Ravens close to signing tackle W. Anderson

The Ravens are close to signing former Bengals Pro Bowl offensive tackle Willie Anderson to a three-year contract worth $11 million. Anderson probably can't play Sunday against his former team, but he might be able to provide the Ravens with some tips.

He tells the Cincy paper that he hopes to start on Sun. He's played all preseason so why not?

It would be nice to add some veterans to the O line. Anderson could be very good for this team.

First question is this? Does Anderson still have gas in the tank?

Second, with him signing, unless he's injured, does he replace Terry or Gaither?

I admit being an optimist but here is my take on why the ravens will do better than expected;
1. No one expects it
2. No Brian Billick
3. Flacco showing signs of being the real thing
4. Ray Rice
5. Willie Anderson
6. Derrick Mason

Now if only the defense comes to play we may have a real chance.
(course the critics also said the O's were toast and except for a few weeks they've been extra crispy)

good sign

Trying to improve the team, this nonsense must stop! OZZIE MUST GO! What could a Former Pro Bowler do for the team. Gaither and Terry have it all under control! Costing us draft picks if we win more games because of this lame signing. Protecting the QB is not that important. If Flacco is any good, he can deal with the line we have! OZZIE, stop the insanity of trying to improve the team! How are we suppose to run you out of town with moves like this. Enough is enough! What's next CB help?

Breaking news, "He has signed the contract and will not play this week" but is able to man both ends. We needed him bad and good job Ozzie ! The Redskins look terrible and the o looks like a zero. Zorn doesn't have smile on his face ?

Tell him to bring his playbook.

Once again, I hope you are enjoying the purple kool ade. NEWS FLASH the Ravens are NOT going to the playoffs this year. Signing a 33 year old lineman to a 3 year contract is short sighted and stupid. I know his contract isn't guaranteed, but it will have cap impacts for the next 3 years. This team is not a player or two away from the playoffs. They need an overhaul that includes moving on from these older guys and this is a step backwards. Have you followed the Orioles the past 11 years before McPhail took over? They did the same thing bringing in older players while ignoring the fact that a rebuilding effort was needed. Just remember, another 33 year old lineman of ours just RETIRED, now your patting Ozzie on the back for signing another 33 year old, fresh off an injury filled year, to a cap impacting 3 year contract?!?! This team needs to determine it's course of action- it's not 2000 where they add a vet or two to push them over the top. This is a short sighted, dumb move.

The Ravens' signing OT Willie Anderson is smart move . I am surprised he picked us over Tampa Bay and San Diego . Once he learns the system , Cam can insert him immediately . Ozzie , you made a good call . And why they signed Anderson? DEPTH , in case Gaither/Terry get injured again.

Ravens signing CB Evan Olgesby is good move to bolster their thin CB ranks.

Jim Zorn may not have a smile on his face , but the Giants sure gave me a Joker smile after Skins loss .

Doug M - that has to sarcasm, right?

Doug M - comment of the season so far!

Great signing - I hope they move Terry to left tackle, and Anderson to right, and put gaither on the bench to get his head together.

This is a very good pick up. Good job by ozzie for giving him the security of a 3 year deal. And if he can get back to his pro bowl level then this is a steal. If not he can be a solid back up at the least.
