Good idea to pass on national night games in Pittsburgh

The Ravens made a smart move by notifying the league they didn’t want to play any national night games against the Steelers in Pittsburgh this season.

For the past two seasons, the Ravens have played national games in Pittsburgh, and it’s a major advantage for the Steelers.

The organization knows how to work the crowd. The Steelers always bring back their old-timers for the games, and it gets the crowd in a frenzied mood. The Steelers introduce former players like Jack Lambert, Jack Ham and Andy Russell before the game or at halftime. It doesn’t sound like much, but it definitely helps get the crowd going.

It’s good that the Ravens finally wised up.

its fascinating to read the websites like PFT where the Squealer fans like to call us cowards. Interesting that the last night game against Pittsburgh in Bmore was over 5 years ago. Lets let the Squealers come here a few times and then we'll take another trip up to Yinstown.

I've never seen a fan make a tackle, throw a block, catch a pass, or audible to another play at the line of scrimmage. The assertion that the fans have something to do with the wins/losses it is spoken/written solely for the fan's consumption. (keeps the faithful selling out the statium, right!?)

But the reasons the Raven's lost those games were because they didn't yet know how to close out a good team when they had them on the ropes. Sure, crowd noise makes changing the call at the line a little harder, causes a false start every once in a blue moon to be certain. But during the play, ask any player, they hear nothing.

Teams have to learn how to win over time. Just because you can build a roster in a year with free agency/draft doesn't mean that you can build a superbowl contender overnight.

Just a thought...

I'm fairly sure I heard that Pittsburgh is unbeaten at home in MNF games since the 70's. Let them have their Thursday night opener with whomever, we'll be glad to host them in a later MNF game later in the season.

I am sure the league will want to have at least 1 prime time Ravens vs Steelers game and it will be good to have it here. Plus CBS will probably want one of the games so let Jim and Phil go to Pittsburgh.

We can bring back former Ravens and introduce them at halftime.

Peter Bowlware
Trent Dilfer
The Goose
Matt Stover
Why not invite Cal Ripkin also?

It's Yinztown!! Get it right.. We are not the ones asking to play during the day...

I guess those comments from Mr. Harbaugh and Mr. R. Lewis ( in the general vein of "Doesn't matter where or when we play the Steelers, it's just another football game," etc.) is really just so much BS. Who'd have thunk it? And for Ed from Park Heights [which I assume is a neighborhood in Baltimore) and all the other Ravens' fans, notice I manged to make a comment with resorting to calling Ravens' fans or their city anything other than "Ravens' fans or their city."

I suspect the motivation behind this request by the Ravens is that if they play opening day in Pitt, than due to the Os schedule they may be on the road three of the first four weeks. This is not only tough on the team, but takes away prime weather weekends for the crowd in Baltimore.

I was there for the Monday Night game in '07. The crowd was not in a frenzy. The stadium wasn't even full. At halftime, when the 75th anniversary team came out, 90% of the seats were empty. There was almost nobody tailgating. They had no chants or cheers and barely made any noise at all. Ravens fans yelled, cheered and taunted with no response. I have no idea where this myth of the great football atmosphere in Pittsburgh comes from. It's not there. It doesn't exist. The Ravens lost the 2007 game because Steve McNair and Corey Ivy stunk up the joint. They lost last year because they had a rookie quarterback. End of story. Of course it's not fair to have to play on prime time every year in your biggest rival's home stadium, but the Ravens could win that game this year if they played it. Just ask Joe Flacco if he hates going to Pittsburgh as much as Ben Roethlisberger hates coming to Baltimore. Next to the bunch at M&T, their crowd doesn't exist.

Squealer fans can spin all they want but this is about fairness. If the league made the Jets play on Mon nights at NE every year they would complain too. Same with Dal and Was. This has become the best rivalry in the league, the teams should rotate Mon night home games. Otherwise tell them to take their Iron Crappy beer and shove it.

ed, i understand why you are frustrated. since baltimore has joined the division, the steelers have won seven division titles, had eight playoff appearances, and two super bowl titles. we are a problem that just won't go away. either your management or coach have made the determination, and rightfully so, that the ravens, under certain circumstances are not able to compete with the steelers.
i highly doubt that coach tomlin would make the same decision.
i suspect that the message that this decision sends to it's players is not one that most championship calibre organizations would want to advocate.

