Heap got Harbaugh's message, now he gets the ball
It's apparent that Ravens head coach John Harbaugh won his battle with tight end Todd Heap. Harbaugh was unhappy with Heap's absences in training camp practices, and told him so. He also told Heap he had to learn how to block better.
Notice that Heap didn't get many passes thrown his way. Last week against the Texans, he had his best game ever as a blocker. He also caught some passes. Some will say that Heap got more passes because wide receiver Derrick Mason was injured, and the Ravens couldn't throw to him over the middle.
Maybe.
But I also think Heap has learned a lesson that was taught to him by Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron.

This has nothing to do with Heap, but I just saw the John Lynch retired. I'm not sure what his contract demands were or if he is healthy enough to play, but I would have loved to see him in a Ravens uniform. I always thought his style of play would fit perfectly with the Ravens. Can you imagine Lynch and Reed in the back field. I also was surprised to see Ty Law was available until recently. With the Ravens secondary so banged up, I would think those two veteran winners would have been a nice addition.

Mike that is a great observation, and i couldn't agree with you more. I have been arguing all year with people that heap was in harbaugh's dog house but to no avail. Let me make myself clear todd heap is one of my favorite ravens but by missing so much time in training camp it didn't help is cause any playing down the soft label. I told everybody at the beginning of the season that harbaugh knows who put out in training camp and those you revolted with his style of coaching . Trust me heap wasn't the only one and the one sure thing that i see on this team beside there new winning attitude is that coach harbaugh will get things down his own way with his own players.

Mr. Preston,
You may certainly have a point there, one I wouldn't argue with. It seems John Harbaugh has set the expectations for this team, and hasn't shown any willingness to back down from them, see Chris McAlister and Willis McGahee.
I believe Heap has signed on, and his blocking has indeed improved exponentially. Look for him to play a huge part down the stretch.

Now that the Ravens have a decent QB, they have to find recievers to throw the ball to. Heap is benifitting from Flacco's ability to get the ball down field. Look for Heap to catch more balls down the stretch because of the lack of quality wideouts.
