Underwhelmed by Bouman

Todd Bouman?

Wow. Todd Bouman?

The Ravens reportedly signed him to a one-year deal as the newest quarterback, and backup to Joe Flacco. Since he is the weakest of the three that the Ravens worked out Monday (the other two were Joey Harrington and Chris Simms), I think the Ravens signed him because he was the least of a threat to Flacco. At least the rookie doesn't have to keep looking over his shoulder.

I also suspect he was the cheapest and fit GM Ozzie Newsome's theme of "right player, right price."

Anyway, it's no big deal. As soon as I heard the Ravens might sign Harrington, I wrote this season off.

Todd Bouman?

Wow- I can certainly see why a 13-3 record 21 months ago wasn't good enough for the Sun. Things are looking way brighter right now.

again you just got to get that dig in your article earlier said basically ravens know there not going anywhere now in this blog you write the season off , good , then stop writing articles on the ravens . everyone knows that the beginning of a new season brings hope , tell me how many teams overacheive in any sport in any given year . ya just gotta stop go write for someone else maybe the patriots or colts so you can bring them down ....your horrible

"Right player, right price" actually has a meaning. Or at least it used to. It meant finding quality players who could fill a role and be a positive asset to the team, without breaking the bank on the market's current "Flavor of the Day". Todd Bouman is NOT in that model. He's not the right player, at ANY price, for any role on this team. If he is, then Ozzie is throwing the entire season away, just to keep things "clean and hassle free" for the club's next reach at QB. In which case I'd like my season ticket money returned, please...

Agreed---go write for someone else...
You never try to see the positive side.
You are going to write the season off before the first game??? You should find another job, on another coast.
EXBIRDMAN

I AM CURIOUS IF THE RAVENS COACHING STAFF AGREES WITH YOUR OPINION OF BOUMAN. HE REALLY IS A GOOD QUARTERBACK. LOOK AT HIS RECENT PRE-SEASON. HE GOT BETTER EACH TIME OUT.

Did anyone really want Simms or Harrington? I'm happy with Bouman, thank you. Right player, right price or not, I think he has the most valuable veteran experience - having bounced around the league so long, I'm guessing he's seen it all and will be a good resource for Joe and Troy. Bye Kyle.

Mike this is not getting any better. Seems like every article is another nail in the coffin. Are you writing about the Ravens or have you switched to obituaries? This guy Bouman, is pronounced "Boo" or "Bow" but I guess it doesn't matter. Can Roy Hobbs play quarteback?

uhhh, DAUNTE CULPEPPER PLEASE!!! I dont care how much pressure it puts on Flacco, at least if Flacco doesn't perform well (as in throws 2 picks or somethin like that) in the first half, then we can put a half-decent quarterback in, one that can give us a chaaance to win, instead bouman, and now culpepp's retired
