Billick appears on HBO

In his first interview since being fired as coach of the Ravens, Brian Billick talked about his future on "Inside the NFL" on HBO.

"Right now, I'm just going to go back skiing when I'm done here. I know that's very short-term," Billick said. "It is a transition for me. I'm kind of excited about the future for what it holds. But right now, we'll just see what comes our way.

"I love this game. I'm not going to get too far away from it in any capacity that I have. It's in my blood. Once it's in your blood, it's hard to get away from."

So, does that mean Billick plans to coach again?

"Yeah, it's one of those things, right circumstance, right situation," he said. "We're all lying because when one is offered, you usually take it. But I'm old enough that I can be a little more discerning."

Glad to see Brian. He looked and sounded very well. As bad as he was as a couch he was the coach in the most exciting superbowl season of 2000. He has to be given his due: The Ravens brought respect back to Baltimore. And they did it quick. Thank You!

If Billick does decide to coach again, he'd better make sure Randy Moss is on his team's roaster, 'cause he aint jack without him.

This is why I am glad he is gone. You can't get a straight answer from this guy. Stop being so pulic relations-minded and just answer an honest question with an honest answer. Stop over-thinking everything and start being more accessible- maybe then people would actually look forward to what you have to say.

This sounds like a slight. Nobody asked him to quantify all his choices. And on age ? I have taken a sigh of relief after 9 seasons, and I wish him well.

Billicks awesome. I'll miss him. He would make a great NFL tv analyst

Now this is his arena....this is where he can shine like no other...add him to Merril Hoagie Hodge and Mark Schlereth and theyl be the greatest group of football experts without credability or substance in the history of the universe....theyl sound grrrrreeaat!

I will always appreciate the great job Brian did in Baltimore, and wish only the best for him

God bless Brian Billick. I was glad that he was fired but he should always be respected for what he did for Baltimore. I wish him nothing but the best and hope that he has more success in the future.

I still think fans placed too much blame on Brian and not enough on the lack of talent. It was a tough year, but the venting snowballed out of control. I also blame the certain radio personalities (& Sun reporters) for fueling the fire. Brian was the winningist coach in Baltimore football history. He won a Super Bowl and made Baltimore proud. I will miss him as I feel he deserved another year to turn this team around.

I think Curley's Pub in Dundalk is looking for a new head coach for their flag football team. Then again, it is a passing league so Billick probably isn't qualified!!!

Please let me know when and where Brian gets a new gig, so we can foreward his baggage - Kyle B. Thank You !!!!

I like the way Billick talks, he speaks above the "DUMB JOCK" level and I actually don't feel stupid after he says something, I can't say that after I read news papers, message boards, and listen to sports talk radio. I laugh every time someone says something about the way he talks, it only exposes them as uneducated Baltimore scum that's predominate in the sports arena. I'll be a fan of whatever team he ends up with, even if they play the Ravens. He's a class act and Baltimore sports dropped quite a few notches when he was fired, if that is at all possible.

Billick was one of the best coaches. He will be missed in Baltimore. He brought a great offense, and a winning mentality to the team.

Thank you Coach.B he took a loser of a organization and turned It Into a winner. NO ONE In Baltimore cared about the Ravens before 1999 until he took them to the super bowl and made them a winner. People In town said f the Ravens and they need to move back to Cleveland and It Is because of Brian that the team has a strong fan base. People FORGET but I did not thank you coach people HATED the Ravens In 1999 now they have mad love and It Is because of you sir.

Billick has gotten a bum rap. What impressed me more (about his HBO appearance) than anything was his knowledge of defense and defensive game planning.

As for his Baltimore tenure, the feats he accomplished with the likes of Anthony Wright, Jeff Blake, Trent Dilfer, and past-his-prime Steve McNair reflect good coaching to me.

It may have been time for a new coach, but even Vince Lombardi or Bill Belichik would have finished below .500 with the Ravens' injuries this year.

Not one team that marched into this years playoffs did so without their starting QB at the helm, except the Redskins who were one-and-done. By contrast, the Ravens were pitching their 3rd string QB by the end of the season.

Billick was great on the HBO set, much better than Jimmy Johnson, Shannon Sharpe, or Dan Marino. Nine (9) years, a Super Bowl, and three other playoff season appearances gives him quite a bit of fresh, current insight into the NFL.

I think Billick's real high might have been 2002. Fielding the youngest team in NFL history he managed to miss the playoffs by a combined 4 points (the last 2 weeks of the season - Browns came back down 13-0 to win 14-13 week 16 and Jeff Blake threw an interception from the goal line to lose to Pittsburgh 34-31 week 17). Say what you want about Billick, but he was a winner. Not too many coaches go 9 seasons with 18 more wins than losses. I think he'll definitely get that "right" chance in the not-too-near future and I'll definitely wish him the best.

I like Billick, but was one that felt like this organization needed a change. However, it was really good to see him on HBO last night. He would be a great analyst. CBS, PLEASE FIRE COWHER and bring in Billick.

I wish him all the best of luck!

Why continue to bash Brian? He did get fired and I, like many, many others want to thank him for the Super Bowl Championship, and a whole lot of winning! Thank you Brian Billick, coaches and players!

I'm no expert but I liked Billick a lot, and he probably deserved better (but understandably, some times you make changes for the sake of change). I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Brian had 9 good years in Baltimore with many memorable games. He had to deal with a lot of issues and handled them well. i would like to see him honored next year during a half time game with the Steelers and let the fans express their thanks. It would be fitting and the fans never got a chance to say good-bye and best wishes.

Billick made me proud to be a Ravens fan.....I dont trust the FO anymore...after Bisciotti's flip-flop. Good luck Billck....you have a future fan in waiting. Thanks for all the great years of hard work, tireless dedication, and the way you stood up for Ray against the media superbowl day in 2001 is something I will NEVER FORGET!

My hopes and best wishes go out to you Coach Billick.

Take what you can get Billick. Coaching the Pasadena Cub Scouts would work,

to rich....billick won a super bowl without randy moss on the roster...billick has a winning record in baltimore without randy moss on the roster...he is an excellent head coach who had a very successful run here in baltimore and always represented himself, our team, and our city with the utmost dignity and class. like all head coaching positions in all sports, you are hired to be fired, and the powers that be decided that it was time for a change...only time will tell if that was the right decision. was he perfect, of course not. but the numbers are the numbers and they say that he was successful, as does that big ring on his finger. thanks for everything coach, and best of luck in your future

Billick was a good coach in the beginning. Success begat arrogance. He became the players friend instead of their coach and lost all control of the team when he became as arrogant, self centered and a poor sport when things didn't go his way. It was the officiating. In the end, he and his teams actions were an embarassment

I was conflicted when the Ravens fired him, and I'm still conflicted. I respect Brian for winning here in Baltimore but the Ravens players and fans were ready for a change. I hope he does well in his next position and I hope the new coaching staff takes us back to the playoffs.

to George from Pasadena...
Amen Brother. Amen.

good riddance to bad "billick" rubbish!

I loved Brian as a coach, I thought he did a great job!

Go Browns!

Billick was about as articulate and intelligent as any coach I've ever seen- and he took entirely too much blame for the problems this season. One call here, one fumble there- and the season could have turned on a dime. Instead- he takes the fall for some calls that didnt work out- whereas had the players "executed" better- he'd have been called a genius.

Billick was a great coach in Baltimore and all the haters who throw barbs and disrespect him only show their own ignorance.
