For Vick: It's first down-and-at-least-15-months to go
Michael Vick is playing football ... in prison.
While comparisons to prison-football movie The Longest Yard are inevitable, in real prison life, Vick plays quarterback for both sides.
The news comes via the New York Daily News' Gary Myers following an interview with Atlanta owner Arthur Blank who has been corresponding with Vick. Atlanta player development director Kevin Winston has visited Vick in Leavenworth federal penitentiary but don't read anything into that. Blank is making it clear that Vick will never wear a Falcon uniform again.
Among the interesting tidbits is that Vick makes 12 cents an hour washing pots and pans. But so far, he's sitting on a court ruling that allows him to keep more than $16 million in bonus money from Atlanta. Professionally, the best that Vick can hope for is to be eligible to play next year but there are significant variables including the possibility of further suspension by the NFL and Virginia state charges related to dog fighting he still faces in a scheduled June trial. Then, of course, he has to be signed by someone who is willing to accept Vick's considerable baggage.

With Lawyer fees for this crime, and he other lawsuits. Not sure how much money he really does have. I remember a wine company, car rental and real estate company all had him in court demanding payments.

Capt.,
You make a good point. I suppose it's hard to tell how much dough he'll come out of all this with. The creditors may have been the result of some strategy related to cash flow problems at the time. But you're right in that one can't assume too much merely based on the numbers that are tossed around.

Yeah, I saw that. Well, who knows what goes on behind the walls of a federal prison.
