Ozzie Newsome won't pay too much for Hall
I can't see Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome paying a lot of money for former Raiders cornerback DeAngelo Hall. Newsome has expressed token interest but Hall will demand a lot of money. In the past, the Ravens have generally built through the draft instead of acquiring high priced free agents.
Also, DeAngelo comes with a bad reputation. First-year coach John Harbaugh already has some head cases he needs to get rid of after this season.

I am 50/50 on this one. We need some CB help. Hall Has shown skills in the past. What does he have left? Was it just a bad situation? Would he play better as a Raven?
He might look good in Purple, as we tackle the NFC East.
On the other hand, if he has high money demands for a guy who has been getting torched on D, and potential bad apple, maybe he is better off in NE, Dallas, or where ever.
Glad I do not make those calls for the ravens. (or any team)
Cannot count on Ray lewis to keep guys in line, but you also cannot expect every single player to fit the perfect person/citizen role. They are football players, they need some edge.
Will teams give him a long term deal? or just a half year wait and see what you can do on the field.
He is younger, our Cb are older.....
50/50 Tough Call I will not be mad either way.

Mike...who would you classify as a head case on this squad? Macalister? Willis?Sizzle?
Am I on the right track?

DeAngelo Hall is coasting on his name alon at this point. Atlanta was wise to get rid of him when they did. He is an overrated, burnable fraud. He will not improve the Ravens secondary or their lockerroom.

Hall should come in and turn his career around. He signs for the remainder of this year for a cap friendly amount of money. Shows that he is ready to play as he did when he first came into the league. This would help him get the big contract he wants during freeagency. Also gives him an opportunity to work with players who can keep him in line, like Ray and Reed. Plus he would have a chance to be on a possible play-off team as opposed to the Raiders.

I wouldn't sign Hall. Team chemistry is too good now. Hall is obviously a trouble maker by his dealings in Atlanta and now Oakland. Let the Cowboys pick him up and watch them self destruct even more.

Mike,
I agree. Hall has now been dumped by two organizations. There's a reason for that.
There's no need to turn the Ravens into a correctional institution. There's already one in place in Dallas.
Leave this dude alone.

It's hard to judge a player on how he performs in the Silver and Black these days. Look at Moss - not to say Hall is on that level, but he was a very high pick and playing in Atlanta, then Oakland isn't exactly going to bring out the best in too many players. As long as he's not too expensive, I think we have to make a real effort to bring this guy in. Corner is a real need and he's young and has shown the talent in the past. Rolle and C-Mac are more or less done. You can grab a corner in the draft but we're still going to need at least one more experienced starter at that position. If Hall wants a chance to prove his worth, this is a great place to do it.

Well,
Here is a interesting point. How about we sign him just to block him from signing with the Patriots Or Squealers ???
Although that might be giving him more credit than he is worth. Maybe sending him to either of those teams would help us in the end. Although I sense that he would be rather focused and on his best behavior knowing that would lead to a decent payday in 2009 after he is a Free Agent.

This could get interesting. Would Hall take a discount to finish up the year with a contender, have the opportunity to salvage his reputation, and cash in big-time next year?
Also, what about Javon Walker (another talented headcase out of Oakland)? Any interest from the Ravens there?

Hall's issues were with Bobby Petrino. The same Bobby Petrino that walked away from his team in the middle of the season. Maybe Hall was just bright enough to see what every one else was missing.

we are a young corner like Hall and a big time vertical receiver away from winning another super bowl.

In other injury news, the Ravens could place safety Dawan Landry (neck) on injured reserve as early as Monday.
With Landy gone we need a good corner to take the pressure off of the safety positions.

I think that the Ravens should try to go after DeAngelo Hall if the price is right. He's one of the top corners in the league and is still only 24 years old. Also, it can allow the Ravens to get rid of either Samari Rolle or McAlister. I would say it'd be a pretty smart decision to sign him.

doesn't matter because skins already goblled him up.

I agree that I am 50/50 on Hall, but don't think the guy can't play. The same things were said about Randy Moss when he played in Oakland and then he went on to have the best single season of any receiver in history as far as total TD's when he left to go to New England. I think if you can get Hall for a reasonable price, you take him. He has the skills and desire to be great. Randy Moss changed his ways after leaving Minnesota and Oakland, I think Hall could also. Plus, he knows what a fierce D we have and I believe he would play harder for us than any other team.

We should throw the kitchen sink at Hall. He is a great young talent that has a real chance to mature under Ryan and R. Lewis. Sorry Harbaugh we do need a number 1 corner and Hall can be that guy. I agree with the other comment that we have other head cases on the team, some produce some don’t. With Harbaugh it seems to be about production with Newsome its always has been and always will be about talent. Hall will come here next week and when the Ravens see him work out Rex Ryan and Ozzie will convince Harbaugh that there is a need for an athlete like this. His talent will speak for itself, and his desire to play for the 2nd best D and a good team for once in his career will lead to production. By week 12 he could be are starting CB. Walker has improved, Washington still looks step behind and Cory Ivy is Cory Ivy. Besides them who do we have the guy that let Edwards run right by him last week? But I guess us fans just have to sit here while the patriots or skins get him… NEVER MIND HE IS A SKIN, way to go.

It'd be nice to have him and try him out, but I'm not going to pay a lot of that muffler.

I'm glad we didn't sign Hall. He's a younger version of C-Mac. He has a ton of talen but is a distraction to a team. He has great ability as does C-Mac but they both have a tendency to peak into the backfield and think that their ability will make up for that hesitation. As we've seen in the NFL, Great Receivers and Quarterbacks will pick up on that and exploite it all day long (see Marvin & Peyton).
Dance with who brung ya, Rolle is back and Washington and Wright have been decent lately.

way to go, we had a chance to get a class cb,and let him slip through our fingers. Its not like we dont need help on our corners. Cmac ,gone Reed is hurting the rest of the backs are make shift.Idont know what they where thinking.A desent gun slinger should have a field day in our backfield.
