More on Sypniewski's injury
The second day of Ravens minicamp under new coach John Harbaugh produced the first injury: a possible serious knee injury to backup tight end Quinn Sypniewski.
Sypniewski, who became a starter last season when injuries sidelined Todd Heap and Daniel Wilcox, went down with about 30 minutes left in the two-hour workout. Sypniewski had caught a pass and was trying to avoid contact with linebacker Antwan Barnes.
After staying on the ground for a few minutes, Sypniewski was carted off.
It's not the type of thing you often see in what is supposed to be a non-contact workout, and though it appeared as if both Barnes and Sypniewski were trying to avoid contact, the high energy of the minicamp might have contributed to the situation.
Barnes said after the workout that he was trying to step away from Sypniewski, who twisted his left knee as he planted with his body going the other way. Sypniewski, who had his leg in a walking cast, told teammates that he might have injured both his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments.
Sypniewski, who didn't look happy with what had transpired, declined further comment.
"It does not look good,'' Heap said.

Add TE to the long list of needs. He started coming into his own. For a 3rd stringer I thought he did an admirable job.

Sorry for the kid -but better just before
the draft than just after. Things happen
for a reason, They don't have to make
sense. News Flash, Ravens trade up
for Ryan and go to first Super Bowl in
8 years.....Way to Go OZZIE & CREW !!

I certainly hope the Ravens do not draft Matt Ryan with the #8 pick. No offense against Matt, but his college stats do not suggest he will be a superior NFL QB. His college stats lag behind the college stats of the good NFL QB's in all of the following categories;
Completion %
Yds/Attempt
Yds/Completion
TD/Int ratio
Int %
This suggests a lower probability of him becoming a standout NFL QB.

He should'nt have been on a football field in april...these teams think because they pay these guys crazy amounts of money to play football that they need to and have the right to subliminally force these guys to attend pre minincamps and minincamps..... and more minicamps and in between camps, when in reality all this translates into is more opportunity for injury and burnout...the human body was not designed to play football...and you cant make a player better by overworking him with overkill camps...they should have more discretion and common sense with their high price investments.....july and august would more than suffice and limit the opportunities for injury....quality of instruction and coaching would make that amount of repitition more than sufficient....weight lifting and studying fine..... but risking injury in april .....ridiculous.

another thing to keep in mind is this may be Sypniewski's own fault - a lot of injuries happen when a player does not stay in good enough shape over the off season (strength training, flexibility training, and cardiovascular fitness), gets mini-camp and tries to make moves he made the previous season. this was most likely the case with McNair's injuries last season and other athletes like Shaq. these guys are pro-athletes, just like the rest of us go to work everyday, their job is to stay healthy, fit, and flexible.
