Donnie Henderson

Former Ravens secondary coach Donnie Henderson is expected to visit the Ravens at minicamp today, and then meet with head coach Brian Billick and general manager Ozzie Newsome. It's not known if the meetings are business related, but there is always the possibility the Ravens could offer Henderson a job as a consultant like they did with Jim Fassel several years ago. Henderson resigned as the Lions defensive coordinator at the end of last season because of differences with Detroit head coach Rod Marinelli. He was the secondary coach in Baltimore from 1998 through 2003. Henderson also might become a candidate to replace current Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan if Ryan gets a head coaching job at the end of this season. Newsome has great respect for Henderson. Ryan also likes Henderson and there was speculation Ryan might have hired Henderson as his defensive coordinator if he had gotten the Chargers job several months ago. Henderson is still under contract with the Lions.

I'd like to see Donnie as a consultant or assistant DB coach. His first task can be teaching Egg Rolle how to actually show up and play hard this season instead of mailing in his coverage assignments like last year.

Been waiting for this.

I am not sure how this would be taken right now, but on a personal level I would love to see Donnie Henderson as our secondary coach this season. What can be said about the job that Henderson did when he was here, was that the secondary maintained its intensity and was fundamentally sound on a consistent basis. We have some young corners in the making in the form of Ronnie Prude(whom I really like) and others that could use his expertise, because you get the sense that Rolle cannot go much longer. I also feel, that being the hardnosed intensity that he is, Henderson may have got on Reed's case a bit quicker about peaking into the backfield and leaving Rolle to dry on alot of those deep balls. After seeing Reed own Peyton Manning in that unfortunate lost in the playoffs, I am convinced that there is not a quarterback or quarterback/reciever tandem that can throw over top of Ed Reed IF and ONLY IF he plays the Free Safety position the way that it is supposed to be played.

If Donnie Henderson can bring some discipline to the Ravens' secondary ..namely McAlister and Reed, I'm all for it!!

whatever... BRING ON KEYSHAWN!!!!!!!! ravens SB 2008!!!

Bringing back Donnie in any capacity is definitely a plus for the team. I don't know if a consultant position would help or constrain his influence on the defense, specifically the secondary, but his record here is proven. It'll be great to see him back in the family.

Can't wait to start picking off 3-4 per game against Quinn twice a year...

All for it. Love it. Bring him on in here. Aint no WAY Sir Ryan stays w/ us after this season unless he is handed Billick“s job ... Get him in here, keep him in here! We need this guy.

Let him get in here and learn ryans defense so he can be his replacment after rex gets his well earned head coaching gig.He could help develop some of these young corners so if there are problems with rolle again we have a replacment,
