Landeta officially the last USFL player to retire

Not sure exactly what Sean Landeta was waiting for -- although I suppose a call from a desperate team could have come at any time -- but he finally officially retired from the NFL yesterday, which makes him the last player from the old USFL to call it quits.

Yesterday also happened to be the 25th anniversary of the first USFL game.  In the old league, Landeta played for the Baltimore-Philadelphia Stars.  He then played for five NFL teams over more than two decades (Giants, Eagles, Buccaneers, Rams and Packers), but was best known for his time in New York where he played on two Super Bowl winners.  Landeta, now 46, last played in 2005 with the Eagles and was signed in '06 by the Giants but didn't punt.
