Kyle Boller
Backup Kyle Boller will get more extensive practice time, but it won't come until next week. Head coach Brian Billick said the Ravens are close to the point of the season where the backup gets more practice time, but starter Steve McNair will get more than usual because of the concussion he suffered against the Carolina Panthers. Next week, McNair will take the bulk of the practice snaps on Wednesday and Thursday, and Boller will get his on Friday.

It's a great idea to get Kyle Boller more reps with the first team as the season nears it's midway point because history suggests that he'll be needed both because of Steve's history of injuries and the chances of needing your backup at some point during the season. I think this is neccesary because most NFL teams need two good quarterbacks to be successful. We have teo average ones but it is still better than at least 10 teams have combined in the AFC and if you do the math that means playoffs. We are not perfect as well as the other 16 teams in our conference. The Colts have a great quarterback but they haven't won a Superbowl. The math is simple and it all begins at the quarterback position. Indy has one great quarterback that falters in the playoffs and he blames his lineman for losing. If he were lost where would Indy be? The phrase "any given Sunday" is said for a reason, anything can happen in a game. mike ask yourself one question. In a playoff game between the Ravens and the Colts who would you trust if the starter was hurt? baltimore's backup or Indy's? Anything can happen in a game and I think we have a more than capable backup. I've written to this blog before and I respect your opinions and I read your articles in the Sun because even though I disagree with your approach I respect that you say it like it is. I have a prediction and I would appreciate if you would write about it if it happens. the Ravens will make the playoffs and win the Superbowl behind the two headed monster at quarterback. You heard it here first.

What the hell is this, a 'Preston' Boller blog without a disparaging remark?? Unheard of!

I think after the looming debacles against the Saints and Bengals, Kyle Boller will be getting all the snaps in practice!

And this is newsworthy how? Who cares what Boller does anyway? This guy has been treated like golden boy and given every opportunity under the sun and still can't cut it.
Nobody that I know would have an ounce of faith in this clown other than to lose a game. He got two lucky fluke TD passes last week and now he's newsworthy? Gimme a break. There is no QB contraversy in Baltimore period.

If Billick is calling the plays and looking for a QB to throw the ball vertically, it doesn't take a rocket scientist on picking which QB to play. We've already seen some good flashes out of KB. Count the numbers of starts, age, and recent performances (which includes the conclusion of last year). Talk about the browns game all you want, but he gave his all there. MOST QB's don't put up 3td games 3 times in a row except mcnabb and manning. KB has shown what he can do and lets have some faith in him..Swallow your pride Preston !

If McNair isn't up to the game, they should go to KB. McNair doesn't seem to have the mobility to deal with a leaky line and he has not shown any vertical game at all. KB is young and has a future in this game. God with KB if McNair doesn't produce and see what the kid can do! He can't do worse than McNair of late.

It is a pleasure to see the Ravens throw down field against the Saints. This is the first time I have seen the Ravens forsake the limited Kyle Boller (KB) average 6 yard passing attempt offense (please check the NFL stats) for real NFL football. Think about it. Under Kyle Boller the Ravens were try to protect possesion of the football. Under Steve McNair they are trying to win NFL games. It became glaringly obvious that KB is not the future of the Ravens so, why is he still taking up space with the Ravens.... There is no doubt in my mind that the fans who would want to see KB practice with the first team, still believes that Iraq is not the fault of G. W. Bush and hopes Bush will be vindicated in the end.
J. Lewis had a great game with the Saints. However, on many occasions I saw that Lewis would have gained an additional one to three yards had he been able to changed directions like his backup running backs. Lewis can't see the defense, read the defense or cut and slash through the defense. So he is committed to spending more time in the back field stutter stepping and running directly ahead into well rested defensive arms. If I was a defensive linebacker, I would love to see Lewis carrying the ball. I would never have to leave the field to get my breath. The backup running backs are so much better than Lewis in just about all facets of the game. They catch better and run after the catch a lot better. They spread and exhaust the defense better. The day that Lewis sits the bench for a whole game is the the day that the Ravens rushing yards will almost double. Lewis ineptness in the back field is hurting the QB position.
