Last of Kyle Boller
Haven't we gone through this before? Last year, Boller had a couple of good games against the NFC Comedy Central, and all these supporters were talking about how he turned the corner. Kyle is a backup, No. 2. When he becomes a starter again, we'll chat. Actually, I take that back. I don't want to talk about Kyle Boller ever again regardless if he wins the Super Bowl, or trips over his feet again. In this town, we're so used to talking about quarterbacks that we talk about them when there isn't a controversy. Billick has moved on. Fassel has moved on. The players have moved on. I'm moving on. Let it rest, man.

Comments
It has been clear that Boller is not ready for a starting job yet, and doesn't have the awareness to really be a good starting QB yet. However, Boller has shown some potential in a few outings. With McNair already in his mid-thirties, do you think the Ravens will consider drafting another QB in the next couple of years, or will they try to continue to develop Boller into possibly someday becoming a successful QB?

Mike,
A Quote from the previous blog entry.
"As for the boo-boo in clock management at the end of the first half, it has to be offensive coordinator Jim Fassel's fault because he calls the plays inside the red zone. Right?"
Is this a example of moving on. ?? Anyhow I agree that we all need to quit talking about Boller , Fassel , Billick and concentrate on what happens on the field.

What i cant believe is that you are still finding a way to criticize boller after last nights performance. Not only did he average about 30 yards per pass, but he also completed around 60 percent of those passes behind the very impressive second string O-line. Oh and, NEWS FLASH: Savior Mcnair is the one who "tripped over his feet" and fumbled last night so cleary that problem goes deeper Kyle Bollers "backup" talent. Get a life and stop picking on the guy, especially since hes only "No.2"

You're moving on from Kyle Boller? Thanks goodness.
How does the FO feel about Terry and Chester so far?

Mike,
If McNair goes down, do you foresee ________ as remaining the backup, or do you think the Ravens would go out and grab Kerry Collins? It seems from your comments the players are aware that _________ doesn't have what it takes to win consistently, and their attitudes last seaon reflected that. With the positive vibes flowing this year, it seems it could all be ripped away with one play if __________ is forced back into the starter slot...

Let's see now, a couple blogs before you said you weren't gonna talk about Boller. You just can't help yourself to talk about your former 'boy'.
Posted by: Ed | August 19, 2006 9:59 AM
This is typical. Boller plays well and you dont want to talk about him. You see the signs that Boller may turn into a legit QB so your planting the seed so you dont have to write about him when he plays well...

interesting you didn't mind ripping him for a bad game last week. but this week he plays very well. QB rating in the 140's. and now you dont' want to talk about Klye anymore. You are a big man.

I have no idea what you're talking about. You're the only one who keeps bringing him up. Three unnecessary blog posts in the past two weeks, when as you say, there is no controversy to talk about. We respond because we're tired of you beating this dead horse; finally you get it. Took you long enough.

That is funny Preston. If you can't talk about Kyle what would you have to say? I guess you would then fill your blog and articles about some riff that you caused between you and Billick or some other "issues" that are developing in the locker room rather than give insight into football and the Ravens. I guess Kyle will be a topic in later articles you author. That way you will not have to work hard to construct a meaningful piece of journalism.

Amen Mike. Boller is the sole reason the Ravens have been so bad on offense the last few years. He is the main reason Ray wanted to leave town. There is no logical reason that he is even a #2 on this team. Oh, i forgot how nice of a guy he is and we should all give him a break. Screw Boller. The next time i see him under center for the Ravens will be too soon.

Bout time Mike, I think that we are all ready to put the Boller experience behind us, But I'm sure it will all come back up when he is shredding 2nd string defenses in mop up duty, Air Mcnair= Playoffs

So, does the Sun realize how few people like Mike Preston, his writing "abilities," his inability to let things go, his seeming insistance on ripping people no matter what they do...
Does the Sun actually realize this, or do they just not care?

Y'all need to back off Mike on Kyle Boller. Boller is the back up. He was handed the job three years ago -- by a coach who staked his reputation and team on it -- and did everything possible to lose it.
Let him prove to Baltimore that he can step up...2 years from now.

Preston is right on, people in this town really are delusional if they think boller will ever become a "legit" quarterback in this league. When Jeff Tedford designs plays for you in college where you only have to scan half the field, you are most likely going to have an unsuccessfull NFL career as Boller has had thus far. The denial that exists amongst Boller apologists is scary.

I guess you can't handle thinking up new info for a daily blog...even when you say you won't talk about Kyle Boller, you manage to make him the sole topic again...you should cover another team or another city

I am guessing that you not talking about Boller is just another one of your printed lies.

Gotta love the clowns who keep reading this blog and trash Mike for being biased. I guess none of you have noticed that Mike has been right about 95 percent of the topics he writes on. You can't believe he keeps trashing Billick? Everyone knows Billick lost the team last year, and almost his job because of it. Mike said it first. His analysis on Boller has always been fair, any non biased fan will tell you that Boller hasn't played well enough to keep his starting job, and is a respectable back up. I can respect Boller as a good teammate, but if after four years you still think he's a starting QB on a good team you're out of your mind. If you want to read a soft, powder-puff opinion go read the team website, Mike only reports the things that matter.

I find it funny that one illiterate "columnist" who stakes his reputation on bashing a guy continues to bash a guy even after a good game. Sorry...you are taking the "high road", because you are now stopping the continuous onslaught...well at least until his next poor performance...right Mikey? Are you not man enough to admit when someone plays well? At least not Boller, right? What up with Ray, was that Ray who got run over? Cause Ray is your boy right? Why did you not call out McNair when he tripped over his feet...oh wait its McNair...not Boller...so that must have been a figment of my imagination. Stop being a bigot. Any decent columnists can recognize a good performance...not..."Oh...its time to move on."

_______ is still a BUM! ______ Can't play! I wish we could cut _______ and pick op somebody else. No coach in the league would have given ________ four years to develop as a quarterback. Billick is the only silly prick that gives bums a chance to develop. In fact, if a team hired a former NFL head coach to give me one on one tutoring, give me four years to develop, make excuses for me everytime I tripped over my feet, then hell, I think I could complete a few passes too!
Posted by: MIke | August 21, 2006 7:23 PM
Boller is not a baby...he is a man. WE NEED TO STOP MAKING THESE SORRY EXCUSES FOR A GROWN MAN!
Posted by: MIke | August 21, 2006 7:25 PM
OK, so if you could only keep two quarterbacks, would you keep Boller or St. Pierre?
Posted by: Scott | August 25, 2006 11:29 AM
We'll see when Boller can have 4 decent games in a row, and then we'll call him a good quarterback. He is just another failed prospect from the Tedford quarterback system. All the arm strength does not account for some of the poor decisions and horrible passes last year. There was more than one occasion where his poor decision making forced turn overs and made things difficult for the defense. That being said, he'll be an OK backup QB. But if McNair is injured, then our playoff hopes are pretty much gone.

Mike,
I'm glad you've moved on. How much you want to bet after yesterday's game where Kyle had a delay of game and a fumble (that he recovered) you can't help yourself.
I got money says he's mentioned this week in a column.
By the way, I saw your grades this week. I guess it requires at least 45 points for the QB to get a B-
