More on Terry injury
Uh oh, the Ravens are in trouble. Left offensive tackle Adam Terry was already suspect for the upcoming season, but he was carted off the field with an ankle injury this morning. It was inevitable because Terry had been hobbling the entire training camp. He had surgery on the ankle during the offseason.
It doesn't appear likely Terry will return anytime soon, so the Ravens' already bad offensive line situation becomes even worse. Now starting at left tackle for the Ravens is Mike Kracalik, who has spent the past two seasons on the practice squad. And starting at right tackle is Oniel Cousins, a rookie out of UTEP who should be on the practice squad. If the Ravens have to start these two players, cancel Christmas. They'll be lucky to win three or four games.
You could tell general manager Ozzie Newsome was working the phones checking around the league for tackles. When he wasn't on his cell phone, he was on the field talking with coach John Harbaugh. I haven't seen Newsome on the field this much since his playing days. There isn't much out there left on the free agent market as far as tackles. The Ravens should have signed former Oakland Raider Barry Sims when he came to Baltimore to visit during the offseason. Sims signed with the San Francisco 49ers.

I think we need to write a long friendly letter to JO asking him for help. We gave him a nice long career & alot of money...how about helping the old ballclub out??? Start rehabbing that toe big fella !!!

Oh no Preston your boy Harbaugh winning 3 or 4 games In his first season that Is not good how long will the honeymoon last? Also when will you come up with a cute little name for his camp I have an Idea for you how about "Camp Injuries" or "Camp nothing In the tank In November and December.I am sure that you will come up with a name when he rubbs you the wrong way I can not wait for that.

I agree Ozzie missed the boat on Barry Sims. Typical Ozzie, though. For some mysterious reason, he has never given the offensive line the attention it deserves, always thinking he could get by with JO and a bunch of cast-offs and mid-round projects. Well, guess what - JO's not around any more, and anyone could have seen the need to bring in a veteran OT this offseason.

Hey Mike, Sims wanted to start and we could't promise him that, or did that memo not come across your desk?
Posted by: Brian | July 29, 2008 1:23 PM
No money for quality lineman , the prima-donnas are taking up all the cap money , not much left for the others , it comes under player management , it's Ozzies fault but he always gets a pass.......

Isnt LJ Shelton Available?

Isn't Gaither being projected as the LT? Looks like Grubbs and Brown will hold down the G positions while Gaither and probably Yanda start at tackle with Chester at center. Then Oniel Cousins could fill in wherever needed. We've spent enough picks on these guys so we may as well see what they've got. Then again, the coaching staff sees them everyday so Ozzies actions in the next week will give us all a STRONG indication as to how the organization feels about these guys. Only time will tell. Orlando Brown...you have a phone call....it's some guy named Ozzie. Boy is that revamped d-line in Cleveland gonna love us this year. We might even make Cincys D look decent and Pittsburgh, well I don't even wanna go there

"The Ravens should have signed former Oakland Raider Barry Sims when he came to Baltimore to visit during the offseason. Sims signed with the San Francisco 49ers"
You know this works both ways right?
Doesn't he have to want to come here too???Just wondering

If Terry is done⦠I am going
Gaither, Brown, Chester, Grubbs, Yanda
With Kracalik, Cousins, Hale in reserve.

My question is why was Terry practicing so much if he has been hobbling around for most of training camp??? I like Harbaugh's physical style camp, but its already taken a heavy toll.

Welcome to Camp Harbaugh.

We will have a hard hitting training camp but no one will be left to play

OZ is so over-rated.
Every year we have a serious depth issue somewhere and it burns us bad.
Last year corners.
running backs
QBs on and on

Starting offensive left tackle- Number 52 Ray Lewis

Shocking to see a tougher camp is creating more injuries before August.

Maybe the Orioles will produce a winner before the Ravens do. The immediate future does not look promising. Just why didn't they sign Sims? I thought it odd that they let him get away.
Posted by: Doug | July 29, 2008 3:24 PM
Didn't the Ravens try to sign Sims in the offseason? I know he signed with the 49'ers, but I thought the Ravens made the attempt at least.
"f" is for failing offensive line

Hopefully it is just scar tissue coming loose. I remember Todd Heap had scar tisse loosening once and went down like he had been shot, but was ok in a few days.

Hey Phil -Chester is too light to play NFL center. The plan was for him to bulk up so he didn't get blown up, but he hasn't. If you want to see one of our quarterbacks get hurt, put Chester in at center.
Posted by: Rage | July 29, 2008 3:57 PM
Quit whining about a Tough Camp - Guys get hurt, it's football. Even under Camp Cupcake guys went down to injury.

