Favre concert marathon: Thompson welcomes Brett
The news that Brett Favre is returning to the Packers' training camp hardly means that the Favre soap opera is over -- far from it.
Favre’s reinstatement is effective at noon, Central Time, and that rumble you hear coming out of Wisconsin is the media stampede to cover the homecoming of Favre to the Packers.
Luckily for the Packers, they don’t have a practice scheduled for today and Favre will meet with head coach Mike McCarthy. Then, McCarthy will meet with his other quarterbacks, including the guy who had the starting job for a few weeks, Aaron Rodgers. Tomorrow, should be as exciting as football can get in early August
The complications are several, the competition for the starting QB job being the most obvious. But as training camp goes on, there will be ongoing, breathless speculation that Favre will still be traded.
So far, the advantage in the tug-of-war between Favre and the Packers in the person of general manager Ted Thompson, who wanted Favre to stay retired, goes to Favre but this is just getting good. We’ve been making light of the situation with music videos of the situation and we continue to do that with this humorous spoof of what’s happened so far.

This whole situation is one huge mess. If you just look at the facts and his numbers (esp. from last year), Favre should be the starter. It's obvious he can still play. However, I don't think he will get a fair chance to win the job, especially with Thompson and his ego running the show. If Favre isn't the starter then we all know something is wrong and the competition wasn’t completely open. If you believe Favre should be the starter check out this campaign to tell Thompson how we feel. http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/bring-back-brett-favre

Bill , on one hand , i can feel Packer's management's frustration of putting up with Favre's wishy-washiness every year. We Ravens (team and fans) had go through same act with Jonathan Ogden . This kind of game can wear down your patience .
On the other hand , when Packers tried to bribe Favre ( aka 'maketing 'deal ) . I have more respect for
Favre for declining that offer and less respect for Packer's for trying buy their way out of this mess .
Say what you want about Favre , but he can actually look pass the money.

Thompson and his ego? The whole state of Wisonsin isn't big enough to hold Favre's massive runaway ego.. he's jerked the Packers around three straight off-seasons and cares not one bit about the team.. only himself....

Allan.. the offer was orignally made to Favre in MARCH
Look "pass" the money? (I assume you meant past) I don't think so....or is he donating his 412.7 million slary this year to charity?

I feel for Brett Favre. I think it's very difficult for anyone to retire when they are still able to produce! If the Packers don't want the legend, then the legend should go elsewhere!
