Foxworth visiting Ravens

NFL Network reported this morning that free-agent cornerback Domonique Foxworth, a former third-round draft pick of the Broncos, is visiting the Ravens' complex today and could be a solution at cornerback.

Foxworth, 25, was born in Oxford, England, grew up in Catonsville and played at Western Tech High School and then Maryland. With the release of Chris McAlister, the Ravens have made cornerback one of their priorities this offseason.

I don't know why the Ravens would consider another 180 lb corner. Fabian Washington can't tackle and said all he was signed to do was cover. Foxworth is another under weight corner that could never tackle in run support.

Being a die-hard Terps fan and season ticket holder I would like to see Foxworth in purple. I watched him play and he has improved a lot since being drafted. I'm sure the Ravens are looking at him for his speed and ability to change directions. I don't see him as a permenant starter with complete coverage skills but he would be a nice addition to the Ravens if the price is right. I think with our defensive mentality, his youth, and his work ethic I believe it would be a nice pick-up. Not to mention he's a TERP!!! GO TERPS!!!

Adam Schefter is reporting that Ray has no interest in coming back to Baltimore (according to a unknown source close to Ray. If this is true, how could Ozzie let all of these guys slip away?

Played against Foxworth in high school. He was the fastest guy on the field.

sweet... add foxworth and heyward-bey and gronkowski and get the UMD train rolling!

Think the 49ers will cut Vernon Davis?

Just whatever happens to the ravens kicking game, just say no to their kicker from last season. I wouldn't let him kick for a HS team

Bart Scott signed a multi-year deal with the Jets at $8 mil/yr. Heard the Ravens had offered $7 mil.

So Brown's been told "so long," Bart Scott says "see ya", and Ray Ray is squeezing someone's grapes.

Oh well, bring on Prescott Burgess and Tavaris Gooden. Ozzie must think they're getting good enough to replace Scott and/or Lewis.

Right now I just have to trust Ozzie to make the right offers to our Free Agents. I would hate to see Ray, Scott and Brown leave, but we cant overpay for guys like the Skins do. Then we will be 8-8 every year. It would hurt if Ray left, but we have to pay him what he's worth. I think we have the young linebackers to step up if necessray.

I say get foxworth because ivy is suspect.a good blitzer though but poor in coverage.keep samari 4 leadership.forget ray, scott, and brown all can be replaced by hungrier guys thats not all about money.those guys will never get a ring no where else let be greedy and rot.jameel mcclain and gooden will show up.we need n.washington or devery henderson as a deep threat.we should grab ward and trade mcgahee@a4th rounder for a descent linebacker ..we should be well off.and young.

Burgess won't be with the Ravens in 2009.

As for Ray, I don't see a market for him. I think he'll eventually re-sign.

Foxworth? Not my ideal choice, but I guess the physical CB they need could come in the draft.

Maybe this Foxworth guy is someone the Ravens can plug in until the CB they draft in the 1st or 2nd round is up to speed. Having someone back there with 4 years starting experience makes me feel better than a rookie. Plus isn't Fabian Washington a free agent after the '09 season? A move like this makes sense to me.

I thought the Ravens were close to signing Bart Scott. What happened? I'm not happy he's in NY about to sign with the Jets but it is what it is. I wish him the best except against the Ravens.

Now that Bart has made his move it seems Ray has some leverage here. I hope the Ravens DO NOT budge and give Ray what he's looking for. At his age, what RL wants would not be worth it, IMO.

I believe Ozzie Newsome has a plan. It's just not laid out for us fans to see. We just have to wait and see what happens.

totally agree,
sad we're going to loose such characters like lewis or scott, sad we loose a young and promising linemen like brown, but it's a good thing for our cap room and for the future of the team: we are going to be younger, cheaper, no big egos, just kids playing football with their big heart ! foxworth is a nice idea to boost our secondary: no more deep pass breakdown with him: this guy his so fast!
i trust ozzie, i like what he has done last year bringing guys like washington or leohnard, he's going to find good players for our team!

ray is just pouting. all of this is just a typical stunt in the effort to gain more leverage. smart money says ray is back in purple and black next year. goooooooooravens

i think they should be worried about getting lewis back instead of him.we can replace lewis's leadership on the defense.and plus there are better conners in the draft this year.

I'm not opposed to the Dominique Foxworth signing, they needed more depth with Ivy leaving and he'd be far superior to him. However, the contract he signed was a lot of money and it looks like they intend for him to be the starter. I haven't watched a lot of Foxworth in the NFL but the knock on him is that he's not a physical corner, which is what the Ravens need. They have guys who can cover in Washington and Rolle but they're not physical either so I see this as a bit questionable, all this does is maybe push CB to the 2nd Round and make WR their top draft priority.

i knew about this deal thursday nite. while i was at my doctor office i heard the secretary say that they had a dominique foxworth coming in for a physical later and he was going to sign as a raven on friday
