Duquette's news conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday; his title is executive vice president
The Orioles will host the Dan Duquette news conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Warehouse, it has been announced.
Duquette, 53, will be introduced as the executive vice president of baseball operations.
I was asked whether that means he’ll have less say and less power than Andy MacPhail, who was president of baseball operations.
My quick take: The Orioles’ titles mean very little. Duquette will be GM and the top executive of the club. MacPhail was the GM and top executive of the club.
MacPhail came in as president partially because the executive vice president title was already taken by Mike Flanagan, who previously was the vice president of baseball operations when Jim Beattie was executive vice president.
Yet Flanagan and Beattie were basically co-GMs, as were Flanagan and Jim Duquette. Got all that?
So, no, I read nothing into Duquette’s title, other than it is official and the GM search has ended.

Off topic - Iheard David Wright is available. The Mets are looking for a Center Fielder and a starting pitcher....hmmmm.....how about Adam Jones and Brian Matusz for a gold glove winning and offensive power and average hitting Wright? We could then pick up Carlos Beltran, Cuddyer, Wilson, Oswalt, or Buerhle from the free agent market.

Wow, another Great move by Peter Angelos - note dripping sarcasm. This is a guy that Boston just had to fire in order to win their first world series since 1918. A guy made fun of in MoneyBall, a guys that only knows how to spend money and pick losers. With the Bengles, The Bills and the Lions all winning this year, the Orioles are officially the worst franchise in professional sports. Congrats!!

Dan i sure hope you are correct. It's bad enough that this organization continues to be laughed at on the field but ths perception of the front office has to stop.I personally think that buck will have major input on decisons and that is why tony lacava turned them down. Never the less a job needs to be done and i hope and pray dan is the right guy to do it . Somebody please get the job done.

EVP is a common title throughout baseball. No big deal.

As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Baltimore Orioles will be less than five months away from.......
The beginning of another Last Place Season......
Once again looking up at the Toronto Blue Jays.....
I could go on and on and on.... But allow me to repeat that last line.....
Once again looking up at the Toronto Blue Jays......
So keep obsessing about the dreaded Yankee's everyone.
Me? I'll take a year just beating the Blues Jays and Rays - hahahahahaha

George, you're giving up too much for Wright. Either the Mets trade him straight up for AJ or no trade. Another possibility could be Adam Jones, Matusz and maybe someone else for Cahill and Gonzalez (A's). Maybe that is a better possibility. Other than that the Orioles need to look to free agency to improve!
Executive Vice President for Duquette, huh? If have an EVP, don't you need a President? Look, I don't care if Duquette is a deemed a Janitor or the Food and Beverage Chairman. Peter Angelos darn well better give him some latitude and a budget to work with in order to get some players in here to help the cause!

Also off topic from the naysayers - Adam Jones for David Wright? I don't think so.......
I can see the positives for Wright who had an off year last year and injuries but who would you put in center field if Jones is traded?
Although, I have not given up on Matasz, I doubt that anyone is interested at this point.
I do think hiring Cuddyer as a free agent if the price is reasonable is worth considering.
