Changed Moss no rolling stone

Randy Moss is an interesting case.

Few football players had such a universally negative image than the talented Moss, whose self-interest seemed to be eclipsed only by his penchant for embarrassing behavior both on the field and off it. But the most recent turn of events shows that, in fact, Moss has turned over a new leaf.

Moss will remain a New England Patriot for the foreseeable future after negotiating a contract that seems fair but isn't outrageous. It was accomplished without rancor and, if reports are true, he even turned down just as good a deal to go elsewhere.

Last year, Moss reportedly took a pay cut to join New England for a chance to be with a winner. It came within a few minutes of turning out perfect as he set an NFL record for touchdown receptions (23) during the Patriots' 18-1 run that fell short of a Super Bowl championship.

As a free agent, Moss has apparently agreed to a three-year, $27-million deal with $15 million guaranteed ($12 million in a signing bonus). According to one report, Philadelphia was offering four years for $36 million with $15 million in signing bonus money.

Hey Bill,
Love the columns/blogs.

I suppose its easy to be a team player when you are getting the ball so much you set a single season TD record and your team goes undefeated in the regular season. That being said, the patriots are always contenders and will be for the next three years, so I forsee Randy keeping his cool throughout his career as a pat.

Brian,
Thanks for the kind words ... as least Moss knows a good deal when he has one.

Most football fans would probably pick the Patriots over the Eagles as having the best chance to get back to the SB. Especially given the fact that the Eagle might need a QB.