Harbaugh is in over his head...
Posted by: Rudy LasVegas | July 29, 2008 5:54 PM
Any truth that Adam Loewen is looking to play tackle?
Posted by: Rob L | July 29, 2008 6:07 PM
I'm under the impression that Brown is our center, not Chester. With Grubbs as the left guard and Yanda at right guard. We may end up having to move Yanda back to right tackle like he played last year, he did a decent job for a rookie...

Harbaughs camp should be called "Death Camp"
I think it has a nice ring to it.

All the money throwing away for some Div 2 QB when the ravens knew they needed help on the line!! Now look what has happen!!! You can get a backup QB. No line to protect the QB it won't matter who's playing becuase he will be running for his life or on his back! more time then not Boller & Flacco. troy has the abbility to avoid the danger but even he will be on his back. Wake up and spend on your needs.

Ozzie has never been the genius that built the ravens. Look at the talent, success and turn around in Cleveland. Phil was the genius that went out and scouted the talent. Ozzie was just the man that said yea or ney. We should have gave that general manager position to Phil Savage

It might be called Camp Disaster before it's all over,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I wonder if Biscoitti has a gut feeling too many of his players are getting hurt..........
Posted by: Jim from Dundalk | July 29, 2008 7:27 PM
We have a whole buncha youngins anyways Offensively, might as well let all of them OLs get into some action. We're a brand new team eh?? Let the rebuilding begin!!

No attention paid to the O-Line? Since when? TheRavens have been focusing on drafting O linemen forlike the past threeyears.Has it gone beyondfolks notice that we're not talking about problems with the interior line? That's becausethey'vebeen drafting those guys--Grubbs, Chester, Brown, Yanda. And Terry was pretty well regarded when they drafted him like three years ago or whenever it was when they drafted him as a LEFT tackle for JO's future replacement. I know everybody likes tojump on the Mike Preston Raven's critic bandwagon but you should try to get your facts straight. No team drafts O linemen high in the draft--except left tackles--in the NFL because with the salary cap you can't afford to do it. Instead, teams draft O linemen lower inthe draft--for better value--and focus on developing them, "coachin''em up" as it were. Sure it would have been nice to sign a veteran like Sims for added depth, but the Niners offered more and the Ravens were capped out. Simple. Being a journalist, Mike, I would have thought that it's part of your job to better people's understanding of issues by bringing out subtle facts, but I suppose I was mistaken.

I'm suprised you guys have'nt broke your legs jumping off the band wagon. Two weeks of practice of practice and you're already giving up. I remember 5 games no td's, AND A SUPER BOWL WIN! GO RAVENS. LETS PLAY THE SEASON FIRST.

Wow, and some of you call yourselves fans? This organization is in trouble if some of you have PSLs. How many of you sold them on Ebay already?

Lets just get through these injuries now...Its only July! Most of these will clear up before it counts
GO RAVENS!!!!!!!

When are you going to put the blame where it belongs, Preston? Oz, Oz, Oz, Oz and Oz. Where's Phil Savage when you need him?
Posted by: easywriter01 | July 29, 2008 10:45 PM
It just goes to show you what a few years of "Camp Creampuff" will do to a footbal team.
Posted by: royce | July 29, 2008 10:54 PM
will all of u stop whining, i dont don't know rather to get a glass or some chesse. Just wait for the season and please SHUT UP! U are acting like the whole world is over if they dont doing anything this season.
Posted by: kevin | July 29, 2008 11:14 PM
Anyone who thinks that these sorts of injuries wouldn't have occurred during the first preseason game against N.E. after yet another "Camp Creampuff" is delusional. It's the nature of the game. Get a clue.
The lack of depth along the O-line is another matter. We have potential replacements on D with Barnes or E Jones for Suggs, T Gooden for R Lewis. Because Ozzie prioritized those spots. Along the O-line, however, it's a different story. And that's the real story here. Years and years of neglecting the O-line, along with stupid decisions, like taking Flynn over Rabach, and not even making Pashos an offer "because there are plenty of RTs out there". Yeah, right. If there are so many RTs out there, go get one.

Just heard a radio interview with Farve in Miami--when asked about going to Ravens --he just laughed--"not only do they not have an offensive line--but who am i going to throw to--ask Moss why he did not want to go there!"
Posted by: eddie | July 30, 2008 12:35 AM
The injury to Terry points out what i just heard in a radio interview with Farve about coming to the Ravens--he laughed and added not with that offensive line --and who can i throw the ball to--they have no real deep threat--and then laughed again--How come Newsome can't see this?