Good. I hate having to wait all day or Monday night to watch the Ravens play. I'd prefer they play all their games at 1:00 with an occasional 4:15 start time. Prime time games are overrated, IMO.

I thought Harbaugh's boys were "Mighty Men"? All I heard all season was "just tell us where and when the next game is and we'll show up." It will be interesting to see how these hollow words play (on the players, fans and media) once the euphoria of Billick's firing finally wears off. I have a feeling this "new age" for the Ravens won't be nearly as fun once everyone realizes that Bisciotti is a borish jock-sniffer and Harbaugh is in over his head. But in the meantime, keep raising ticket prices and ducking your arch rival, you mighty men you.

I didn't know the NFL was open to scheduling requests unless it was due to baseball conflicts or other things of a similar nature.

Perhaps the Ravens could see if the NFL is amenable to no Steelers-Ravens games at all.

Do we see if we can go for 4 versus Cleveland?

Just saying....

eff the steelers. Come to the nest for a nite game and see how it works out!

It's funny that the idea that the Steelers may have favored status is so foreign to Steeler fans. They don't notice that the only home night games the Ravens ever get are on Christmas day or the last game of the year, while the Steelers routinely get 8 night games per year, all nationally televised. I don't think the Steelers played at 1 pm more than twice last season. Every game was on Sunday or Monday night, or was at 415pm Sunday to get it on national TV. And don't even get me started about the officiating when the Steelers are involved........just ask the Cardinals, who didn't get the ball for the entire 3rd quarter of the SB due to bogus refs calls, or the Seahawks, who actually had a SB stolen from them and handed to the Steelers. I'm glad the Ravens finally said "enough is enough." Let's play a Monday night game here for once.

The league still discriminates against Baltimore. The NFL loves Pittsburgh and the Indy. jackasses and go out of their way to keep Baltimore in" its place".They want the screw-job that we got for years to continue even in subtle ways. Football should be played in the afternoon with the home field advantage alternating. Nothing is more obnoxios in Baltimore than terrible towels and BaltimoreColt memorabelia in Indianappolis.

Fan-

Thanks for giving a rational reason. I wish the Ravens' managment had given the reason for this decison in any of their public discussions.

And to everyone else, playing here will not always save you, The Six Time World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers have won in Baltimore before, and they will again. And the Steeler Nation will be there to cheer them on- even on a Monday night.

So it's a tradition that the Super Bowl chanp opens up with a home game on national TV? I guess that must have started a year after the Ravens won because if I recall The Broncos opening up the follwing year because they had a new stadium.

The weather might be a little colder up in Pitt later in the season but our rivalry does'nt need to be rushed for prime time tv on day one,for pete's sake.I don't care where we play them first but 1st game of the season, rematch of AFC championship is just a league hyped game for instant ratings and I'm glad we're protecting our territory in using better judgement.Thanks.

Steelers fans have a lot of mouth when they're on a message board. Not so much anywhere else, even at their own stadium. Maybe the Ravens are just sick of playing in front of lame crowds and empty yellow seats in prime time.

we see these games on monday and that is not fair to us to have a monday night football game pitt every year and ever other team get rotated now what so now what

It doesn't matter if the NFL grants our request. Chances are that if the Pittsburgh game is in December, that it would get flexed to Prime Time.

Seriously? You guys are the biggest bunch of wusses I have ever seen. We handed you your butts in the AFC Championship so now you're afraid to come here? What's the new uniform this year -- purple skirts? You guys are a joke!

Typical cowards. Wahhhhh!!!!!!!! Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a huge Ravens fan (been to every home game they've ever played) but let's face it: the Steelers own us. And it aint getting any better with Johnny Boy Harbaugh already 0-3 in his coaching career vs. Pitt. It's nice we have a team and all, but we're a second tier (at best) franchise. Just be happy you don't have black lung disease and live in the limited gene pool of Pittsburgh.

I bet you Raven taste like Chicken.

I love this. You can run but you can't hide, Ravens. Poor babies are afraid to come up to the Burgh at night? This seriously made me lose some respect for Harbaugh and Co. Poor poor scared babies.

