Vic Fangio

If Vic Fangio replaces Rex Ryan as the Ravens defensive coordinator, it will be a major adjustment for the players as far as personality. Fangio is a Billick clone, a very smart man who has a no nonsense approach. He's stiff. On the other hand, Ryan was loose and personable. His meetings were very lax, downright informal. Fangio might try to bring a military approach, which the players don't want. There will have to be a middle ground. - Mike Preston

That defense has remained consistent under alot of different coaching styles..they'll be OK. Besides, the defensive side of the ball is not what lost that playoff game!

This blog makes it seem almost like a foregone conclusion that Ryan is getting the Chargers job. From the national columns I've been reading, he is just one of 5 candidates, including several "frontrunners" that don't include Ryan. He's definitely earned it and I wish him the best, but for my own selfish reasons hope he stays.

Personally, I have a bad feeling about Rex Ryan being a Head Coach. But my reasons for thinking that are probably more selfish than I'd like to admit. I hope he stays too.

I'd love to see Rex Ryan get a coaching job at some point. He's paid his dues and knows how to connect with players. Plus he's probably more qualified then half the coaches in the league. However, its the middle of February. The Chargers should have made their move about 4-5 weeks ago. The scouting combine and the draft are coming up as is the free agent season. I'm sure planning for next year is already well under way. Its a bit late in the game to be replacing assistant coaches, especially if Billick brings in an outsider.

Looks like big Rex will be back, Norv Turner has been hired by SD.
