Foosball frenzy in Baltimore County this weekend
Professional foosball is coming to town. Professional foosball? Who knew.
Foosball is that soccer-type action game that you see in bars and arcades where you have little players that you move back-and-forth and spin with rods. I don't play much but it's not as difficult or confusing as the President makes it look here (I don't think he'll be there).
Anyway, the folks promoting the Maryland State Foosball Championship in Timonium say in a news release that $11,000 in prize money is up for grabs and that 200 top players from the East Coast and overseas are expected to compete. Of course, there's always the local hopefuls, including star Marylanders among men, women and juniors.
And anyone can join the action. You can view the event schedule here.
There are all kinds of categories, doubles, singles, open events, expert events. Players can win up to $550 each in some categories. It's being held Feb. 15-17 at the Days Inn Hotel (410-560-1000), 9615 Deerco Road in Timonium.

Players in the area have been warming up for this event all month. It is a great sport to play and amazing to watch pro-masters ( like Ryan Moore) in action. Thanks for posting the info Bill!

"You think you know foosball? You have no idea!" The 2006 World Cup of Foosball was attended by 20 countries each fielding 10 player teams who competed on 5 different brand/models of tables. Check out www.table-soccer.org for info about the Sport of Foosball at the International Level.

Thanks for the coverage Bill. FYI, spectators are welcome. We will be sure to have a few extra table setup for first time foosers to try their hand at the game. Best times to WATCH some of the top foosers battling it out will be Saturday afternoon/evening and Sunday afternoon/evening.

Have a great weekend as the tournament.
