Some pregame notes
1B Chris Davis was back in the starting lineup Tuesday after missing four days due to a strained right shoulder.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said he has considered making lineup changes, including moving a struggling Vladimir Guerrero out of cleanup, but has stuck with the familiar alignment so far.
Despite the additions of Tommy Hunter and Jo-Jo Reyes to the rotation, Showalter said the Orioles are still considering converting Jim Johnson to a starting role. Showalter said he’ll have a better idea of whether it will happen at the end of the month.
One day after making errors in consecutive games, third baseman Josh Bell took early fielding practice with infield coach Willie Randolph and instructor Mike Bordick.
2B Brian Roberts (concussion) did not participate in baseball activities today in Sarasota as he continues his rehab.
RHP Jake Arrieta left the team Tuesday and will have his right elbow examined by orthopedist Dr. Lewis Yocum on Wednesday with surgery to remove a bone spur expected Friday if Yocum deems it necessary.
INF Cesar Izturis (groin) had a MRI on Tuesday and Showalter said it didn’t reveal anything unexpected. He was put on the DL on Monday.

Turning JJ into a starter makes ZERO sense to me. What are we trying to do here?? Blow this guy's arm or shoulder out??? This organzation seems totally clueless at times...

here's the way i look at reyes.the manager of the jays was a former pitching coach. he couldn't fix him, and he could not take it any longer, so onto the scrap heap he goes.
Now the Os needed at the least a healthy arm pick him up. Then he says something about being in Balto for some kind of turnaround, then promptly goes out and gives up 3 in 3, continuing his horrible pitching, which the jays knew he would do.
The only turnaround reyes will see is a front office shakedown and his walking papers. I don't think that he will be one of the 12 or so surviving members of the Purge of 2012. This whole thing is ridiculous beyond belief.

i think like most of us, the players have had more than enough. The good ones know that in the scheme of things, they have so little talent that the whole thing has become a pointless chore. They're not having any fun, we're not having any fun. They're tired of saying the same old thing, we're tired of hearing it. Boring, disinterested, predictable, strikeoutkings - your 2011 Orioles.
Just shut the thing down and start again in 2014 or so. We all need a break.
Andy, if you have no interest in fielding a competitive team in your lifetime, then get the hell out of the way.

this would be the ultimate indignity for reyes, thought it might make a real feel good movie if he could ever overcome being released within 10 days of his signing by a team that can't pitch it's way out of a paper bag, and was so desperate for an uninjured arm that it signed him in the first place. If i was writing a horror movie about a baseball team, I would not have to go so far to get my material.
There just is no way that AM's failure in nearly all facets of team building can ever be properly quantified. If he came in and said hey fellas, it's gonna be horrible for a few years here, traded everyone, cleaned house in the warehouse, I'd have more respect for the guy. But he took the half-way road, with the same results. He has set this franchise back another 3 years.
And what is Buck doing hitting Reynolds and Davis anywhere near each other in the lineup. He is just begging for an early exit out of this crapfest.

So Buck is considering moving a struggling Vlad out of the cleanup spot and Brian "creampuff" Roberts didn't participate in baseball activities in Sarasota today. ZZZZZZZZZ......

Here's my notes on the lineup, rotation and injuries:
Lineup: Can't hit southpaw pitching.
Rotation: Can't get lefties or righties out.
Injuries: Reminds me of "spin the bottle."