Somebody call the wah-mbulance!
What a bunch of cry babies. Seems like all we ever hear from the Ravens and the Raven faithful is a lot of trash talk about physical-this and swagger-that follwed by a lot of excuses and crying when you fail to win when it really matters. Now you're trying to make your own schedule, and no one is supposed to have a problem with that, are you kidding? Steelers had the toughest schedule in the league last year, and won it all. Stop crying, man up and win a game when it matters.

I totally agree with the Frequesnt Little Italy Restaurant Visitor. Steeler Nation is everywhere, especially in Baltimore. Deal with it. Once a Steeler Fan, always a Steeler Fan no matter that state you may reside in.

Kevin, You accused the Ravens of ducking games against the Steelers. In case you haven't seen the schedule, the Ravens will play two games against the Steelers this season, just like the last 11 seasons. How is that ducking their arch-rival?

Personally, I would love to play the Steelers to open the season. 2008 is over. Steelers won. Get over it. But, it makes sense to open at home vs. on the road. Also, I like the idea that both teams get some games under their belts before they meet. That way, both teams have their act's together and the games are much more meaningful.

the nfl wants the rivalry just for ratings. pittsburgh routinely gets their fair share of questionable calls [but i won't go there in this edition.] the ravens lose and the nfl benefits. -case closed.
its Funny. why would they send the same team every year? does any other team have the same setup for the same date? i am seriously asking.

I'll bet the Ravens are tired of having to play night games at Heinz Field. Boo-hoo-hoo!!!!!

While they're at it, lobby the league to see if they can move the Ravens into a totally new division. Maybe then they'll have a chance to win something.

"Please Mr. Commissioner, don't make us go BACK THERE!!!!"

Too funny...

Where can one send the cheese to go with all this whine???

I traveled down to Baltimore for the Steelers game in December last year and had a great time in the city. Then, we went to the game, waved our terrible towels and had a great time as well.
Now, I may have had a few outrageously overpriced beers, but I'm pretty sure it was dark out from the second quarter on. And I know it was dark when Ben led the Steel on a 90 yard game winning drive against dancing Ray and the boys.
I would love to stop down there again. At night. With yet another SB ring.

What a bunch of unfocused and ridiculous whiners you all are. My goodness.

I guess Mike Barwick must not have been in Pittsburgh for the 2008 games against the Ravens, because our "non-existent" fans made enough noise to shake the stadium down after Woodley's fumble recovery TD and then Polamalu's interception return that ended your season. In 2007, maybe people weren't as raucous because the game was already over at halftime. Does 35-7 ring a bell?

And then you have poor dumb John cmplaining about the advantage that the Steelers get by playing in prime time all of the time. That's not an advantage. All of the short weeks and changes in routine make it harder to play, not easier.

Anyway, enjoy yourselves here at your little pity party. When the best thing you have going for you is the ability to say "Squealers" and "Stealers" and giggle at yourselves like a bunch of second graders, you have to take small victories like these and savor them, right?

Two more things, while I'm here.

First, some of you say "let's let the Squealers come down to heroin town to play at the pigeon's nest for a night game" before we have to go back there. Okay. Sure. Why not? Do you really think a Mike Tomlin-led Steeler team would care or complain? They play the next game on the schedule, wherever and whenever it is, and usually they win it. But if they don't win, they don't start blaming the refs and the league and spouting off ridiculous conspiracy theories.

Second, I hope I'm in the stands on the day that the Ravens trot out Ogden, Boulware, Dilfer, Siragusa, and Matt Stover to fire up the crowd. Boy, that would be awesome. What a storied history you have. Trent Dilfer? That almost wouldn't be fair. Peter Boulware? The crowd would go nuts. I can almost feel the excitement. Almost.

i just want to ask how many members of 'steeler nation' (wow, real original term, never heard that before), are actually PIRATES fans??? unless you like all teams from the city you are nothing more than a fair weather fan..

Mike - Best move the Ravens coaching staff ever made because they know that's a guaranteed loss.

What happened to Mike Harbaugh's comment "We'll play anyone at any time" what a joke. You should write a story about what a bunch of chickens the Ravens are

Good teams win on the road and at home, in good weather and bad, in cold and heat, in the daylight or at night. Excuses for perceived disadvantages are weak. Play the game or don't. Why complain about it? Championship teams deal with it.

