Robert Andino has put up some pretty solid numbers this season. How has his fielding been? Do you think he will get a Sept. callup and/or a shot at the starting SS job next season?

Dean,
Is there any chance the O's will bring up 1st baseman Joseph Mahoney from Bowie. He is hitting .391 and is 6ft 7in which would be a good target at 1st and hard to miss!!

Deano -- please no Andino. He doesn't hit much better than Izturis and has 28 errors at AAA, while Caesar is one of the better SS in the AL.

Dean -- Mahoney is at Bowie because he's been below average at AAA in other organizations in the past. I would hope Scott/Reimold/Aubrey would get shots at 1b if we can't get a big free agent bat in the off season.

tw- Please fact check your comments before spewing propaganda that can confuse fellow fans and readers.

I'm not a wild Andino fan either, but the phrase, "Caesar is one of the better SS in the AL" gave me a good laugh. Actually, he's the worst SS in both the AL and MLB entirely. Cesar has the worst OPS of any qualifying player in either league by a whopping 50 points. He can't hit, he has absolutely no power, he doesn't walk, and he no longer steals bases. He's a terrible player, arguably the worst every day player in MLB. And his fielding, which once made him at least useful (although never good), has been merely average this year as evidenced by UZR, TotalZone or any other metric you wish to consider. I don't know what the O's plan to do next year at SS, but I'd have no problem with them giving Andino a shot down the stretch. They won't be losing anything with Cesar not playing.

As for Mahoney...I'm just confused. Did you simply make up some lies or did you mix him up with another player? Mahoney has only ever been in the Orioles organization. They drafted him in 2007. And he's never played a game at AAA in his life, so I'm not sure what it means that he's been below average there in the past. My concern with him is that he's never even had an average season in his previous three. He's been somewhere between slightly below average and downright lousy. But he's torn it up at two different levels this year, with a nice mix of both home run power and patience at the plate/walks. He's a little old for his league and strikes out too much, but he's worth keeping an eye on, especially in an organization that has very little to no depth at first base and lacks power prospects

tw--which Mahoney are you talking about? Joseph Mahoney at Bowie was drafted by the Orioles in 2007 and has made his way up from Aberdeen. He's never been with another organization or played AAA.

TW, Mahoney was drafted by the O's in '07 and has come up thru their farm system. He's never been in AAA before. That being said, I doubt they would call him up when rosters expand. It's a good confidence builder to pound minor league pitching for the rest of the year.

TW -- factual error. Mahoney was drafted by the Orioles in 2007 and has steadily worked his way up the ladder from Aberdeen. He has played in no other organization.

Sweet swing, though, if a little long. I'd like to see him mash at AAA before giving him the call-up, and that likely means waiting until next season.

Maloney has only been in O's organization, you are wrong as two left shoes!

Correction-----Bowie Baysox Brandon Waring hit his 20th homerun at last night's game, not 18th as reported.

RESPONSE FROM DEAN: Cooper, good catch. I looked into this because the box score says 18th. But, I think it is because this was the completion of a suspended game and he has hit two home runs since that date. Therefore, this is "officially" his 18th, but he now has 20 on the year. Thanks for the heads up. I'll correct in the post.

I think tw is confusing Mahoney and Guzman.
