Report: Ravens' Lewis sued over Super Bowl event
TMZ.com, a Web site that tracks all things salacious in the celebrity world, is reporting that a Phoenix-area company is suing Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis for nearly $5,800 for what TMZ says were hostesses who were provided for a Lewis event at the last Super Bowl.
To be clear, the suit itself identifies whatever Lewis is supposed to owe money for as "promotional services." If the word hostess is in the lawsuit and I missed it, I apologize.
An odd thing about the suit is that it identifies some of the defendants thusly: "Ray and Jane Doe Lewis are husband and wife and are nonresidents of Arizona."
If the Ravens' linebacker is married, that's news to me and also to the team. Here's a copy of a suit posted by TMZ.

Are we certain that it's the same Ray Lewis? It's a pretty common name, and the co-defendants seemed to be based in Indiana. Just playing devil's advocate.

Ray Lewis should pay at least $20,000

Maybe the plaintiffs will accidentally fall on a knife a few times and this will all go away.

Personal foul there.

I don't think Lewis should pay anything espcially since that was over 5 years ago! It is a frivaless law suit anyway!

Brian,
Just to clarify, the suit refers to the most recent Super Bowl. I'm not saying it does or does not have merit.

What is it with Ray and Super Bowls?
Seems to me that he is better off attending them only when he is actually playing in the game itself.

He's a pig. A very rich pig . I wouldn't trade places with killer Ray for any amount. To be clear and VERY honest, If I die and open my eyes and see Lewis, I will know for sure that I'm in the wrong place.

The "fans" in this town have always been hateful towards Ray Lewis, it's ridiculous. He's given Baltimore football fans everything he has week in, week out, delivering a Superbowl along the way. Along with Ogden, he is largely responsible for making football in this city relevant again. He is the most passionate football player in the league and even though for years the offense couldn't support his defense (that's right, HIS defense - he led them like a general), he delivered the same intensity and didn't leave the team in the age of free agents and team swapping.
What does he get in return from Balti-morans? Hatred and idiocy. "Fans" that never miss a chance to take shots at him. They'd sooner defend Billick than support one of the top three linebackers to play the game. You've all been privileged to witness the careers of Lewis and Ogden - what will it take for you to show the proper respect for both of them? What more can he do, seriously?

Why is it that no one can ever say anything about Ray without mentioning what happened years ago. He DID NOT kill anybody. Sure..in a perfect world he wouldn't have "fled the scene" BUT given the circumstances I wonder who wouldn't have done the same thing!! Let it go. Ray is a great guy. Let's focus on what he has done lately. Not what he should have done in the past. Are we really all so free from sin??

Last time someone brought a bogus claim against Ray concerning the previous Super Bowl, the Ravens went on to dominate and take home the Lombardi Trophy the following year. Since history tends to repeat itself, should I prepare myself for another Super Bowl run in '08? Jackpot.

I think it is blown out of proportion, so what, $5800 to Ray....CHUMP Change. Probably a misunderstanding or something we aren't told about. The media does report things the way they want to. I don't care if he pays or not, just as long as he brings the passion to the field like he does every week, EVEN when he is hurt.

They are suing for a little more than $5,000... Im sure Ray Lewis has ashtray's that cost that much... that is change for him... If he owes it then he will pay it, if he doesn't think he does, then he wont... None of our business.!

Ray is smart. He knows he'll be broke in 10 years so he's getting stingy in preparation for it.

$5800 hostesses, they must have some special services. Miami just busted a brothel bus that was provided special services to their customers. I guess thats why its the world's oldest profession.
Raven fans are two-face. Ray Lewis is as thug and thought so by most non Raven fans in the league. If Ray played for another team, the Raven fans would be on him, like Pacman.

Ray is no killer, but Ray is no saint. He will always be linked to the senseless death of two kids because he wasn't man enough to do the right thing. He is the GOAT when it comes to linebackers and no one plays with more heart, but he consistently chooses the wrong path at critical points. Altanta, bad mouthing Billick, throwing "his" team under the bus, charging people to stand in his "restuarant" and listen to him spew self praise and now beating to check on a few "hostesses". It would be easy to forget one bad thing he did in the past if he didn't continue to make bad decisions. I could forgive the Hotlanta incident and chalk it up to immaturity, but he is a man now and he still makes ridiculous decisions.

I am still amazed by the individuals who whole-heartedly believe that Ray got away with murder. The facts presented to the jury and their subsequent verdict reflect the fact that the prosecution made a "rush to judgment" and its case was weak. In exchange for his plea of "obstruction of justice" Ray was required to testify against his friends and (at one point) his co-defendants, and the jury subsequently found them not guilty. That ought to tell each one of you just how "strong" the case was against Ray and his friends. Moreover, how can you feel sorry for the "victims" when they were the aggressors? They are the ones that used a bottle of champagne as a club, taking it the head of one of Ray's friends.
It stands to reason that the prosecution did not meet its burden. It is pretty clear the prosecutor was trying to make a name for himself by bringing a high-profile cause of action against a high-profile athelete. Alas, his vain attempt failed miserably.
Move on jerks and leave Ray alone.
