Jones talks about being detained
Adam Jones recently spoke to reporters in Toronto about being detained by Canadian officials earlier this morning.
Here is what he said:
“Basically, what happened was they had the wrong person. They thought I was somebody else. It all got situated, but it took its time to get situated.”
Jones originally expressed his frustration on his Twitter account. One of the tweets was later removed.
“It’s frustrating for me, I shouldn’t have put it out how I put it out. It’s just frustrating. Now we can all just get on with it. There’s more stories, I guess, people want to stay something, but everything’s taken care of on my end.”
Were you detained or just subjected to further screening?
“We went to immigration so I would consider that detained. Everything is cool. They said I had a criminal record. My mom raised me better than that. I have never been involved with anything criminal in my entire life. It was a long, pointless situation to me because of the circumstances. But I’m glad that got cleared and that won’t be a problem anymore coming into this country.”
Did they think you were NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones?
“I don’t know if it’s him. We got the same name obviously, but I’m not going to say I was mistaken for him when I don’t know.”
More about his original “tweet,” in which he sarcastically said he appreciated “someone from the team making sure we’re OK, NOOOOTTTT.”
“It doesn’t matter what I put on my Twitter page. It’s just something that never should have happened. Obviously, putting it on my Twitter page, it’s gaining pointless exposure. I’ve learned my lesson.”
He said that smiling.
He also added: “I’m not going to say who was there with me. I wasn’t the only person there.”

MLB higher ups and Orioles owner and front office should be outraged at this incident. They should demand a public apology from the Canadian Gov't. This is ridiculous. We don't treat their players like that.
Kick their sorry teams out of MLB!

He was detained for falsely impersonating a major league hitter.

MLB really does need to think about contingency plans for this. If a top hitter or pitcher allowed to play in MLB is not allowed in for a key series in Toronto, it would unfairly affect the pennant race.
I propose that MLB move all games between the Blue Jays and any team that has a player repeatedly detained to the US team's stadium.

welcome 2 the orioles organization Adam...they dont care about you as a person off the field which is the reason why no one can seem to put forth the effort on the field. Adam is one of many hitters not hitting on our team outside of wiggy and markakis who has hit for average but no power numbers thus far. The Orioles whole organization should've been obtained for falsy impersonating an MLB organizaton.Take Adam's gold glove off the field, then we really suck. The Orioles are just a complete joke!

The other player was probably Tejada, considering his plea deal last year...

I can't believe you [guys] have the nerve to make fun of the guy after what he just went through. You guys must have been raised by great women. Ones that taught you great manners.

It is unfortunate--but hey Adam--in these days of heightened security and scrutiny, NOBODY is exempt. I've never had any problems with the law either, and my momma raised me right too---but my family and I were selected to be detained and have all our possessions looked through during a recent trip. So, don't feel picked on--you're not alone. But you had to bitch about it(tweet). I guess since you're an All-Star you should've been treated differently. Hopefully, if they photographed you during this collossal waste of time, you had a chance to blow a bubble---like the one you blew when you dropped that ball and cost Bergesen 3 runs--oh yeah that was a waste of my and other Oriole fans time as well...shut up, play ball, be a pro, and for cryin out loud, lose the gum!.

Hey Adam. Get over it. The way you have played defense and lack of strike zone knowledge you should not complain about anything. Grow Up!
