« Trying to travel to Ravens playoff game? Let us know | Main | Harbaugh optimistic about Washington, Rice and Barnes »

Did the Ravens lift your spirits this year?

It had been a pretty bad year for Maryland sports.

The Maryland men's basketball team didn't make the NCAA tournament, the women's team didn't make the Final Four, the Orioles finished with yet another losing season and then lost out on the Mark Teixeira sweepstakes. The lone bright spot was Michael Phelps' eight gold medal performance in the Olympics.

When John Harbaugh took over the Ravens in January everyone looked forward to the promise of the new season, but the expectations weren't high with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback. But the Ravens exceeded most people's expectations by making the playoffs Sunday and by making them with a statement game.

If the Ravens' success has helped lift your spirits in an otherwise down year (oh, and did we mention the economy?), we'd like to talk to you for a story. Please e-mail Baltimore Sun reporter Mike Klingaman at mike.klingaman@baltsun.com and include your contact information.

yes, of course they lifted my spirits. they always do. looking forward to a sunday to watch our team always lifts my spirits.

Anytime you play the game the way it is meant to be played, it's a very good year. What the Ravens have accomplished this year is A to Z. Top-notch from top to bottom. We've been treated to ole Baltimore Colts style quality, integrity-laced football. Make no mistake about it. We are a force in the playoffs. Ask the Steelers. They don't want to see us again. It's a blast. I know -- hold on, we've got the very good Miami team first. I feel like I am on a bull, holding on the best I can, Go Ravens!

Lift my spirits? Hell, yes. We only lost to the best teams in the game (Steelers, Giants, Titans and the Kolts), and we had three of those games won. Don't think any of those teams want to play us again. Yeah, my spirits are high. This team has lifted all of Baltimore and the Ravens fans everywhere.

I think everyone feels better when they have something to look forward to seeing or doing.

The way the Orioles tanked as the season wore on I looked at the Ravens season and HOPED they'd be interesting...so yes, they really have lifted my spirits.

This is the type of journalism The Sun supports? This posting represents everything wrong with journalism at this paper. Aren't you the journalists supposed to be actively seeking and investigating these stories instead of placing an ad that seeks someone telling their story to you? rediculous

Lift my spirits? Being a die hard Ravens fan living in the heart of that nasty disgusting cleaning rag they call "Terrible Towel" please let me tell you the resilient Ravens lifted my spirits. What can top this now is if and WHEN the team can take it step by step and maul Miami, topple Tennessee and then pummel Pittsburgh en route to a title in Tampa!

PS: NFL Network analyst Terrell Davis predicted an all Pennsylvania Super Bowl and Jim Mora predicted an all Manning game. Well to continue along their line of thinking I'll predict an all rookie championship and give the world the Ravens vs Atlanta!!

Believe in Baltimore baby!!!

JAS,

One of the purposes for this blog is reader feedback. If you don't like it, don't read the blog.

Keep up the good work Pete !

Hey Scrooge its a blog not a newspaper article, he can post whatever he wants. And at the end of such a bad year around the world its fitting to highlight a rare bright spot. Go take your ignorant passion to a GED class and learn how to spell "ridiculous".

Nothing like a winning team to boost the mood of the populace!

So where are the purple lights downtown???

Lighten up JAS, it's a freakin' blog! They have those now as you apparently know, having surfed to it and even posted. What would be better? A "well-researched" man on the street or fan in the bar interview. The view from City Hall via Mayor Dixon?? Talk about " rediculous" [sic] journalism! OBTW - how did you like the Ravens' reg. season - or are you saving your quotes for the Wall St. Journal?

I definitely have had my spirits raised by the Ravens this year. My favorite moment was when Andrea Kremer asked Ed Reed, "What makes you such a ball hawk?" He replied, "The other ten guys on defense." You don't hear that kind of trust-building talk coming out of Dallas, do you?

It sure brightened my year after moving 500 miles away and missing home. Ravens till death!

PS - after our first win I commented "playoffs or bust" and was basically told I was silly with too high of expectations... TOLD YA SO!!
