Favre saga continues: Can you hear me now?

So this is what it has come to -- deuling national stories on whether future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre does or does not have a cellular telephone issued to him by the Green Bay Packers.

Yesterday, there were news reports that he did with the further implication that the Packers could check call records to determine the extent of Favre's alleged contact with Minnesota offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and even head coach Brad Childress. This would have all been in support of Green Bay's charge of tampering against the Vikings.

Today, there are reports in opposition to the first report and that Favre does not have a team-issued cell phone.

At this point, I'm don't care if Favre used tin cans-and-string to talk to the Edmonton Eskimos. Just get this thing settled.

Amen. I have had enough of Farve-gate. Way too much. Not the classy way to end a very successfull career.

The point you are missing is that it was the Packers who said they had the records from the team phones. Now they are being busted. Ted Thompson is in big trouble. It is his legacy that is on the line -- not Brett's.

In the infamous words of Rod Woodson: QUIT CRYING
We have a veteran QB, shoe-in for the HOF who has been in this league longer than all of the players & most of the coaches. He's been to Hawaii more times than you can count, and he is an icon of the NFL. Sure, he probably did talk some shop with Minnesota, but who is to say he is not allowed to have friends that are affiliated with other teams? Maybe some phone calls were made, big deal unless you have a recording that proves he was doing something wrong. Minnesota has been playing GB 2x a year for as long as I can remember, they're about 1 inch apart on the map do you think they've never had conversations before? When GB goes to Dallas, do you think Brett never called some players there to hook up for dinner & catch up a bit while he was in town? Quit Crying...
You don't want the guy, you forced him into retirement after being given an ultimatum by Aaron Rodgers, give up the past or give up the future..same old song and dance. Held over a barrel by his replacement who didn't want to see Favre aging gracefully while he sat the bench...just tell the truth, straight forward and stop trying to impune the reputation of Favre just to 'wag the dog' and make it less obvious what GB did behind the scenes. I don't care, it's just business...but put a face on your decision making and deal with the consequences instead of having conspiracy theories & phone bills, bedknobs & broomsticks. Talk about his Vicadin addiction again for a while too, that should make Ted Thompson feel like a bigger man and make Brett look even more like a villain.

Raiders,
Good rant ... I did like the wag the dog reference.

Vince Lombardi must be turning over in his grave over this fiasco.