No Maas!!! Pathetic. I guess after three tries the Ravens have thrown in the towel!!

let's change our names to the Baltimore Sissys while we're at it. National TV against the SuperBowl champs & Baltimore declines??? This team has embarrassed true football fans again. Let's play some ball & get past this fear of everything Steeler.

IT ISN"T THE CROWD THAT BEATS YOUR &*&^* IT IS THE STEELERS!!

If I recall, in the last two super bowls won by the Steelers, the referees won the Steelers/Seahawks game and were VERY inconsistent in roughing the passer calls in the Steelers/Cardinals game. Warner was getting mugged as the ball was landing in the hands of the receivers and no flags. I think the refs penalized Arizona for roughing the passer when they looked at Ben "real mean-like".

Sorry, I don't give credit to Pittsburgh for their last two rings unless you include the referees. By the way, do the refs ride on the float in front of or behind the Steelers in the Pittsburgh victory parade?

To Frequent Little Italy Restaurant Visitor...While the Steeler have indeed won 6 Super Bowls, let's not forget that it took that franchise 40 years to win its first one. Amazing how that always gets left out of the conversation. And yes, the Steelers won 4 Super Bowls in the 70's, but then had another drought which lasted 26 years before they won another one. Funny how Steeler fans always leave that part out. So let's see...6 Super Bowl wins in 76 years?
Heck, it only took the Ravens 5 years to win their first one. And the Baltimore Colts only needed 5 years to win their first one and won three over 13 years. So at least being a Baltimore Colt or Baltimore Raven fan didn't include getting really old waiting to win a championship. Just like to point that out once in a while.

Could this (or its esteemed creator) be ANY dumber?
Gee Gosh Golly...If I can't win cause the fans are so pumped up, I'm taking my ball and going home!
When people do pathetically stupid things (like this request by the Balto Ravens), it uses oxygen that the rest of us could use more wisely.
Hey, Ravens, I hear the girlscouts have flag football games...If you're MAN enough!

Cry me a river Baltimore....

Scared of the dark?

Maybe Obama will help you make the game more "fair" for teams like yours that can't seem to win

Funny thing is, I'm not even a Steelers fan, and I think this is a pansy move!

From the steeler's schedule last year:
Sunday, Dec. 14 @ Ravens * W 13-9 (11-3)

apparently the ravens can't beat the steelers last year regardless of the venue. i heard dan rooney sent a request to the NFL asking that the ravens replace their mouthguards with baby pacifiers.

Whatever the reason the Raven's made the request - who cares? I can see and understand both sides of the issue, but again, who cares?

As a die hard Raven fan and PSL holder since 96, I have to call for the Ravens to turn in their MAN CARD. This is not the peewee league run by soccer moms - this is NFL football. You don't whine about fairness in football. You strap it up, lace it up, shut up, & PUT UP! You NEVER let the enemy see your weakness, real or perceived.

IMO, the Ravens cannot reclaim their MAN CARD until they beat the Steelers . . . in Pittsburg . . . on Prime Time TV! Not even a Super Bowl win is enough to reclaim that stature.

Give me a Frigging break ? Unfriggingbelieveable!
Ravenswho?

Yes that about sums up this bullcrap !

If this gets approved then I hope The Steelers request all Ravens mouth-guards be replaced with pacifiers this season. It's football and both teams are smash-mouth teams. Play hard or go home, this is just absolutely absurd.

i would be pretty irritated at the steelers organization if they pulled something like this.

The Ravens can plays the Steeler in the day or night, you will still get you feathers plucked.. LOL

didn't the Steelers beat the Ravens in Baltimore this year? yeah, that's what i thought. When the Steelers won the Super Bowl in '05, they won 4 consecutive road playoff games. If you're good, it doesn't matter where you play.

"They lost last year because they had a rookie quarterback. End of story."~ mike barwick

No the main reason they lost was a Derrick Mason TD that was called an incompletion in Pittsburgh (after further review it was a TD and it was the rookie Head Coach that didn't throw the challange flag), and it was a reception that never crossed the goal line the refs ruled as a TD in Baltimore. If either of these things would have happened to the Steelers and cost them a win their fans would be so infuriated and would be beside themselves. Yes the Steelers did win the Super Bowl this year, but who did they beat? The Cardinals, a team that made it to it's first Super Bowl, and its first NFL championship game since they left Chicago.

