Maryland ties headed to NFL

As soon as the draft finished, the pursuit of undrafted free agents started in earnest Sunday night. At least seven players from Maryland, Morgan State or Towson signed with NFL teams on Monday.

Maryland had six players sign, including wide receiver Isaiah Williams with the Ravens. Offensive linemen Scott Burley (Woodlawn) and Edwin Williams signed with the Redskins, and linebackers Dave Philistine and Chase Bullock signed with the Cardinals. Defensive end Jeremy Navarre (Joppatown) signed the the Jaguars.

Terps linebacker Trey Covington was still weighing his options, agent Kevin Fitzpatrick said Monday.

Morgan State nose tackle Lonnie Harvey (Edmondson) signed a three-year deal with the Panthers.

Three more local players will receive free-agent tryouts. Defensive linebacker Dean Muhtadi and offensive lineman Dane Randolph (Wilde Lake) of Maryland will try out with the Packers. Towson's 6-foot-7 wide receiver Tommy Breaux will try to earn a contract in this weekend's minicamp with the Redskins.

I was very happy to see so many of the Terps get Free Agency offers after not getting drafted, but I'm thoroughly confused and surprised abt what Danny Oquendo. He was a versatile player for MD last year and I would think would aid any NFL team. I was surprised the Ravens offered Williams and not Oquendo a Free Agent deal.
Any info would be appreciated.

Fridgen's NFL style system is obviously loved by NF teams.

Now, if only his system could translate into winning the ACC!

I totally agree with Mike, Oquendo was always making the catches when DHB was disappearing in games. How is Williams the guy that we sign? I understand Oquendo is slow, but he can catch a football and run routes you'd think someone would have taken a flyer on him.

I agree with all of the above about Oquendo. Except he's not THAT slow!

How about it Ken? Any info?

Over/under on how long Jerry Porter's me first act plays with Harbaugh: 30 minutes

Danny's life has always been about proving himself. At Maryland he was known as being too slow(Dave was right, on a good day he runs 4.4 40) but yet he made the clutch plays. Of course I'm his biggest fan so my opinion is really not worth any weight right about now but all we can say other than confused, my little man always travels the hard road. It breeds character and determination. Hopefully he will land on the team that can use him. His potential is unlimited, and his heart(which may be a reason teams backed off due to procedure last year) is unstoppable!! Keep him in your thoughts, TerpNation. Where ever he lands, he'll always be a Terp!!
