Lewis update
Middle linebacker Ray Lewis is still having some discomfort in his back, and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Lewis has missed the past two games and hasn't participated in a full practice for almost three weeks. The Ravens were optimistic about Lewis playing this week, but now have a wait and see approach.

I really hope this doesn't become a repeat of 2005 or 2002 when every week we had to hold our breath to see whether or not Ray played. If the guy is going to miss time, just tell us and stop beating around the bush. If he really is day-to-day than be clear about it. What annoys me and probably a lot of other fans is that this injury is quickly replicating the one Ray had last year. At first we thought it was just a bump or a pull, than he misses a game, than another and another.......suddenly Ray needs season ending surgery for what we all thought was just a minor injury.
If Ray is going to miss signifigant time, he should show his hand and allow Jarret Johnson to focus on the starting MLB role. Instead we have another three ring "Ray Lewis" injury circus just like 2005.

As a 30 year old Steeler fan, started watching NFL at age 5 shortly after Steeler dynasty crumbled. In some 25 years of objective following, Ray Lewis is the 2nd best defender of any position in the last 25 years only behind LT.I saw an SI blog that has Urlacher in the top 10 and not Lewis. Lets look at facts. As the ringleader of the Bears defense, in 2 playoff losses (both at Soldier Field), 33 and 29 points were surrendered to the Eagles and Panthers respectively.Lewis's leadership in the playoffs I am sure you all know. If and when my Steelers are mathematically out, I will wish your Ravens the best. Unlike the Bengals, you've always let your actions speak on the field. I want to also add Mr. Preston provides as objective of analysis as any big city reporter in quite sometime. He doesn't rush to judgment and is very fair without being euphoric or unjust towards any given player or game. Realistically, due to the cap and age of key components, this is probably your best shot at another super bowl. As an objective Steeler fan, the Chargers seem like a tougher obstacle than the Colts come January. May be better off facing the Colts in my opinion due to their soft defense and Manning's propensity to underachieve in January. Chargers if healthy look scary on both sides of the ball. Best strategy for the Ravens offense is diversify the running attack with 60% Lewis and 40% Anderson. Worked pretty well in 2000 with Lewis and Holmes splitting carries.

Patrick, the Ray Ray Circus is not to confuse the fan, but the team that they are playing against. Would you prefer the other team be able to game plan knowing he has no chance to play, just so you can have a little peace of mind?
