point of keeping him on the roster???

was up with prescott burgess whats his future
