Offense takes personality of head coach, QB
It's been interesting and fun watching the Ravens' offense evolve. The offense lacks explosive players and explosive plays, but it seems to have adopted the personality of head coach John Harbaugh and rookie quarterback Joe Flacco.
Regardless of the score or the situation, the Ravens always seem in control and poised. They just keep grinding at teams in a nice, steady pace. Harbaugh might not say it publicly, but one of the major reasons the Ravens are so successful in the fourth quarter is because of the hard work in training camp.
The Ravens outwork other teams, and it goes back to those physical practices in training camp. The old school approach still works in the NFL.

Tell that to McGahee.

The offense may lack explosive players, but we do have some explosive players make no doubt. Forget about Ray Rice? How about Mark Clayton?

Right on Mike. The not too high, not too low aproach has been Harbaughs and Flaccos focus. I like that and I also think this style helps everyone on the team act as if they have been there before.

The old school approach works evrywhere in football, but most coacehs don't have the stones to face down the big ego players when they need to, now if the Ravens can get rid of the last vestige of Billick holdoverswe will really be on the way, i.e. McGahee, Heap, McCallister, and a few others!

Mike B-
Why you would consider Heap someone to get rid of (at least for the reason of being a Billick holdover, and therefore malcontent) is beyond me. He is the ultimate team first guy- and hasn't complained once or lacked hustle given his diminished role in the offense.
I also agree about McGahee, but I wouldnt even consider him a "Billick" guy. He was with him ONE season. McGahee's issues woudl be the same with any coach.
It's easy to dump on McCallister right now- but let's see you call for the release of Ed Reed and a few others- who have admitted to not totally buying into harbaugh's system (and missing the lax Billick camp).
I guess basically you mean get rid of any player who is underperforming- and therefore why the reference to "Billick vestige?" The two have nothing to do with one another.

Hey Ravi, I agree about going to Clayton more but lets give Rice more support. I don't think we need another Priest Holmes or Chester Taylor go to another team.

Yep, I can buy that. But, I don't agree with the previous poster in saying ditch Heap and McAlister. McGahee maybe, but McAlister is still one of the best corners in the league when healthy and Heap just needs to learn the new system. I think all we really need is a good #1 receiver, some depth in the secondary and another year experience under Flacco's and Rice's belt.
Oh, and at least one more year out of Ray Lewis

Give Flacco another year and you'll see something explosive. I watched him grow in his two years at Delaware. When he learns the game a little more, and he gets one more solid receiver -- he'll be making plays like you won't believe.

Folks, if you think Mark Clayton is explosive, then you must think Ocho Cinco is a gentleman. Clayton has NO speed and is Derrick Mason without the iron.
There is no burner on this team (Figures is Patrick Johnson lite). Once they get a real number one receiver, Clayton will inherit the Derrick Mason role.

Mike, if u can draw that kinda line between wasting players by injury and poise I believe it.
I guess your point really is poise and maturity.
The D we've had from day one is close to legend. If poise is the first factor to balance that identity, its so important cause we aint had it. Ever. So, this in my mind is a promising, good offer. And I was luke warm on Flacco, Ill say that right now.
I just hope we get some corners, I just hope we get some corners and receivers.

Anyone who includes Heap in that group of players who are disgruntled is crazy. Heap has done a great job blocking this year, and he has not complained once about the lack of passes. Each qb has their favorite targets. Remember when Wright took over for the injured Boller, Heap received no passes then either. Heap is a victim of needing pass protection for Flaaco and that's it. He is a hard worker and all-time great Raven. As Rich Rodriquez would say, some of you fans need to get a life.

Face it, they've only beaten crappy teams (and a mediocre team who for some reason pulled their pro bowl QB for someone with zero experience when trailing by only 3 points). Where was the benefit of the (allegedly) hard training camp when they blew 2nd half leads to Pittsburgh and Tennessee?

A lot of their fourth-quarter success has to do with defense. I seem to remember Ed Reed returning picks for touchdowns long before Harbaugh arrived on the scene.

The Ravens have one of the highest number of players on IR. Is that because of the old school approach too?
Not saying I disagree with the approach...

i think that the playoffs are going to be more often than with years past with Brian Billick and now a few weapons on offense and replacec the older player with some younger players and now the afc will only have 1 spot if you think about it ? the north will be a tie with the ravens and the steelers and the south with the colts and west that has many question and the patriots with the east and now what dose it look like now
i think that C-Mac is gone and here is why there are a few good conners out there like asaomiay or how u spell it + hall and another 1 we could get and trade for detriots second 1st round pick for a WR and WR then second a either TE OL OR DB now the raven are looking good , next detriot looks bad and they want Brian Billick GO AHEAD

Until 2007, when we had no pass defense and terrible o-line play, the Ravens under Billick had one of the best records in November and December in the NFL. Billick's approach was successful, too.

It makes me sick when someone hasnt produced for one year like they have done maybe 5 season in a row..and everyone is ready to cut them. Now if Heap was to go someone and have a season like he has had in the past it would go down as one of the dumbest football moves. and so would getting rid of McCallister....
Baltimore sun Poll Asked Will the Ravens beat the bengals I was shocked to see 85.4 percent said NO....What the hell is going on with our fans... Baltimroe has some of the most sometimie Fans in the league...My answer HELL YES we are going to beat the bengals! GO RAVENS!
