Ravens tickets to Steelers fans? No problem
I listened last week to Ravens players telling area fans not to sell their tickets to Steelers fans, and that if they did it was a lack of respect, and that those who did weren't true fans.
Sometimes, players live in their own little worlds. Inside the Ravens' locker room, those players make a very good living, from the top receiver down to the place-kicker on the practice squad.
Outside the locker room, and in the real world where we live, a lot of people are getting laid off or taking pay cuts. A lot of companies are filing for bankruptcy. So if a fan sold his tickets and made a few bucks for Christmas this year, or made some extra money to pay a few bills, good for him or her.
I have no problem with that, and it certainly does not make anybody any less loyal.

Mike:
There are 7 other games that could be sold. This is THE GAME. It is an embarassment to the City and to the real fans of the team to sell the tix to Pittsburgh fans. I'd sooner sell my left arm than let some hillbilly defile my seat.
You have every right to do it, but it does indicate that you are less than loyal to the team and to the other fans who have to put up with these knuckle-dragging, mouth breathing, hicks from "Pennsyltucky"..., Glen Burnie or Catonsville (or wherever they jumped on the Pittsburgh bandwagon).
You are a columnist, not a fan, therefore, you just don't get it. The press box is not the real world. You are not surrounded by Billy Ray Cyrus' mulleted cousins, waving a stained yellow rag.
BTW - Prepare to have a s***storm rain down on you at the Jacksonville game if you sold your tix to the Pittsburgh game - traitors.

How about selling them to a Ravens fan?
Posted by: Jason | December 15, 2008 3:25 PM
Good point Mike, because I am that person. Actually, I sell my Steeler tickets every year for two reasons:
1. It pays for Christmas gifts for my 2 kids, and
2. Safety. Every time I have been to the Steelers games, there are fights in the stands, fights in the bathrooms, and fights in the parking lots. Until they start throwing Steeler fans out like they throw Raven fans out, I'm not taking my life into my hands for a football game, no matter how good the game may be.

I dont think it was a problem this season. My boss is a Steeler fan and he told me even he was impressed with how few Steeler fans were at the game. So if a few fans sold them, I dont have a problem either.

Too bad there aren't enough Raven's fans to fill the stadium. Must be Pittsburgh's fault.

To TRA:
Amen. Preston just doesn't get it; but then again, he never does.
To Ben: What a moron you are. Did it ever occur to you that if YOU didn't sell your tickets to Steelers fans, there wouldn't be any Steeler fans in the stadium to fight with. You may be the all-time stupidest person ever to post here.

Anyone who sells their tickets to Steelers fans, should have their season tickets, and PSL's taken away. Don't give me that BS about needing money either, there are plenty of Ravens fans you could sell them to. Maybe if there weren't do many squeelers fans in the stands, there wouldn't be so many fights. HAVE SOME CIVIC PRIDE FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!

Ben,
1. If you sell to a Raven fan good for you.
2. If you sell to a Steeler fan you are a cockroach.
I'm sure you throw away enough money thoughout the year on nonsense to buy your 2 kids gifts. Lame excuse to use your kids as justification.

I watched the game on tv. When the ref called a Steeler touchdown after watching the replay the cheer from the crowd was so loud I asked my friend if he was sure the game was at the Ravens. It sounded like the whole statium was cheering. Does anyone know how many steeler fan were there? It sounded like 15 or 20 thousand at least.

Actually, easywriter, your point is not completely valid.
I observed a fight from my seat that was between 4 Ravens fans. No Steelers fans involved at all. Truly, the only thing that would lead to fewer fights would be less alcohol consumption on the part of the idiots that instigate the fights (both Ravens and Steelers fans). I would say for the most part fans of both teams in the section where I sat were very respectful which was a nice change from when I went to the game last year when 2 drunk idiots behind us began screaming at us for no reason at the end of the game to the point that my friend and I were actually worried for our safety (in case you don't remember, the Ravens won that game). If you stick to the "Don't be a jerk" spiel that they give at the beginning of the game then there really wouldn't be any problems regardless of who you are a fan of. Most of the people I interacted with at the game yesterday were very nice. And what do you say to Ravens fans that GIFT their tickets to Steelers fans, because that is how I got my tickets! I'm sure I'm not the only one.

As a Steelers fan I would like to thank those who are willing to sell their extra tickets. I've been to the game in Baltimore all but 3 years since the Ravens came around. It was great to see the pain the Steelers caused in person.

the ravens should take a note from Bob Kraft and disallow ticket sales on stub hub, but just for the steelers game. kraft pushed to revoke season tickets to those who sold on stubhub... that guy si nuts, isnt he making enough on $2 razors?

You know what's really great - I was watching on TV; when Coleman announced it was a TD, the cheers were so loud I thought he must've announced it was 4th down. Turns out there were so many Steeler fans that they were actually louder than the Ravens fans.
Forget a few cash-starved Ravens fans selling tickets for Xmas cash. You had a wholesale sellout of your team. Don't feel bad, happens everywhere.
On the pathetic side of things, when your team's players have to come out and beg the fans not to sell their tickets, what's that tell you about your team, your fans and your city? WEAK.

Jason,
Your a disgrace to all "true" Ravens fans. Don't give us this stuff about gifts for the kids. There are 7 OTHER games and this is THE game every year! Turn your man card in because it's not that rough at the games.

I'm a life long Steelers fan but I sympathize with you over the selling of tickets to opposing fans. But the truth be told, the opposing team is willing to apy a lot more for those tix. In 2005 I had 2 Jets fans offer me $600\ per ticket for the playoff game b\c they alrady put the time, money and energy into travelling to Pgh. I didn't sell but I understand the logic.

to screenplay, the reason the steelers cheers seemed so loud is because all of us ravens fans were stunned to the point of silence.
i anticipated many more steelers fans at the game than there were. granted, there were plenty. but for fans that travels as much as the steelers do, i was pleasantly surprised.

A little perspective.
My wife and I have been 'Real Ravens Fans' since day ONE. We've had FOUR psl and 4 season tickets from day in memorial stadium to today. We attended all of the playoff road games super bowl year, as well as the superbowl.
I estimate we've 'invested' probably about $1000,000 over the past 12 years supporting the ravens, as in helping pay the players salaries.
I believe ravens fans and the players should be happy that the stadium is usually close to full for all home games, regardless of who is in the seat next to them. I bet our owner would agree.

Mike, I almost always disagree with you on things, but not this one. I only wish I had tickets to sell. As much as I love football, its just a game. Sometimes life gets in the way.

Hilarious. I am a Pittsburgher here in Baltimore. I not only buy tickets from you faux-fans, I have my own Ravens PSL's as well. If you guys spoke with your attendance as much as you do with your mouths, this wouldn't be an issue. It's like we own TWO stadiums.
