Randy Moss

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome had just finished talking about Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith when a Sun reporter asked him about Randy Moss joining the New England Patriots and coach Bill Belichick: "It's the perfect storm," said Newsome. "You have a great quarterback already and then you add guys like (Donte') Stallworth and Moss, you got a pretty good combination. Bill and Randy are going after a Super Bowl. I don't foresee them having any problems working together."

Merriweather and Moss.

It seems NE is exempt to Roger Goodells "Good Guy" policy.

The patriots will definitely be the #1 contender for the superbowl. Its quite scary to think how Tom Brady will do with good wideouts for the first time in his career. Adalius Thomas was also a huge signing for them.

The pat's certainly set themselves up to make a strong push at the super bowl, but with every team in the league now looking at New England with the same thoughts it will be interesting to see how it pan's out. Evey team is now looking at them as the team to beat to make it to the big dance.

Hmmm i remember the Redskins adding proven veterans like they were buying socks at the thrift store. The problem is used socks that look never worn ususally bring some sort of fungus with them. Good luck in NE and good luck to NE.

Don't believe the hype folks! The game is played between the white lines in the trenches. No matter how many different ways you disguise it, a duck is still a duck. There is nothing about the Patriots' uniform, franchise, etc. that will make Randy Moss play football any differently than he has in recent years. He will still play selfishly and lazy on the field and do selfish things off of it as well. The only reason he did well early in Minnesota is because of the leadership in the players he had around him but even then his true character still surfaced. The Patriots are beginning to remind me of the Deadskins..compiling an all-star team with few role players. They will end up with too too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

I think I'll listen to Ozzie instead of Bacon, thank you. The Pats are gearing up for a major SB push. They aren't anything like the Redskins. First of all, Brady can outperform Brunell and Campbell put together. Second, Belichick and his staff can outcoach even the HOFer Gibbs and his "too many cooks spoil the broth" coaching staff. And finally, there aren't any Adam Archulettas in the mix up there either.

But still...on any given Sunday...

It'll be exciting to play the Pats at M&T in the regular season. The same with Indy. We are going to be tested more this year than in 2006/2007, but hey...that's what it's all about -- playing the best; trying to beat the best on the way to becoming the best. Come on, NFL 2007!

And...in the event that all that fails for the Ravens...we can roll out our newest secret weapon...

Cullen Finnerty...QB out of GVSU that we just signed.

"As a senior quarterback, Finnerty became the winningest quarterback in NCAA history for all divisions, with a career record as a starting quarterback of 51-4, and he was named to the 2006 American Football Coaches Association All America Team . Finnerty also earned Daktronics First Team All American honors. He finished the 2006 GVSU season with a 15-0 record, completing 195 of 343 passes for 3,220 passing yards and 41 touchdowns, and leading the nation in quarterback efficiency with 169.32. Finnerty also rushed for 580 yards and 8 touchdowns himself, totalling 3,800 offensive yards and 49 touchdowns on the season, for an average offense of 253.3 yards per game . Finnerty was awarded second place for the Harlon Hill Trophy award, just prior to the NCAA Div II national championship match in Florence, Alabama. In the title match versus Northwest Missouri State University, Finnerty completed 15-of-33 passes for 225 yards and rushed for 115 yards on 22 carries for 340 yards of total offense, passing for one TD and running for another. Finnerty became the first quarterback in NCAA Div. II Championship game history to pass for over 200 yards and also rush for over 100."

It's reported that Moss ran a 4.29 40-yard dash for the team before signing; that's pretty impressive at his age and size. Will he do that every play? Of course not, but he's a threat. I think Belichick loaded the shelves this offseason for a one or two year run before retiring. They now have two longball threats (for the first time) and Ben Coates will benefit by running through open lanes. They're stacked and will be a serious contender, barring the injury bug.