Dear Mr. Raven,
My name is Billy. My mommy won't let me play with the big kids after dark, either. She says that they can come to our house, where she can keep an eye on us. If your daddy won't let you play outside at night, you could come to my house. We could watch cartoons and my mommy will make us cookies as long as we share them.

"i would be pretty irritated at the steelers organization if they pulled something like this."~alberto readstone

You would be even more upset at the NFL schedulers if the Steelers had played 7 straight MNF games in Baltimore since 2001 and not one in Pittsburgh.

By the way do any Steelers fans post on their own cities newspaper web site?

Wow...it's hilarious any of you could actually defend this. Haha your just a bunch of whining Ravens fans who got swept last year and use excuses because you didn't win...Even the Bungle fans haven't come up with something this lame!

Six-Burgh baby! Thanks for all your help in getting us our 6th championship.

Oh yeah, with Bart Scott Samari Rolle, Jim Leonhard, McAlister, Stover, and Corey Ivy gone, and Ray Lewis now aged and overrated, the Ravens won't beat Pittsburgh no matter where and when they play. Actually, I'll be impressed if Joe Flacco's passer rating surpasses 20 this year with our D.

It's interesting to hear all of the losers here still complaining about referees when (1) there clearly were a lot of calls that went the Cardinals way in the last Super Bowl and (2) even after the play clock runs out, Joe Flacco gets to count "1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi" before snapping the ball. Refereeing in the NFL was especially bad last year, but if it comforts you to pretend that the Ravens never take advantage of it or get lucky breaks because of it, go right ahead.

It's also interesting to hear people talking about the Steelers fans as if they are bad or don't show up for games. Sure. That's why the fan base is legendary. To paraphrase the Jets' Ray Lewis -- I mean, the Cowboys' Ray Lewis -- I mean, the Ravens' Ray Lewis, come see us in Pittsburgh before talking about things you do not understand. Half the time you whine about Steelers fans being everywhere and invading your stadium, and the other half we have lousy fans. Which is it?

Meanwhile, glad that "anonymous" above -- the one talking about Super Bowls through the first 76 years of the Steelers' existence -- didn't embarrass himself further by attaching his name to that idiotic post.

This is my first ever post but I am a clear thinking D.C. native that loves the Steelers.

I respect the physical way the Ravens play football but please save the conspiracy whine. Nearly everytime 'we' play the Patsies (which by the way, most Steeler fans hate far more than B'more), we have to play them IN New England. Until last year that was almost always a guaranteed "L". Typically they own us, and for now, we own you. The better team will be victorious, not seek excuses about the league, officials or venues.

This was a reasonable request by the Ravens. One, the O's schedule could potentially force them to be on the road for 3 out of the first 4 weeks of the season (as stated by a previos poster). And two, it's a lock that the game played in Baltimore will now be on primetime (either Sunday Night or Monday Night). This wasn't about "ducking" the Steelers to start the season. This was a shrewd business move made by a very smart owner and GM. I bet the Rooney family would have done the same if the roles were reversed....And enough of this crap about the Steelers being lucky, etc. They are the champs and I'm proud of how tough the Ravens played those 3 games last season. Yes we lost them all - but none of us in Baltimore expected us to compete with Pittsburgh when the 08 season began. Here's to hoping we break through in 09 and end this 3 game losing streak. And who knows, maybe the breaks fall our way and we're the champs next year?

OH, com'on Ravens. Please come up here and play with us. We promise will bring in the School for the blind to play yinz in the second half. Please don't be scared. I understand losing hurts, but sonner or later yinz'll get use to it. Ask CLEVELAND!

nah never mind high schoolers play at night and they cant pick and choose their schedule like eating out at mickeys d's and choosing food from the menu. what a bunch of cry babys

well we know the steelers will beat the cry ravens both times again being scare to face the 6 time super bowl champs i guess the raven fans can cry again this year after we beat them again. we know the browns and bengals will have fun whooping the ravens butt cause the ravens suck. LETS GO STEELERS

i guess those steeler fans forget who the first team to beat them at hienz field was actually the RAVENS. and dont forget the bogus pass interference call on darrell jackson for a touchdown when they beat seattle and can someone please explain how the final play of this years superbowl was not reviewed? not making excuses just facts, and when we get a deep threat receiver this off season and troy p cant rush the passer we will see who gets the last laugh he has the #11 of Larry Fitzgerald etched in his mind because thats all he saw that game. the super bowl is history so lets play on!

to mike barwick -

you are a liar.

