So much for that
Orioles manager Dave Trembley started his pre-game meeting with reporters by declaring this "a new day, a new game."
Well, it certainly looks awfully familiar to me.
The Orioles are already 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position, making them an obscene 10-for-70 in such situations this year. A's starter Ben Sheets only threw 47 pitches over the first four innings, status quo for an Orioles team that is 29th in the major leagues in pitches seen per plate appearances.
Then, there was the two errors in the bottom of the fourth that helped Oakland extend its lead to to 4-0. Adam Jones overthrew both cutoff men, turning Adam Rosales' leadoff double into a triple. Second baseman Ty Wigginton then booted Cliff Pennington's ground ball, allowing Rosales to score without a throw.
David Hernandez is getting knocked around a little bit, but it would be nice if the Orioles' offense and defense would help a young pitcher out.

pretty ironic that the o's flash their brand of offense, if you can call it that, in front of billy beane. he must be
laughing till it hurts.

I really thought we were building something but now I see we have several just above average young guys and the rest are barely major leaguers. Only the Orioles could turn Baltimore back into a total football town. This franchise is wasting a beautiful stadium and a loyal fanbase.

Pie misplayed another ball in the outfiled but amazingly didn't get an error for it,Still trying to figure out who Adam Jones doesn't get charged for an error on a ball that hit right in the pocket of his glove. The scorers are as bad as the Oriole braintrust.I expected bad, just not this bad.If Trembley stays we may approach the all time Orioles loss record.

It was Ft. Lauderdale.....we should have stayed in the dungeon....the eventual glee of escape would at least transfer into a few wins.......Sarasota lulled them to sleep....whatever baseball work was supposed to be done in FL apparently didn't register. When it comes to the O's, if the 8 oz. glass has only an ounce, I'm optimistic.....here, now....I see absolutely nothing positive....nothing.

I get tired of hearing about how good Pie and Jones are defensively and Reimold sucks etc. It's just amzing how many kol aid drinkers there re that believe ll these myths.
If Pie goes on the DL,the O's will start hitting, mark my words. This guy has been getting preferential treatment since he's been here so McPhail can look like a genuis. How sweet it would be for the O's to have Billy Beane as GM because he has an eye for talent, unlike McPhail, who belives hype on people and not their stats. We overpaid draft picks last year that are now on the DL.
We should have bought up Castillo or Perez instead of Mickilio who's just another Chris Ray or Bob McCrory. If there's a wrong button to push, the O's org knows how to find it.The only thing that hasn't blown up in our face is Millwood so far and he'll want to be traded at the deadline. At least we have Montanez coming if Trembley doesn't let him rot on the bench with Turner.

Please, if the O's can fire Ripken Sr. after 6 games we can certainly get rid of this stiff Trembley. What a waste of a manager, terrible fundamentals. Earl Weaver please come back!

Pull a switcheroo - on Monday send the Tides to Seattle, and this team to Norfolk.
I want to see what happens when you put motivated guys on the field.

Can anyone on the paper check with the Orioles equipment manager as to how many hat sizes Adam Jones' head has increased since the 2009 All-Star Game?
He is doing nothing but dogging it in all facets of the game and it seems that no one is calling him out about it.
Poor fielding, overthrowing the ball, loafing when he hits routine grounders or fly balls. CONTINUING to be a sucker for the low outside pitches EVERYONE is throwing him these days.
Is he yet another one of those guys who has tons of natural ability but a brain that rivals one of a hummingbird!

I have to agree with Gus on the Jones thing, but I'm adding Markakis....when is the breakout coming? Is he so into the community and in the Greek graces of Angelos that he can't get some heat too? Maybe I'm nitpicking but we need something positive.
