I have to be honest, i was so enamored by the great season we were having that I wasn't even thinking about the payback Hines Ward had coming to him. Baltimore- Don't listen to the hype. One oof the things that has impressed me most about this team is cool they have become, even in the face of adversity. When the league expects the Ravens to lose it, they have stayed within the framework of the offense and defense. That alone has resulted in less penalty yardage and more points on the board. Don't get caught up with Mike Preston, he's just try to start an already hype'd up feud. He must be from Pittsburg or has run out of positive things to write about the Ravens. As with the players, Hines Ward is in the Ravens fans heads as well. Tough game this week and probably the most physical game this year in the NFL. 20-17 the score with the team with the least amount of turnovers the victor.

In this day and age, where players jump around like their feet (and other sundry body parts) are on fire after making a routine tackle, I would be singularly amazed if anyone on either team's D unit made a hit as you describe and then simply waltz back to the huddle for the next play. A pleasant thought, but alas, yours a romantic notion reaching back to an era of football long since gone.

Hines Ward is into the Ravens heads, no doubt about that, even if nothing is said this week. This game will be won or lost on breaks and stupid penalties. I am a die-hard Steeler fan. This game should be one of the best of the NFL season. Two hard hitting teams, with the two best defenses in football.

I could see this one going either way... with the team who makes the least amount of mistakes (i.e. turnovers) winning the game.

It is too bad the AFC North is saddled with the Bungles and Clowns or this division would be considered the best in the NFL by far.

Prediction: Big crybaby ben and smiley face ward will both be knoked out for the rest of the season (2 games).

What has the Raven's organization or their fans ever done to warrant any type of admiration or serious respect? 5 winning seasons, 4 playoffs, 1 Super Bowl, 3 three different head coach's, off field problems and no significant fan following across the country in 13 years shows you are at best an average organization with an average fan base .........The Ravens do typically play the Steelers tuff and will occasionally have a good season. I give them credit for this. Bottom line is they will never gain the respect and admiration the Steelers have from other organizations and fans around the country. When the Ravens can put together more consistent winning, keep a coach longer than a few years, and put 35,000 fans in an opposing teams stadium, then the respect and admiration you desire will come. why be less, when you can B-MORE?

I am a lifelong Raven's fan and have watched Ward lay out many of our DBs on late, blind-sided hits for years. I have always maintained, until recently, that Ward is a tough player and we would love to have a physical WR like him on the Ravens.

But I did some research on Ward's blocks after he put K. Rivers out for the season. You can look all over the internet and not find many "man-up" blocks where he takes on a linebacker or DB chest to chest to create space for a ball-carrier downfield. You can, however, see many hits where he waits for a DB to be screened by another player and/or slow down to a trot after the play has been determined and then clocks them leading with his shoulder (and often helmet) to the unsuspecting players chest. Yes, this is legal, but it sure is cowardly. When you are taking these kind of hits just for the sake of taking them you are messing with people's livelihoods and lives.

I would think that Ward would have enough respect for his Raven's rivals which he has known for years to not try to intentionally hurt someone after a play has been determined.

And if you are going to take these "give me" shots, then be man enough to give a straight-up block when your ball-carrier is still fighting for yards. He might do it sometimes, but not often.

I am 33 years old, 6' 2" and 200 lbs. and never played a down of competitive football and am positive that I could knock down a linebacker or DB when they are not looking. That does not make you tough. It is just a matter of physics. I do know that I could not move a linebacker on a man to man block when he has me in his sights. Maybe Hines feels the same way.

In short, the more years that I watch Hines play the less respect I have for him. I wonder if there are Steeler's fans out there who are starting to become embarrassed by Ward's blind side hits. I know I would not be proud if that was what Mase was most known for. Hines is a great possession receiver. He has made many huge first downs against the Ravens. He is also a tough guy. But the blindside blocks are getting old. This does not show you as a man. It reveals you as a coward.

As for how we handle him on Sunday, I would just like to see him and Holmes held in check (under 150 yards in total). If we do that and win the turnover battle, this game could be a beating.

I don't know about anybody else, but I am looking forward to this smashmouth game between the games best defense. The Ravens and Steelers are equal across the board in terms of defense and special teams, the thing that is going to be the difference is the fact that the Steelers offense has been less than perfect and the Ravens offense has been more consistent. In the Redskins game, there no need to go crazy with the plays, because we were up by 14 already so all we had to do is manage clock and maintain control. But on another note.

1. I hate the Steelers but respect ward as a great reciever, but to call him tough is overdoing it. ALL of his hits are blindsided because as a WR he gets to just pick people off (we would do the same thing so its no point in complaining). Call him tough because he does not mind blocking and doing the dirty work, thats why I call him tough.

2. The Ravens did not steal the steelers defense (last time I checked casey hampton does not drop back in pass coverage) we run 4-3, 3-4, and a 46 steeler i think stick wit a 3-4 and cover 2.

