Just where is the love?
The Bart Scott vs. Hines Ward saga got off to another rousing start today when Ward was questioned by Baltimore reporters on a conference call.
On if he remembers the threat he received from Scott last season, Ward said: "Yeah, he threatened to kill me after the game. I got a big laugh out of it."
On if he's excited to see Scott in Monday's game: "Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. He's a great ballplayer, and any time you get competitive, it's always great to go out there and compete. I'll go out there and smile at him a couple of times on the field."
On if it's hard to not take what Scott says personally: "No, not really. I mean, out on the field you're going to have a war of words. Guys are going to talk about your mother, talk about anything to try to get up under your skin. We played with one of the best of them in the league -- Joey Porter. It's just words. Words don't hurt me, or whatever. I'm pretty sure if I see Bart out in the street, outside of football, I'm pretty sure he's not going to kill me."
Nah, but he would punch you in the face.

Just curious.....what exactly happened between the two that set Scott off?? Was this after the game in Baltimore or the MNF game in Pittsburgh? Thanks for your help

On the Jim Rome show, Bart said he was pissed because he held up a little on his huge hit of Ben two years ago. He said he could of put his helmet in his sternum and really hurt him, but that he didn't out of respect. He said he is so mad at Hines because of some late and unnecessary(such as away from the play) hits Hines put on Ed Reed last year on MNF. Asked if he would make the same choice if he got a clean shot on Ben again, Bart said he would put his helmet in his sternum. Gotta love Bart's honesty.

Ah yes, Hines Ward, the king of the cheap shot.
Words cannot express how badly I want to see someone in purple tear his cheeky @#$%ing head off on Monday night.

Ward has to be the biggest cheap shot artist in the league. I can only hope we blow him up, at least once, ala Kellen Winslow, and wipe that silly-ass grin off his face.

Probably has something to do with Scott referring to Ward as "Soy Sauce", a knock on his Korean ancestry.
Posted by: Mr. Deez | September 24, 2008 4:04 PM
Actually, I think the sauce Scott talked about was the "Hot Sauce" he mentioned when asked about his big hit on Reggie Bush in 2006. He said something like, "Yeah, give me a little hot sauce to put on that." I don't remember any "Soy Sauce" comments from Scott, just the "Hot Sauce" comment.

bart and ed reed caught cheap shots from ward in the monday nighter last year. reed got the worst of it. its all over youtube. and i wouldnt be surprised one bit if the hit caused the nerve injury to reeds neck/shoulder.
ward put his helmet down and blindsided reed in the facemask during a block on a run play.
ward is notoriously known to coaches around the nfl as one of the dirtiest players in the game
im sure the defense has watched the tape from last year. we all know how bart feels about it. what about some of the other players?

I'm as big a Ravens fan as you're going to find, but I can't stand Bart Scott I can't wait until he is outta here after this season. Yeah, he was great a few years ago, playing in the shadow of Adalius Thomas, but since he has done nothing but run his mouth. They attempted to throw him in the AD role last year and he got burned by TE's the whole time. Not only that, he certainly didn't help the TEAM by being a selfish brat during the Patriots fiasco last year. He's all hat, no cattle and I'm willing to bet the farm that given Suggs and Ray's contracts needing attention, the "Hot Sauce" will be left out in the cold.

Where did all those Bungles and Browns fans went? They spent the offseason talking about how their teams gonna SWEEP our Ravens this year .
"Times , They are A-Changing"

"Soy Sauce?" Now THAT is hilarious. Hines Ward is a punk. Here's hoping he decides to come across the middle on MNF for a lil' Ravens Redemption.

Did Scott really call Hines "Soy Sauce?" That's just wrong. If anything he should have called him "Ketchup."

HAHA. That was funny mike. I love Scott

At least two personal penalties will be called on the Ravens defense Monday night. Their mouths always get the better of their brains in big situations.
Scott could just take the high road and forget the events of the past two years (especially after he got jacked up in last year's game), but that's not the Ravens way.

i have never heard about soy sauce, but i know that when asked about the hit on big ben in 06 he something on the lines of "well you know, i just had to bit a little hot sauce on that one".
Posted by: bmore | September 24, 2008 9:03 PM
If there is penalty for late hit(s) on the Ravens, Frank Walker will be involved. Perhaps he can be the sacrifical lamb to send "smiley" to the sidelines for the evening.

It would be a testament of some professional maturity if certain players on the defense would let their play on the field take the place for any personal foul calls by the zebras on national tv.If you see Hines coming at a defender and he's acting antsy Mon. night then I think we owe him a personal hello in 08,compliments from Ed Reed and the entire Ravens fan base back in Md.,Pa.,Del. and Va.

Stupid Monday Night Football! I just want to see this game already! I cant wait until Monday night!!!
Play the game on Friday!!! WHO'S WITH ME????

Last year on Monday night, the same game that Roethlisberger threw five TD's in the first half, Hines leveled Ed Reed and Bart Scott on two separate plays. He was pretty much a headhunter out there. Anyway, the hits he put on those two prompted Scott to go crying to the media like a little girl, even though they were clean hits while the play was still going on. Bart Scott can dish it out with the best of them, but when someone returns the favor, he cries like a baby. The Steelers are going to pound the Ravens and Hines is going to be picking people off like a sniper.

