Ravens-Giants will come down to Manning vs. Flacco
The Ravens and Giants will play a close game Sunday because the two teams are built a lot alike as far as philosophy. Both teams like to run and both defenses are built to stop the run. The Giants have an advantage because they are at home, but the Ravens don't care because they have enough confidence to play any team anywhere right now.
The game will come down to quarterbacks, and which one makes the plays, and which one makes the turnovers. In two of the Ravens three losses -- one against the Steelers and one against the Titans -- they lost because rookie quarterback Joe Flacco made more mistakes and fewer big plays than his counterparts.
I think that will happen again Sunday because Eli Manning will make more plays and commit fewer turnovers than Flacco.

Well then Mike, I guess Flacco is just going to have to prove you wrong.

Your right Mike it will come down to which defense puts the most pressure on thr QB.

Mike, don't be too sure yet to leave the Ravens out. If Cam can come up with play action that involves Troy, then Giants will be introuble. Besides, the pressure is on the defending champs, not on the Ravens. Win or lose it's good for the
Ravens, nothing to be ashame about. But for a Baltimore sports writer and picks a different team, I don't know. It's just degrading.
Ravens still have a better defense than Giants.

I'd like to see the Ravens come out Sunday and start Troy Smith. It would throw Steve Spagnuolo's plans in the crapper. It might cause just the right imbalance at the start and tip the advantage to the Ravens.

Gee Mike, great insight. Didn't know you were so clairvoyant (is that how you spell it)! Now if the opposite occurs, are you willing to stand up and take the heat? We'll see.

If the ravens get the kickoff, put up a 7, force a three and out, get another 3 or 7...then they have a chance. If they are behind after the first quarter, forget it.
Did you watch the giants eagles last week? They ripped the eagles, the score shouldn't have been that close. The g-men are better in every area - including defense - than the ravens are. Statistically, the giants have been in a lot of blowouts which is why their defense isn't rated hire. They have deeper rotations on the line and in the secondary.
I like the idea of the ravens putting up a fight, but you must remember, the ravens D has been on the field less than any other, that is why it is rated so high (thank Cam). If the giants win the TOP, look for a tired ravens D to fold in the second half.
Giants 30, Ravens 16

Hey,
We hear about the vaunted Giants Run attack all the time. I decided to take a look see at a game the G-Men played against a run defense somewhat close to ours recently. It was a couple weeks ago against the Squealers. Guess what the run average was for that game ?? 2.7 yds.
B. Jacobs 18 Rushs for 47 yards and a 2.6 Average
D. Ward 13 Rushes for 37 yards and a 2.8 average.
Guess how the G-Men won that game. Big Ben threw 4 picks and also the Squealers gave up a safety late when Harrison had to come in as long snapper and kicked it way over the punters head.
Now this does not mean much I suppose. But hey everyone keeps yakking about how we are going to have to stop the "Powerful" G-Men rush attack.
Its down to mistakes I think folks. Also here is a intangible. I think that the Ravens are gonna be more up for this game than the Giants. I think the underdog in these types of inter divisional games comes in with something to prove. While the favorite tends to spend this energy against big divisional opponents.
Take care of the ball, limit the damage in our defensive secondary, and put a few smacks on Eli. I bet we pull this out in the fourth quarter.

Giants D give up 3,9 yards on average per run. Ravens D give up 2,9. Ravens are going to be able to run aswell as pass. Pressure to pass will be larger on Manning.

The question is how much better is our offense than at the start of the season? With the Giants offensive line Eli will have the time to expose our secondary some. They won't be able to run it.
Has Joe and the offense matured enough to take on a defense of the caliber of the Giants? I say yes( but I am being a subjective fan.)

Great analysis by HappyRaven! If the Ravens play close to their potential, it will come down to which offense turns the ball over.
The only game we weren't in was against Indy, and I think that was because both the Pitt & Tenn games were so physical... and that we lost both of those close games. We were physically toast and that cost us.
This should be a close game, or maybe even a nice Raven victory.

Well,
"Great analysis by HappyRaven!"
After watching the actual game. I have to say that the Giants are the best team in the NFL and my analysis while good on paper was off the mark. We are now just a hopeful playoff team. Silver lining is that the Iggles looked bad on Offense today and we may be able to win this coming week and the next week vs the Bungles.
