Post-Garrett work begins
With the news that Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has opted to remain in Dallas rather than take the Ravens head coaching position, the team is starting the process of moving forward.
Owner Steve Bisciotti pulled into his parking space at the team's headquarters in Owings Mills at approximately 2:28 p.m. despite the team closing its facility and telling many of its employees to go home to escape the snow outside.
Bisciotti is reconvening with general manager Ozzie Newsome, president Dick Cass, vice president of football administration Pat Moriarty, director of college scouting Eric DeCosta, director of pro personnel George Kokinis, assistant director of pro personnel Vince Newsome and senior vice president of public relations Kevin Byrne to discuss the Ravens' next plan of action. As my colleague Jamison Hensley reported earlier, that could entail a second interview for Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach John Harbaugh or a first interview for former San Diego Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer.

Get Harbaugh in here and hire him please! He's hungry for this job and now that he is officially the second choice, I think that will only motivate him. I believe he is a much better fit for this city than Garrett.

Wait unti NE Patriot season is over and interview/hire Josh McDaniels who has a better chance of being the future hall of Fame coach that Steve Biscotti was looking for than Jason Garrett. I know that he has Tom Bradsy and Randy Moss to work with but he is an offensive mastermind and come up with a diverse set of plays in his playbook

Have we even tried to pursuade Cower or Singletary? These men are proven leaders, winners, and will not stand for the "I" players, but require unity!

There ya go Mike! Now explore the possibilites. Maybe analyze them? Your opinion on how bad the Head Coaching market is right now?

I 'd bet Marty will be coming through the front or back door any day now. Its the only option that is not a high risk move and really makes any sense.

Hire Marty Now... and get rid of the Primadonnas. Get control of the locker room and stop all these nonsense radio talk shows that talk about the me factor and not the TEAM.
Hire Harbaugh as a Defensive Coordinator.
Hire Marty NOWWWWWWW.....

Well I have to admit I was pleasently suprised to see Garrett NOT come to B-more. I honesty didn't for a second believe he was the right choice. He proved that.
I have no problem with anyone trying to get everything they can coming in the door, but; it's pretty clear it was more of a chess game for Garrett.
Who cares. I'm glad - now Bisciotti will be forced to look for a "COACH", instead of a pretty boy(IVY league type)
Bisciotti this is a blue collar town if that bugs you buy a team somewhere else PLEASE...... I've heard others on this board lament their fears that he is just another Angelos. I'm starting to believ it.
Give Rex a one year contract and let's get down to business.......

I'm thinking that taking the Raven's head coach job will be a challenge. The rest of the AFC North has retooled into a pass attack form for an offensive and the Ravens need to catch up. This ball control mentality isn't going to lead to success in this division.
There are three types of coaches, builders, implementers and a combination of both.. For example, Marty S of San Diego builds the team and Norv T implements his results. Ray Perkins builds the Giants and Bill Parcells implements the results. Bill Cowher both builds and implements for Pittsburgh. Same for B. Billick. B Billicheck both builds and implements now, but a few years ago was implementing what B Parcells had built.
The question probably posed to the candidates is: What can you bring to the table? I can see any coach looking for quick success as being disinterested (implementer type). I can see members of the coaching elite that would make a commitment in terms of instituting a team philosophy thats compatible with winning the AFC North as desireable.
I'm in favor of a builder first, but if a demonstrated successful builder-implementer is available, then consider it. By the way, builders tend to be blue collar types and aren't flamboyant. They also dont like to give too much power up to the front office and need extensive buy-in on player selection.
Perhaps Mr. Garrett saw that he would not have much power and the front office and owner were planning on assuming larger roles.

Here's a great idea. Lets give the job to Marty S. and see if he will accept John Harbaugh as his D Coordinator and heir apparent since Schottenheimer is 64 years old. Then we could be like Jerry Jones but with class.

Unfortunately Bisciotti wants to hire a pretty boy new age management type. PR is everything. Bisciotti is going to ruin the Ravens. Why are we interviewing all these totally inexperienced coaches. Lets hire a coach who can win, one who can control out prima donna crybaby players. We've played too many games at less than full intensity. We need a tough coach who will put Ray Lewis and co. in their place,
