Stop everything ... there's Ravens news. Sorta.

The team has announced a schedule of minicamps under first-year head coach John Harbaugh. The first is in mid-April (April 17-19). There's another May 1-3 and a mandatory minicamp May 9-11. On May 16 and May 23, there are special teams practices and on May 20-22, a rookie camp. There are three passing camps: May 27-30, June 3-6 and June 9-12. All those will be held at the practice facilities at team headquarters, aka The Castle, in Owings Mills. Dates can change.

Training camp where fans can enjoy languid summer days watching interminable drills with be at McDaniel College in Westminster again and tentative start dates will be either the week of July 20 or July 27, according to a team press release.

TC,
Holy smokes ... the Orioles haven't even lost a game yet.

Well Bill even the smallest news about the Ravens can brighten the smiles of a Baltimore area that is suffering from over 10 years of Fantastic Orioles Losing Baseball. Its hard to get hyped when the PR machine builds up young guns but come july its football season in Bmore.

James,
You don't have to tell us. It's pretty easy to take the fans' temperature in these parts.

Mr. Ordine,

I was curious to know exactly how much of a difference this is from the mini-camp schedule once used by Brian Billick?
----------------------------------------
Doug,
I'll check on that. I noticed that of the total sessions, 14 were also designated as OTAs .... organized team activities, including the two special teams days and passing camps. Of the three mini-camps, one was specifically designated mandatory, the one on May 9-11.

Yeh any football news is nice. even though they had a lousy season, it's still more exciting than orioles baseball as a season. but as baseball seasons go this one will be interesting at least because something will be different. instead of fourth place we'll be in fifth place in the AL east
