Monday: Off the field

Every Ravens player with injury concerns was present during the portion of practice open to the media today.

The biggest concern literally -- 6-foot-9, 345-pound offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden -- stretched and took part in individual drills with the rest of the offensive line. At one point, Ogden, who has been sidelined the entire preseason by a hyperextended toe on his left foot, lined up next to left guard Jason Brown, and the pair attacked reserves Ikechuku Ndukwe and Mike Kracalik during a blocking drill.

Three starters who did not play in the team's preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons last Friday -- free safety Ed Reed (bruised thigh), cornerback Samari Rolle (sprained ankle) and wide receiver Mark Clayton (sprained ankle) -- appeared to practice at full speed. Clayton was the only one of the three who had the injured area taped.

Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata still has his bruised left knee wrapped and taped, while rookie guard Ben Grubbs had his right knee wrapped. Quarterback Kyle Boller, who injured his right knee against the Falcons, bounced around without wrap or tape around his knee. Finally, tight end Daniel Wilcox (sprained ankle) took part in a few individual drills without his helmet before jogging off the field with trainer Bill Tessendorf.

On a side note, a couple players wore new numbers. Rookie quarterback Troy Smith shed his No. 11 jersey for No. 10, which was worn by Drew Olson. And undrafted rookie Edgar Jones ditched No. 64 for No. 91.
