Maryland women had lead when it counted -- at the end

The Maryland women's basketball team did something in its game against Virginia Tech last night I can't ever recall seeing, although I'm sure it has happened before.

From the first basket, a three-pointer by the Hokies, to the final buzzer in regulation, Maryland never had a lead -- yet the Terps won.

The Terps managed to tie the game, 62-62, in regulation and force an overtime where they nosed ahead of Virginia Tech for the first time nearly two minutes into OT on a basket by Laura Harper and held on for a 74-71 win. Had Maryland (24-2, 8-1) lost, it would have been a monumental upset for Virginia Tech. The Hokies (13-10, 0-8) are winless in the ACC and were battling a bigger, more athletic Maryland. At one point in the first half, Virginia Tech had built a 21-point lead.

But Maryland showed as much grit as the underdog Hokies. Three Terps played more than 40 minutes. Kristi Toliver had 28 points, Crystal Langhorne had a double-double (19 points, 16 rebounds) and Marissa Coleman scored 17.
