Ravens not buying any Lemons
The notion that the Baltimore Ravens may pursue former Miami quarterback Cleo Lemon because of the Cam Cameron connection was dashed when Lemon, a free agent, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars today according to FOXSports.com's Alex Marvez. Lemon will be a backup in Jacksonville.
The Jaguars appear to be undera full head of steam. They picked up wide receiver Troy Williamson in a trade and have appraently landed ex-Raider WR Jerry Porter.

Is there any chance that the Ravens will make a move on some sort of free angents? We have some needs that I think need a fill before the draft.

Ben,
Given the cap situation and the team's track record, I don't see anything that will really move the needle. A modest signing or two, maybe even a trade like last year.

The only free agent QBs worth the Ravens pursuing would be Billy Volek and Sage Rosenwhatever (played with Texans this past season). I think Volek is interesting because he played well for the Titans when McNair was hurt and he played for Cam in SD. Of course, signing a QB would mean cutting one, and I don't want the Ravens to cut Smith.

Jacob,
They won't cut Smith. Volek is kind of interesting but I don't think he's an upgrade over whomever you would have to get rid of.

Those are decent moves that add some depth to QB and WR, but they're nothing spectacular. I don't think Williamson is any better than their current WR's, and Porter's never really been a top tier #1. While those are solid moves because of the depth factor, I just don't see them making the Jags substantially better.

Chris,
Porter would be the real addition if he plays to potential. As a move it's sort of Randy Moss Lite ... getting a guy who was not very productive lately on a bad team and hoping that a new, better team will bring out the best in him.
