Devard Darling

It will be interesting to see how Devard Darling plays Friday night against the Vikings. He has a habit of having strong preseason games, or several spectacular catches, and then he disappears. He certainly has the tools. He's not super fast, but has decent speed. He's got good size, and certainly has good hands. But just like Clarence Moore, he can disappear from an offense and drop easy passes that hit him in his hands. It's a good matchup with him and rookie Demetrius Williams competing for the No. 3 receiver spot. Williams gives the Ravens what they desperately need, a constant vertical threat. But he lacks experience, and like most rookies, will probably tire down the backstretch of the season.

Mike,

What's going on with Ward's migranes and Clarence Moore not playing this camp? Are these players done with the Ravens and an injury settlement is in there future?

Hopefully the days of inconsistency at WR for the Ravens are long gone. The days where Ron Johnson and Travis Taylor took turns to see who could drop a ball the most...hopefully the days of WRs being scared to go across the middle like Clarence Moore are gone too.

What happened to the young man, whose name escapes me, who was a quarterback in college and has been around for several years, who seemed to be developing at WR? He could go up and get the ball. Seemed to have some Randy Moss kind of abilities.. Where is he? Gone?

What in the world are you talking about.

Maybe you are thinking of Ron Johnson because Darling has never had more than 2 catches in a game...preseason or regular season and I don't think any went for longer than 7 or 8 yards.

Johnson was the guy who made spectacular catches and had 100 yard recieving games in the preseason.

Sparky that wide reciever was Randy himes. What happened to him?

Sparky, the reciever was Randy Hymes. He was a quarterback at Grambling. He left in the offseason and signed a contract with the Jaguars.

Hymes was signed as a Free Agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It's funny because now Travis Taylor is likely going to have a somewhat more important role with the Vikings now without Koren Robinson.

I seriously am wondering when Darling is going to live up to his third round draft choice. However, I don't really see it too likely after all this time. And no, cleanup duty against second string defenders last week doesn't really cut it. Demetrius Williams has shown potential over this past preseason and training camp though.
