Rex Ryan
It was nice to see the Ravens give defensive coordinator Rex Ryan an additional year on his contract. Ryan most likely won't be around after next season, but at least the Ravens gave him something for having the NFL's best defense in 2006. Plus, if he doesn't get hired as a head coach, at least he is under contract and can't leave to take another job as another team's defensive coordinator. Plus, Ryan admitted to being antsy about not having the second year. The Ravens are at least attempting to take care of business and not trying to have a divided locker room in 2007. Next up, Terrell Suggs.

Anyone got any idea why the Ravens would keep Brian Billick but let Rex Ryan go coach someplace else?

It'll be like when the Chargers kept Schotty for an extra month too long and lost Cam Cameron. I understand Billick is a good motivator and organizer, but the playcalling was inexcusable against the Colts.
Did anyone ever look at the stats and notice that even in the playoffs the Colts were giving up over 5 yards a carry to the outsides. So the inside closed up, if any of the four coaches that lost to the Colts had committed to an off tackle running game they would have gotten some 200+ yards and won. Even Legend Boy Belichick didn't fall on his backs when he should have, and Lovie Smith needs to check Thomas Jones' statistics prior to when he inexplicably handed the ball to Rex while the Bears were still leading the game.