You all are idiots. Both of the Ward hits were clean blocks. Watch them on YouTube.
Posted by: Ridiculous | September 25, 2008 10:39 AM
How can Ward be a cheap shot artist? He's a freakin reciever! Pittsburgh owns the ravens and the AFC and you guys cant handle it period!
Posted by: Domo | September 25, 2008 11:19 AM
Are all Ravens fans really this sad??? I never seen so many people who have to live there lives through a game... Please tell me that your lives are NOT so sad that you wish another human being to be hurt??? SAD!!! Don't get me wrong, I love football but I have a life... It's a GAME.. I knew Baltimore was a small big-city, just didn't know that so many Ravens fans were so small not all but more then I care for... BTW, Wards hits were legal...

Bart Scott needs to keep quiet this week and not talk smack or make threats before the game. The Ravens will play better as underdogs, and don't need to do anything to add motivation for the Steelers. No need to be a Joey Porter.
Besides, I think he would appear far more menacing if he was completely quiet leading up to this game. That would get inside Ward's head without giving the Stillers any bulletin board material.

Hines' didnt throw a 'cheapshot' on Bart Scott last year. Scott got blindsided, similar to the hit Scott put on Big Ben. In viewing the replays, it doesn't look like Bart Scott slowed down or held up one bit on that hit. Kinda funny how Bart Scott can give it but can't take it. As far as the Ed Reed hit goes, I don't think many ravens fans would be calling it a cheapshot if it were the other way around. In any event, hopefully Flacco gets a taste of the NFL tonight.

wah, wah, wah...we were, we were running on the field, and it was in the middle of a play, and he...he hit me wah wah wah
Posted by: Jim | September 25, 2008 1:10 PM
Bart got lit up by a WR...get over it or quit.
Posted by: Biff | September 25, 2008 1:47 PM
Firstly he is known as the BEST blocking wide reciever in the game for a reason. And maybe if baltimore had any reciever that could block your offense wouldnt be as awful as it is. Watch the video. As legal a block as it gets! baltimore is gonna get hurt monday night!

Don't you half-wit Squealer fans have your own newspaper to post your drivel in?
Both hits were NOT clean, period. Just as you Squealer fans claim the hit on Worthlessberger was not clean by Scott, we claim the same about Hiney Ward....now SHUT IT!
GO RAVENS!

Yeah! I agree with all the comments that the players should cause such severe injuries it results in other players getting benched! Maybe a player could get a gun and shoot up the other locker room, or even put a bomb on the plane.
What? Too much?
Alright, I hope someone tears anothers ACL. Gee whiz.
Posted by: Mr Shelldrake | September 25, 2008 2:38 PM
I hope Scott hits Ward so hard it puts him in a concussion.
Posted by: Bill | September 25, 2008 4:31 PM
are you people kidding me? This is football. a game of hitting people.
You are telling me Scott would have tackled someone harder because him and Reed got hit hard by Hines? Give me a break.
Reed and Scott are both bigger than Ward.
Scott shouldnt need that kind of motivation to try to destroy the other teams players every chance he gets, as long as its in a way that doesnt break rules.

Hines is a receiver with the mindset of a linebacker. His hits are clean & the only reason the defense thinks he is dirty is because defenders don't expect a wide out to play the total game.
Posted by: Jerry Lynch | September 25, 2008 10:22 PM
Bart Scott and Ed Reed combined equate to 1/10th of Hines Ward's contribution to football.... They need to man-up because a supposedly smallish "possesion" wide receiver has out played and out hit them on national TV time and time again... Hines Ward Rocks!
Posted by: Brian Murphy | September 25, 2008 10:23 PM
Was this before or after Big Ben lit up the Ravens D for 5 TD passes in the first half last year?
Posted by: Ryan | September 25, 2008 10:31 PM
Ward is know by coaches as one of the dirtiest players in the nfl? are you thinking of rodney harrison? you must be out of your mind. Ward was voted smartest player in nfl by espn. Smartest and dirtiest are two different things.
Posted by: jay | September 27, 2008 11:01 AM
I am a Ravens fan but these postings are just sad. We are calling for their players to get HURT. Are we that insecure with our own team that we feel we can only when if their players get hurt. The fact of the matter is that the Steelers have out played us in many match ups when it counted. Ward is a good player that must be contained. I have confidence that we can win but it won't be easy. I just hope idiots like Scott don't blow the game for us will his temper and useless penalties.
May the best team win.
PS: those hits last year were clean and I would like our receivers to step up like that!

You are all a bunch of haters... You wih that one of your players had half the heart, determination and love of the game that Hines Ward has. Ravens suck! Go Steelers!
Posted by: Monty | September 30, 2008 8:01 PM
Love how you guys ignore the fact that the coaches named him one of the dirtiest players. Their opinion counts far more than yours for obvious reasons.
Posted by: randy | October 7, 2008 11:19 AM
Hines Ward's hits may have been legal but he doesn't have to hit a player to the point of trying to maim the player. He could have just as easily pushed the defender Reed out of the way. Hines is absolutely a head hunter.
