More on E. Jones

I'm glad the Ravens have the luxury of moving outside linebacker Edgar Jones to tight end, but it will retard the process of developing him at his natural position. Jones is very athletic and reminds some team officials of former Ravens outside linebacker Adalius Thomas. Jones has played well in camp and has a great burst off the ball. He was just getting used to playing linebacker, and dropping into pass coverage. Moving him to tight end shows the Ravens have little faith in the players behind starting tight end Todd Heap, though I still like Adam Bergen, the third-year player out of Lehigh.

It all comes down to the lack of quality talent Ozzie has produced..........

Another gaping hole that reveals our awful lack of depth.

Remember Darnell Dinkins? Good enough to make the roster of a 10-win team (Browns), but not good enough for the Ravens. We could use him now. Savage strikes again.

I don't like this move either Mike. I think Jones could be another AD as well, if given time at OLB. Moving him to TE is a silly experiment if you ask me.

Another questionable move by an inexperienced head coach. Maybe Ray Lewis or Ed Reed told Harbaugh to try it. Or maybe the new, younger version of Peter Angelos - Steve Bischotti - did it. Seems all of the sudden he knows football. Bischotti "made a living hiring guys with thin resumes (like Harbaugh)"...

It's good to see "Billick" still thinks he has to prove to everyone that he's the smartest guy in the room and that nothing is ever his fault. Maybe Ozzie should have asked YOU whether the top 3 TEs on the roster were going to be injured or not. How would billick put it... Well, we've established a process and we're just going to follow that process to it's logical conclusion and by doing so it will become self-evident what we need to do and when it does we'll address it at that time blah, blah, blah.

Tim,

In defense of "Billick", isn't it a given each year that Heap is going to be hurt? Wilcox was also hurt a majority of the year last year as well. The "saddest man" in the room - Ozzie - will miss the "smartest man in the room" as he no longer has him around to take all the hits for his bonehead moves.

Martin - I realize those guys are injured, but did anyone go into the offseason thinking, we *really* need to spend our valuable draft or cap resources to bring in yet another TE? This place would have lit up like christmas with complaints if he had drafted one or signed one for a free-agent deal given the other team needs and the scheduled recovery time on those guys.

And even if Ozzie has made mistakes (he certainly has) that doesn't mean billick was free of the majority of blame for the team's shortcomings of late.

(BTW: I'm surprised Tessendorf hasn't been thrown under the bus yet too.)

Tim,

Using your rationale, why did the Ravens spend their 2nd round pick on a running back?!?! I thought we had this self proclaimed "top 5 back in the league"? You know, the one who's so out of shape he can't play in the 4th quarter? The one who "parties" the night before a game and can't give it his all? That damned Billick brought in MacGahee, too!!! Oh, no that was Ozzie too...

Do you guys realize that a good TE is harder to find than a good OLB???

If he can play TE well we're going to be better off.

Mark my words, this time next year we'll all struggle to remember the name of the LB they tried to make a TE. He'll be pouring cement which will make him a more likely candidate to be picked up by the Ravens. Cement mixer to OL, linebacker to TE, Ozzie is a joke!
