Cameron deserved more time in Miami

Much is being said and written about Cam Cameron's one-year stay in Miami as the Dolphins' head coach, but the bottom line is that no coach, unless there is some ethics violation (which there wasn't), should be fired after one season.

I don't care what the win-loss record is, no coach should be expected to turn a franchise around in a year, especially the Dolphins.

At the least, Cameron should have been given three years. And once the Dolphins hired Bill Parcells to run the organization, Cameron had no chance of returning because Parcells was going to bring in one of his own guys as head coach.

It's unfortunate that it didn't work out for Cameron, but I believe all things happen for a reason. He's a good man, and he probably learned a lot from that year in Miami. If he can get the Ravens' offense going and can develop Joe Flacco, he'll get another shot in the NFL.

Jimmy Johnson and Troy Aikman went 1-15 in their first year. Peyton Manning threw 28 interceptions in his first year.

As a close up observer of last year's Dolphins fiasco, I can fairly say that Huizenga had to ax Cameron even if Parcells had not been brought in. He was directly responsible for 4 losses in my estimation - purely through not managing timeouts and making ultra conservative decisions when the team had absolutely nothing to lose. He's also guilty of countless acts of bafoonery including saying that the Miami Dolphins "are drafting the entire Ginn familiy" and the regrettable "fail forward fast" approach. He may be a fine coordinator but it will be a dark day for one desperate city if he ever holds a head coaching position again. He failed at Indiana and he most certainly failed the Dolphins. Would you really hire this man to a three year contract to coach the Ravens? No team deserves that.

We have already seen more creativity in Cam's offense than we have in years. Hopefully more will come as Joe develops and more skilled players are added next year and the year after. We were very fortunate to get Cam and hopefully he will stay for years like Patyon's coordinator in Indy.

Cam got a raw deal...you can see that from all those players who are running their mouthes from the Dolphins who were on the team last year.

As much as you would like to protray Cam Cameron as as a victim of Bill Parcel's change in direction he has to accept the responsibility of this actions-most especially his drafting of Ted Ginn Jr instead of Brady Quinn in the 1st round 2 yrs ago.Why he would ever draft a kick returner/2nd receiver defied any logical explanation he offerred when the Dolphins were starving for a QB.He lost respect of most veterans to the point he apparently according to news reports was embarrassed by some players on a plane ride home after a loss. While it may be perceived as unfair-if Cam really was a true evaluator of talent, he would have done what Tony Sparano,Jeff Ireland and Bill Parcels have done this year-clean house and bring in places who want to play hard and win-not settle for malcontents like Cam did.

I'm from Miami--saw every game-- it wasn't because of poor players or new coaching scheme that lead to the 1-15 season as much as it was poor coaching decisions that cost the fish at least 4 other games-- his lack of leadership in the manner of handling stars compared to the rest of the team was obvious. All these factors i hope are being address on the Ravens which certainly has it prima- donnas!!

mr preston. i have not been a big fan of yours over the years. i like the articles i ve been reading though. new start for everyone with harbaugh here.

Cameron had lost the locker room by the end of last season. The player didn't respect him anymore. He had to be fired.

Cam Cameron was a dead beat head coach, nice guy but you dont win games being nice. he reminds me of a nice uncle, bores you to death with his stories, but you don't tell him nothing cause his nice. Cam Cameron will fit nice in as asst or coord. but not a hc ever again. Go Dolphins !!!!!!!!!!!!!! predict C.Penny will have a huge day and the Wildcat offense will tear up RayRay defense apart. Dolphins 33-10

"Phat Kat", please be sure to come back and take your hits like a pinata when the Ravens beat your Dolphins in that armpit you call a stadium.

"Armpit of a Stadium" You have never been to Miami, It's definitely one of the nicer stadiums in the league. There is a reason other than just the weather, that Miami hosts the Super Bowl more than any other city. Also Mike Preston? Did you just watch the clips from the last dolphin game, Yeremiah Bell is a solid safety with pro bowl talent. Andre Goodman is not very good so you were right on one of them. Cam Cameron had more than a fair shot, yes it is impossible to turn a team around in a year, but this guy had absolutely no control over his locker room. Good coordinator, poor head coach.

Hey Macadamia, once Ronnie Brown finds the fin zone, he will put your dfense in a headlock , whos's gonna be smelling armpits now buddy boy!!! Go watch "The Wire" & leave football to the Big BOYSS!!!!!!! Dolphins 33-10 R.Williams 12 rushes 72 yds, R. Brown 14att. 103 yds C.Penny 17/21 334 yds 3 tds . Anthony fasano Big day aswell over 100yd mark.

Armpit of a stadium??
How about the armpit of a city, Baltimore?
What does that have to do with the price of tea in china?

The nitty gritty is that Baltimore has injuries all over.. the only thing you guys have going for you is an all world defensive line. but guess what? our O line excels in the run game..

I predict a close, smashmouth game with the winner controling the line of scrimmage...
and I also predict me not getting my homework done because of the victory party i will have..

VIVA MIAMI! AYE AYE AYE AYEEEE

Cameron was a total failure as a head coach. It was not the 1-15 record, but what he did off the field. The staff he hired had no clue, and were just plain bad talent evaluators. They axed the only good special teams players we had, and that depleted our DLine, as those guys were the backups there. He was forced to accept Capers as his DC, and never spoke to the guy, according to reports. They signed Joey Porter and then refused to use him properly. His draft debacle was a disaster, and made him a fan target before Training Camp even opened. "We are drafting the whole Ginn Family" line just made people roll their eyes. And then also telling people that "Ted Ginn will make us proud watching him return kicks" is not exactly what you want to hear about your 1st round pick, especially a 9th pick in the draft, when the possible franchise QB of Brady Quinn was sitting there for the taking. His pick of John Beck seems to have been another bust and waste of a 2nd round pick, as we see Trent Edwards, the next QB taken as the capable starter in Buffalo. He also lost his locker room towards the end of the year, and was dressed down in a meeting in front of his players, by Joey Porter, the very player he had brought in as his prize Free Agent.

Cameron could not have survived if Parcells was here or not. He would be gone no matter what.

"Fail forward fast" (((ROLLEYES))) classic doofus line