Hey, if you guys had Ravens Greats you would introduce them before the games too. Don't be jealous because we have history.

Also, I would never call any team that just won a championship any names. I also wouldn't call any champs "Squealers" on a web forum that's talking about your team complaining about the time of day a game is played.

AMATUERS!

Steve: That play was in fact reviewed by the officials in the booth, They did not call down to the referee on the field because after looking at the play, it was clearly a fumble. If you remember (but judging by your intellect, you don't) there was a penalty on the play on Farrior for taking off his helmet, giving the booth people time to look at it. This info. came from the league's head of officiating in an interview after the game. And by the way, I don't remember the Steelers making any special "requests" last year when their ridiculously tough schedule came out . . .pansies.

to bk glad u r not a steeler fan u dont even know where the cardinals played be fore moving to arizona can u say the used to be st louis cardinals ? sorry they were not from chicago see ya next yr hopefully on a sunday night in blitzburgh so all the world can see again u get whooped but we promise all u ravin fans a flashlight at the gate so the steelers wont scare u

Next the Ravens are going to ask to pick the Officials and final score... Losers...

No Offense Mike.., but the steelers bringing out the dead means nothing. Didn't jerry jones do that in dallas for that last game in Tx stadium and that didn't work out so well. The ravens played and lost..., that's just how it goes.

Cowards!! Maybe the next Ravens request will be to change divisions or conferences to get away from the Steelers. P.S. What's up(or down) with Constellation Energy's stock??

I bet these Steeler fans that are commenting on this post are the same ones that sit on their hands when the Steelers are losing and ONLY cheer when things are going well for the Steelers I can't say that I really blame the Ravens for NOT wanting to play the Steelers in Pittsburgh in Prime time. The last time the Steelers played the Ravens in Baltimore in Prime time was the season that Jamal Lewis ran for 2000 yards. I don't think that the Ravens mind playin the Steelers anywhere and I bet if they rotated that Prime time came the Ravens and Steelers would welcome it.

If Billick were still here you would say we were ducking the Steelers, but now that we have your coach on board you say it is a smart move. Maybe if we figured out how to beat the Steelers half the time like we did in the old days we wouldn't have to run from them with our tails between our legs. Yea, that camp hard ball really has toughened those guys up. Next we will ask the league if we could play the Steelers without Hines Ward because he hits us too hard.

No true Steeler fan worries about how their team will do against the Ravens REGARDLESS of where and when the game is played. If we want to play the next five games in Baltimore, that's fine with us. We travel extremely well anyway.

This was an excellent/intelligent move. There will be an adjustment period for Greg Mattison and his defense. Lets work out at all of the kinks before playing Pittsburgh. With the new speedy DBs, we will no longer have to worry about Holmes blowing past anyone. Reed will be able to hawk again. It's only a matter of time until we have our revenge!
In Ozzie and Flacco I trust....

*One other note: Each team's injury report will definitely be much shorter earlier on. Last year it was Mendenhall and Ward. This year I place the bounty on Holmes and Big Ben. It's time to hunt Lewis and crew!
In Ozzie & Flacco I trust......

Man, does a "request" like this make us look wimpy. Are we really afraid of the Steelers and their fans? Give me a freakin' break! Grow up and just play football.

OMG...that is so sad that a team would be afraid of the fans. Just face it...the Ravens obviously don't have the talent that the Steelers have. I guess you all were tattle tellers and cry babies when you were in grade school also. We love our Steelers and nothing will stop the STEELER NATION.

It must be truly embarrassing to have to root for a team that won't play the big old bullies aka SUPER BOWL CHAMPS when they'll be all fired up. (as always) Win the Super Bowl and you'll get to host the season opener at your place! Until then.... buck up little boys!