3. The point as which we as fans lower ourselves to insulting the socio-economic status of people in the city is just stupid. Last time i checked both cities are formal steel mill cities that both have their bright spots and low spots so quit with that mindless garbage.

4. Steelers fans are not going to outnumbered Ravens fans, that happened a while ago and people are still riding that. And if they do, I will be all the more better because there will be more sad steeler fans taking a long drive home.

It was a media dog who first mentioned the word Bounty in an interview and T-Sizzle did nothing but repeat what he said in a questioning manner. Next thing you know, the entire Ravens team has a bounty out on Hiney Butt-crack. When are you people going to stop listen to the media and start thinking for yourselves. Oh, never mind. ( Which Clearly Indicates Cheating ), Poetic Justice Is due to the Ravens for a Guaranteed Win this Sunday at Home in Baltimore ....... And Poetic Justice somehow has It's way of Prevailing over Cheaters.

Everyone that is calling Ward a cheapshot artists seems to forget when he knocked Reed out last year. They were eyeball to eyeball it's Reed's fault he didn't make himself ready for the hit. This is football people not field hockey.

The Raven defenders are typical bullies. They love to get clean, unsuspecting shots on offensive players and celebrate them with glee, which is fine with me. Football is about hard hits. The hypocrisy comes, however, when they squeal like little girls when Ward does the same to them.

Typical bully mentality. They don't like getting punched in the mouth. The threats they make to Ward off the field between games is a glaring omission of just how scared of him they are.

Big Ducky, good post. I do want to point out that big ol nose tackle Casey Hampton does drop back in pass coverage. It was funny to see him do it against Dallas last week when he had to rumble sideline to sideline to tackle Tashard Choice. In addition to the 3-4 and cover 2 that you mentioned, Dick Lebeau runs some plays with 4 down linemen. Heck at times last year they even ran plays with 2 linemen and even 1 lineman. I respect Rex Ryan's D, and I think any 3-4 grew out of Lebeau's system. "Copied" means Rex isn't capable of developing schemes himself, which I believe to be false.

The Steeler's D is hot right now, playing better than in the previous meeting, mostly because of the emergence of the Steelers secondary. Ike Taylor, William Gay, and Bryant McFadden have stepped up their games, while the sack-tendem of Harrison and Woodley are the most prolific in Steeler's history (better than the Blitzburgh combo of Lloyd-Greene in 1995).

What I really love is Pitts Drama Queen QB. Talk about a classless act the Steelers/Whiners are the dirtiest team in football and after every play - Sissy boy little tiny Ben runs to the refs complaining about something. I watched little sissy Ben last week against the cowboys and all he did was whine.

What is annoying it works somewhere near the 4th quarter they start calling bogus penalties on the other team just like they did to Dallas last week.

Any Steelers fans that are coming to this game better come in an armored car or a tank. You may not get out alive. All of the trash talking that you guys do and your team plays like a bunch of wimps. Your pass first, finess offense is really intimidating. You better back up your trash talk with some good dodging skills. You won't get through my parking lot alive, I'll tell you that!

Ravens fans like to brag about Scott's hit on Rothlisberger. Scott was unblocked, any sophomore in high school could have made that play. Not something to brag about. Took no skill.

It was said before, all the talk from Ravens' fans is just jealousy. They wish they had a real receiver on their team like Ward. Who could possibly call him classless? Not considering all he does off the field for the community, he plays football the way it was meant to be played. Anyone that calls him a "cheap shot artist" is ignorant when it comes to football. When some over-paid nobody gets lazy on the field (while the play is still ongoing) and gets lit up by a legal hit, they got what they were asking for. Oh, wasn't Ray Lewis on trial for murder?

The New Browns have always been second rate to the Steelers (aside from their one impressive Super Bowl year) and their fans can't handle it. I'd be a bitter Ravens fan hoping for a win too....

Here's my fantasy scenario:
Ravens with a lead; Pitt deep in their own territory and Ward received a huge hit (clean or not) from whomever and leaves the game; Ravens win and the fans wipe their own butts with the terrible towel.

Those of you talking about how the Steelers get all the favorable calls from the refs must have missed their game against the Chargers where PIT was flagged 13 times to SD's 1. And the one SD penalty prevents a PIT TD. Hmmm.

Also, I don't really see any Steelers fans talking trash, except for a few outliers. It seems to be a thing the Ravens fans on here are good at though.

How could you possible say that Bart Scott's hit took no skill cause he was unblocked when Hines Ward is never blocked because he is on offense. A high school sophmore could hit an unsuspecting d-back, too. Ward is cheap, he waits till defenders aren't looking. Look at the youtube video of when he hit Ed Reed...Ward jumps right off of the guy that he is cleanly blocking as soon as he sees his chance to hit Reed.

Face it Steelers fans--Ward is the cheapest player in the game and even though you don't want to admit it, you all secretly love it. I bet every single one of you was thrilled when you found out that Ward broke Kieth Rivers' jaw. You are all worthless.
