Music video: Bloggers vs. Codgers

Last week, the brawling between the new-fangled blog universe and the old-timey world of ink-on-paper came to a raucous head when author Buzz Bissinger (representing the 20th century) and Deadspin editor Will Leitch (champion of 21st century infotainment) squared off on the Bob Costas show. Specifically, the debate was about sports blogs and conventional sports journalism.

In decrying the vulgarity and shallowness of Web denizens, Bissinger admittedly made the mistake of being a bit vulgar himself -- something for which he has since apologized while maintaining his basic philosophical stance that blogs have largely operated in a way contrary to the accepted standards of journalism. Here's a good interview on The Big Lead.

And so here we have singer-songwriter Ryan Parker's take on Old Media vs. New Media. For the record, I still have one foot in the boat and one on the dock.
