T. Smith's role going forward

It was great to see quarterback Troy Smith return to practice this week after the long battle with a tonsil infection. Head coach John Harbaugh made it seem like Smith was still in contention for the starting quarterback job, but that job now belongs to rookie Joe Flacco, and rightfully so. But at least Harbaugh was smart enough not to publicly kill any enthusiasm Smith has about returning. And before the season is over, the Ravens might have to go to Smith if Flacco gets injured.

Somehow, I think Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron will get Smith on the field in certain situations whether it's as a quarterback, running back or receiver. He is a great athlete, and any time he steps on the field, Smith will get a defense's attention.

I wish Troy Smith, health and much success as a backup QB in the NFL. I don't care how bad it gets for Joe this year, now that he is starting, he needs to take whatever lumps he is going to get and learn. The only reason to pull him this year is injury. Period. End of statement.

well i think smith going to get some relief apperance for flacco they have 14 staraight games left and everybody knows that rookie qb dont play 16 games in college so joe is going to wear down a lot by the end and if every one stops loosing faith in them and start beleving in them we might make a run at the playoffs and we need a healthy rest joe flacco for the end.so i think troy is going to get a lot of play at the qb postion especially agaisnt that titans defense thats going to come for flacco.

Can you say slash???

Could you imagine putting Smith in as a wide out, with a pitch to him, to throw downfield.

Or line him up as an RB with Flacco, and no one would know who could throw it.

Why not move him around some this year?H'ed be another weapon that teams won't be prepared for.Look,if the Ravens are going to hang with the big boys then an element of surprise might be called for in certain situations during a game.He can also line up behind Flacco as a runner and guess what?we have two pure passers the defense will be crosseyed looking at!

That last short paragraph says it all. Troy Smith needs to be the new Slash or take notes from Randel El. We need WRs and Smith would make a great addition plus we could use him for some trick plays.

Keep dreaming T. Smith is not a NFL quarter back. If T.Smith really wants to play in NFL he might have to work with the special teams unit. I just don't see him being a quarter back in NFL he does not have an arm for it. He does not have mobility like Micheal Vick. I don't know what people see in T.Smith as a quarter back.

Troy Smith is an outstanding athlete. The Raven's need to find a way to get him on the field when he is completely healthy. The offense would benefit by getting the ball in his hands.
