Ravens optimistic about OTs Terry and Gaither

The Ravens are hopeful that starting offensive tackles Adam Terry and Jared Gaither will be able to play against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Terry suffered a concussion late in the first quarter of yesterday’s 36-7 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles and did not return. Terry, who started at left tackle, was replaced by Gaither, who finished the game despite a badly injured right shoulder.

"We’re not ruling them out at this stage," Harbaugh said. "We think there’s a good chance they’ll be able to play."

Harbaugh was not as effusive when the topic of Trevor Pryce's availability was brought up. The defensive end also suffered a concussion and did not return. "I don’t have enough information to say," Harbaugh said. "We’ll have to see."

Other notes:

• Harbaugh defended the play of the special teams unit, which surrendered its second kickoff return for a touchdown this season. Pointing out Jameel McClain's blocked punt, a punt rush that produced a 15-yard tripping penalty on the Eagles and contributed to a Matt Stover field goal, and punt coverage on DeSean Jackson, Harbaugh said, "I was disappointed with the special teams on the spot after the game. Going back and looking at the tape, I’m pleased with them, believe it or not, because all of the other plays were really good, solid plays."

• Harbaugh said he was prepared for a Gatorade shower toward the end of yesterday's game. But he wasn't prepared for the timing of the bath. "I didn’t think it would come with three minutes left in the game," he complained, tongue-in-cheek. "Talking to the officials, the officials aren’t supposed to be setting up the Gatorade shower, right? So it was shocking that it happened at that point."

• Harbaugh was not moved about the NFL's decision to shift the Ravens’ home game against the Washington Redskins on Dec. 7 to Sunday night. "Couldn’t care less," said Harbaugh, who emphasized that the team is focusing on the upcoming contest against the Bengals. "It doesn’t matter. We’ll be there. We’ll show up on time."

• Linebacker Antwan Barnes stopped Philadelphia running back Brian Westbrook for a 2-yard loss in the third quarter by pulling on Westbrook’s jock strap. Quipped Harbaugh: "I think it’s a testament to the resiliency of some of the football equipment that they’re putting out now."

Look i said it when he was first drafted, and i will say it now. Terry is a bust out draft pick.I am not jumping on him, because i know he has a concussion, but before he left yesterday's game he was beaten on every snap he took. he just isn;t quick enough out of his stance to beat speed rushing linebackers or quick ends. They would have had to replace him with gather anyway. He just doesn't get the job done period. END Of STORY

Geesh you chew on a bone.
Pretty impressive considering your age "Bob from Towson"
Terry has worked hard and has performed admirably this year with a severly hurt ankle.(It has been for 2 years bust out boy) No Adam will never be a star but he will remain a solid member of a depleated O line that has exceeded everyones expectations. One could argue our surprising season is directly related to their fine performance. And our line has played much better than Pitts. Now, rest your teeth and gums. Stop flapping about nothing. You will have the Orioles to complaign about soon enough loser.

Considering the Ravens remaining schedule, it's premature to talk about the playoffs. The Cowboys and Steelers games are critical wins necessary to be considered contenders for any playoff success.

forget about terry he blows gathier plays better even when his shoulder is messed up

Blancione you're talking out of your butt. I was at the game and watched the tape when I got home. Terry played very well. I didn't see him get beat once in the 3 series he was in for. I'm a high school line coach and pay particularly close attention to line play. I think Terry, like everybody on are line has been very solid this season. Yesterday Gaither struggled with Cole a couple of times in the 2nd half and their tackles gave us problems - Chester and Brown got put on skates a couple of times. But that's a real good front 7 and they'll win their share of battles. You want to rip somebody, know what you're talking about.

I was talking to Terry's wife the other day and do you know what play Terry got the concussion? It was the first down of the last series he played in. HE KEPT PLAYING. He couldn't see and his hearing was all distorted but he was still fighting out there.. BLIND! I am really impressed with the strength and determination that this line has, especially Terry. He is fighting through a lot right now get off his back.

While I appreciate Terry's tough mentality, I agree with the fact that we should probably move on after this season. The man still manages to be called for a false start in just about every game; there is no excuse for that when you're talking about a veteran who has started enough games to know better.

The thing the ravens need to improve the most urgently is the special teams as they have been largely atrocious. 1/3 of the points come from special teams and the momentum can change so quickly with a run back as happened last sunday against the eagles, but the Defense wasn't having any of the momentum change thankfully or all ravens fans would be sucking wind right now instead of contemplating the future for this season.