This is absolutely hilarious! This is the weakest move I've ever seen. Thank you so much for giving us Steeler fans a reason to make more fun of you and admitting, through crybaby fear, that we have both superior fans and superior team.

Ravens fans--just close your eyes and listen to the MNF announcers telling you how great Flacco is, and it will all go away. Like your chances at a ring for the next decade. Perhaps you can hype your way to another TV show. 6 Rings!

So much for the swagger that Billick instilled. Now we have the same vanilla wafer personality we had during the Marchaibroda era. Didn't he like tough training camps too? Baltimore, you got what you asked for and now we can go back to mediocre football as well. Wait until Harbaugh's defensive coordinator figures out that college speeches won't work in the pros. Do you think the league will let us play all of our games at home? How do we argue with these moron Steeler fans when our owner is afraid of a division rival? Maybe we could just open up a lollipop stand and not bother playing anybody on Sundays, we could continue our tough training camps in which we allow third and fourth stringers to beat each other up and then we look tough but none of our starters ever gets hit. After all we don't want Ray Lewis to miss his tee time with Bisciotti.

I don't really remember the Steeler Super Bowls of the 70's, as that was 30 years ago, but I do remember the last 2 Super Bowl "wins". Seems to me the refs just awarded them both games. I'll never have any respect for the Steelers until they actually earn a title.

The Stillers would love come to the nest for a primetime game.

Our Stillers gonna come in the nest, pluck the feathers rite off of mama raven, & cook her eggs alive.

Hey Mike - What's up with you? Are you getting soft? - enabling the Ravens. Ducking your arch rival and you say it's smart! Johnny is sending a message to his team. He's selling them short saying, "We can't beat the Steelers"! Man up! What happened to the play anywhere, anytime statement? John just displayed to the football world he pi- - ed himself.
Maybe, the Ravens can get out of the division or leave the AFC. What a defeatist attitude. And, the Ravens will say they are persuing a championship. In football? This is an embarrassment to the greatness of this glorious game!

we earned those 2 super bowl titles for one reason--it had nothing to do with the refs or the crowd. Simply put it the Steelers were the better team.

Whos the better team?

Pittsburgh Steelers--
6 super bowl wins in 76 years in the NFL.

Balitomore Ravens/Cleveland Browns--1 super bowl win in 58 years in the NFL. (Dont forget, your Ravens franchise officially includes the Cleveland Browns years.)

It was exactly 7:13 PM (that's at night for you raven fans) when BIG BEN came down on the Ravens in M&T and threw his 4 yard dagger to Tone. Pittsburgh beats you any time of day in any stadium you want. Keep focusing on your game day starting time. meanwhile your secondary is in shambles with the loss of rolle, mcal. and leonard.

Could you ever imagine the likes of Jack Lambert, Chuck Noll, the Rooneys, or Mike Tomlin ever, ever complaining about the site or timing of a football game???? That's the difference between winning 6 SB's and 1 SB.

It's nice to know you have someone like Mike Preston to make comments like these that make the Ravens look weak..."the [Steelers] organization really knows how to get the crowd going"...yeah that wouldn't have anything to do with a 76 year old Steelers fan base with season ticket holders that have been going to games for generations now would it? What else can can you think to blame for these nationally televised Ravens losses...Prismanti Brothers sandwiches?

OMG....what are Ravens fans scared to do...walk down the street in Pittsburgh? C'mon, you're from BALTIMORE...that's a scarier city than Pittsburgh. Stop whining and just play some football!!!t

first off the ravens fans are not afraid of the stealing stealers...I can't wait for ravens to play them again...morning, noon or night...it really makes no difference to the fans here in Baltimore....I love to hate the stealers...

I highly doubt that coach tomlin would make the same decision.
i suspect that the message that this decision sends to it's players is not one that most championship calibre organizations would want to advocate.

I love the cries of favortism that comes from teams that have been outplayed year after year. Sure, the NFL is probably conspiring to have the same teams win over and over. That would be great for their fan base. Any somewhat intelligent fan would realize it would only hurt the NFL to have a select few teams win over and over. Wasn't that one of the big reasons for the salary cap, to help level the playing field? Keep making excuses and the Steelers will keep playing football.
