« Scott, Lewis vying for deal? | Main | Road trip for Ravens' Scott, Brown? »

Scott, Brown could be on the move soon

Unless a deal is made in the 11th hour, it looks like Ravens linebacker Bart Scott will be visiting the Jets in New York soon, and center Jason Brown will be driving down the street to the Washington Redskins.

Scott could be joining former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan in New York. A person close to Scott was still hoping that the Ravens and Scott could reach a deal.

Once again, Ozzie's refusal to consider negotiating any kind of long-term deal for a (non-1st round) player after his 3rd season comes back to bite him. Jason Brown is just the latest in a string of players who should have been locked up after their 3rd seasons instead of giving them the one-year Restricted Free Agent tender and then seeing them walk the following year.

Adios Jason Brown. A player wanting to be paid for a position he wasn't going to play. I think his comments ended any negotiations, good riddance, let DC or Miami overpay for him. Like we really miss Tony Pashos, or Edwin Mulitalo...please. We have plenty of depth in our interior line, plus Matt Birk and Jeff Saturday are out there.

I'll miss Jim Leonhard, though. A tough football player, a Wes Welker on defense and special teams. He had the little green dot on his helmet...now I think he'll wear an all green helmet (jets).

Unacceptable! I am very dissapointed they have yet to retain any of their free agents. I feel they are to concerned with Ray and other players aren't happy with that. Let Ray go and concentrate on the future. Jason Brown was a stud lineman and a leader. We have no veterans on the OL and need a leader. Just like Manning has J. Saturday, Flacco needs a offensive line and if he doesn't get a line he will turn into a Boller.

Why are we letting Brown and Scott go to sign an aging Ray Lewis? Face of the franchise.....BULL! Let him go and sign the others. Lewis can be the face of somebody else's franchise! We need youth, not a 33 yr old has been.

If the Ravens loose Scott, Lewis, Brown AND Lenard, somebody in the organization needs to get fired.

Leonard is a nice story and a great character guy but he isnt a hard hitter and striking fear in other offenses then pounding them into submission is what makes our defense great year after year. its not just talent that seperates our defense from others. Its toughness and Ray and Ed calling plays and communicating to the whole team. Leonard doesnt fit our mold and he isnt better than Zbo, last years third round pick. Anyways its OBVIOUS he is going to follow Rex to the Jets who really want hom to xompliment Rhodes, which he does quite nicely. Its a good fit. Back to our two field generals: Thats Rays real value these days. On field general. And since he added weight last year he became an enforcer again. Yet i dont think hes worth the money. We have too many talented young lbs already and ozzie picks backers like hes psychic. Let him walk. Especially after not refuting Wares comments. Being willing to go to Dallas and rubbing our faces in him actually Wanting to go are different things. To not come out and say im looking for the best deal but i always want to be a Raven IS turning his back on this citys love for him. Whatever, peace out Ray. And some guy posted in the previous entry that we should make J Brown the highest paid gaurd in the league. Ehhhhh...I dont know about that. He is good but we are going to need to sign Grubbs in a few years and that guy might be one of the all time greats. His game is almost flawless already (according to Cam) and hes only in year two. The guy grades out among the very top young lineman in the league on several football guides and the media and our coaches rave about how good he can be. Browns looked good playing next to him the past 2 years and they certainly compliment each other but Grubbs is by far the superior player and will require big money to keep. Brown should be offered a contract between guard and center. And if gaither keeps developing he is going to get big money. not to mention yanda. Brown is not the bedrock of this line just the most experienced and certainly a pretty good lineman but not worth top dollar.

Bye Jason Brown, we will get somebody who wants to be a Raven. YOU ARE A CENTER, in college and in Harbaugh's regime. You should not have to be told that at your age.
Ravens' fans, welcome a new center, someone who will be more than happy to snap the ball to Joe Flacco.

Thank you ray for our history but it is time for the future. Ray will look bach and try to say b more is his town but I no longer believe that

Thanks a lot for Rex.. Jimmy.. and if ur FO is stupid enough to let scott go to sign an over the hill Linebacker thanks for Bart

come on guys, it's free agency, we survived some big loss each year and we 've gone through pretty well:
pashos, demps, hartwell, jamal lewis, and retired sharpe, ogden,mc nair mc crary boulware...regarding brown, i love this guy, remember the same discussion when we didnt sign casey rabach...i'm confortable with the line, chester did a decent job filling in for yanda, if he can bulk up 5to10 pounds he could regain his natural center position, no doubt about it...
we've got plenty of linebackers too, don't worry for lewis or scott, mc clain, barnes are going to step up, no doubt about it, and we've got some cap room for free agency too...
it's gonna be fine!

Great, knee-jerk reactions from Bradley and Tom: "Unacceptable!"..."somebody in the organization needs to get fired."

Uh, can we wait to see what the Ravens' front office does in the coming weeks before we fire people?

Everyone on here bashing the Ravens front office needs to realize that it takes 2 to make a contract. People saying that they need to sign this guy or that guy need to realize that the Ravens have gone to these players with salaries in mind (in looking towards the future salary cap). We can't make the players sign a contract for an amount that will put the organization in a good shape going forward. Obviously, these players wanted to "Break the Bank" with this year's contract. Can't blame them and can't blame the Ravens.

" we have plenty of depth on our interior line "

Really ? Where ? Don't say Chris Chester, he's too small, Hampton, and Rodgers will eat him up, and I don't think Yanda has ever played center.

Why did we just pay nearly 7 million for foxworth and destroy most of our cap space?
