Music video: Orioles Magic, 2008
By now, you're probably aware that the Orioles completed a two-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox yesterday with a 6-3 win, as starter Daniel Cabrera went seven innings (zero walks) to raise his record to 4-1, closer George Sherrill got his 15th save and Jay Payton hit a grand slam. The Orioles are two games over .500 with a weekend series coming up against I-95 National League rival Washington. And if you haven't been to Camden Yards lately, you may not have seen the update of Orioles Magic.
Well, here it is from YouTube via Yahoo.

Millar for President!

Smartest thing they have done in years. Corny as hell and I got goose bumps anyway. They are finally starting to embrace the city and the people. Now all they need to do is remember that they are from Baltimore. Good Job Guys! Keep it going.

Ed,
It's supposed to be fun and hopefully, they can keep it that way for a while.

You know I think bringing in Millar was a great thing. Besides the fact that he plays well, for a long time this team didn't real have a face. Like no one to really say, "whoever and The Baltimore Orioles." I mean like its "Ray Lewis and the Ravens" or "Lebron and Cavs" or "Derek Jeter and the Yankees." Something like that didn't really exist the past few years. I mean not that that's really the point of this video, but the other commentaries I've read about this video made that apparent to me. Just a thought.

Good point.

I'm really glad you put this one up. I was going to ask you to find this on one of your previous posts. That is the funniest thing I've ever seen, and it's so addicting too. Go O's!!!

Joe,
It is addicting, isn't it. I'm glad it's just mot me.

Nice recovery for Kevin Millar, after the "throwing out the first pitch for a division rival" incident. Charm City will embrace a hard effort and a team that shows that it wants to reconnect.
This really does take me back to a better time.

Classic. Absolutely classic.
This team wasn't built to win this year, but they're doing it. How many other teams put something like this together?
Awesome. Simply awesome.

Great Video!!! Kevin Millar is what the Orioles need. Someone to keep them loose. You guys are playing great baseball and having fun doing it. Keep it up!!!

I second it, Millar for president!

Is it just me, or when you see Eddie Murray doing the drummer thing late in the video, that he just reminds you of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) from the Rocky movies? I think it's the hair or something, but at a quick glance, it really does look like it.

Thanks for the Oriole Magic video Bill from sunny Arizona

Ron,
I'm just the messenger but it's nice to be bearing good news sometimes.

So here's the choice - stay home and watch the game on TV and be bitter as hell about the last ten years, OR just go out to the game and enjoy yourself. Sure there were still plenty of Sox fans there on Tuesday night, but it felt more like a 50-50 split, and oh did it feel good to send them home with a loss. And the pre-game atmosphere at Pickles / Sliders - takes you back to 1997 or so. So what if Angelos still owns the team. So what if the road jerseys don't say Baltimore on them. Enjoy the ride - life's too short to stay angry at this team.

Tim,
Thanks for reminding me of the road jerseys. That might be something we want to start harping on again.

I haven't smiled about the Orioles for years, but that brought about a huge grin on my face! Thanks for the GREAT video and let's hope this year is a new beginning.

Wow. As an O's fan who has NEVER given up... who grew up with Brooksie, Frank, Boog and Cakes... this gave me goose bumps! Great stuff.

Nice video. Keep trying hard on the field guys...you are making being an Orioles fan fun again!

no one could predict the O's would be 2 games above .500 after 40 games.
Let's hope they keep it up , but we all know what happens after the All Star Break.. I sure hope they can keep surprising us and end over .500.

Harp,
Before the season, Vegas had the Orioles over-under in the low 60s ... they were ranked 30 out of 30 teams, if I recall correctly. Because I put some stock in those Vegas numbers, I think if this team can get to, say 75, it has greatly overachieved and the season would have been successful or promising. Of course, something in the 80s, as you suggest, would be even better.
